Today we have a concerning new Covid-19 variant, some possible solutions for Congress to solve the debt limit problem, and a spectacular Egyptian event 3,000 years in the making.
Here’s the latest on that and everything else we’re watching this Friday morning. Countries across the world rushed Friday to identify potential cases and halt travel from southern Africa where a new variant of Covid-19 emerged as a sudden source of global alarm.
The World Health Organization convened for an emergency meeting to assess the variant, currently identified as B.1.1.529.
Scientists are still learning about the variant, which was first identified earlier this week, but its concerning nature led to rapid developments.
The U.K. said late Thursday it was adding six African countries to its red list, banning all direct flights from: South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Eswatini, Zimbabwe and Namibia. Other countries quickly moved to follow suit.
“This is the most significant variant we have encountered to date and urgent research is underway to learn more about its transmissibility, severity and vaccine-susceptibility,” said Dr Jenny Harries, chief executive of the U.K. Health Security Agency. “This is a clear reminder to everyone that this pandemic is not over.”

As leaders in Paris and London traded accusations, advocates and politicians who have long called for a more humane approach to the contentious issue said both countries bore a degree of responsibility for the loss of life. Abolishing the debt ceiling and minting a $1 trillion coin are among the solutions being proposed. “This is a ring that ensnared dozens and dozens and dozens of girls. And Maxwell was an integral player,” one civil attorney said. OPINION People seem to think needy folks are a good way to unload their guilt — and accumulated items — from overspending on previous holidays, writes culture and wellness writer Tonya Russell. While Americans feasted their eyes on a full-blown Thanksgiving Day parade after a two-year Covid absence, nearly 6,000 miles away Egypt revived a very different cultural tradition that has not been seen for several thousand years.
The country opened the 3,000-year-old Avenue of Sphinxes to the public Thursday in an extravagant ceremony in the southern city of Luxor that follows decades of excavation efforts.
The ancient walkway, nearly two miles long and about 250 feet wide, was once named “The Path of God.”

BREAK THE INTERNET The feminine urge to go offline Lately, people on social apps have been expressing their “urges” to perform certain actions or say certain phrases. “The feminine urge to start sentences with ‘i think’ when in actuality, i know for a fact,” wrote @bubae_n on Twitter. “The feminine urge to take a 3 hour nap every single day,” wrote @ianisuglyyy. Although the original meme talks about “feminine” urges, people have expanded the meme to cover masculine, non-binary, and bisexual urges, among others. And some people have dropped the descriptor entirely to just make the meme about urges that could apply to anyone. If you’re reading this, you made it through Thanksgiving—whether you chose to celebrate it or not. And you might be having all kinds of urges (nap, eat leftovers, watch a dumb movie, repeat). Maybe you have the urge to post nostalgic photos on Instagram that show off your “childhood energy.” Maybe you just want to log off. All of these are valid. It’s almost the end of 2021; a perfect time as any to fulfill all of your deepest urges. By Tiffany Kelly Culture Editor

CELEBRITIES Adele reunites with the English teacher who inspired her Most of us have at least one person whose presence in our lives influenced what came after, but we don’t often have a chance to thank them. But for Adele, that moment finally arrived after her recent concert gave her a tearful reunion with the person who inspired her.
Before the release of 30, one of the most anticipated albums of the year, CBS aired Adele One Night Only, a special that included a concert with numerous famous faces in the audience. At one point during the concert, Adele is asked by actor Emma Thompson which person influenced her when she was younger. Adele had an answer: Miss McDonald, an English teacher who Adele only knew for a year.
“She got me really into literature,” Adele said. Immediately following her response, Thompson revealed that Miss McDonald was the audience. Adele seemed genuinely shocked to see her teacher and burst into tears.

TIKTOK TikTok is turning walls into murder boards thanks to ‘Cain’s Jawbone’ The murder mystery Cain’s Jawbone was released in 1934 by writer Edward Powys Mathers, who went by the pen name Torquemada, a persona created when he compiled crosswords for The Observer. The premise: You must identify six killers and their victims, but also put the 100 pages of the novel in the right chronological order. The book was reprinted in 2019 by U.K. publisher Unbound, which now offers a prize to those who solve it that can be used on other books by the publisher.
Now the book and the competition have gone viral thanks to TikTok, where user Sarah Scannell posted about picking up Cain’s Jawbone at a San Francisco bookstore and thus fulfilling her “lifelong dream” of turning her bedroom wall into a “murder board.” The video has more than 4.8 million views.
Last week it was reportedly sold out through Amazon, though Scannell reported that it was eventually back in stock—at double the price. Unbound commented on the TikTok virality, and stated that they’re “reprinting as quickly as we can.”

99.) MARK LEVIN
November 25, 2021
On Thursday’s Mark Levin Show, we bring you the best Of Mark Levin. The media is thoroughly and grotesquely racist, antisemitic, and Marxist. Darryl Edward Brooks Jr has been charged with the slaughter of 6 and the injuries of 40 children and adults he allegedly ran over at a Christmas parade. Brooks is a career criminal with a listing on Arizona’s sex offender registry and his motivation remains to be seen. Then, these problems are perpetuated by the rejection of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King’s idea of a color-blind society from the Marxists that promote critical race theory and MSNBC hosts smear and trash White people and this country’s founding. Later, self-defense predates the U.S Constitution and Kyle Rittenhouse was rightfully found not guilty. A non-violent protester was killed in the riot on January 6th and the left within the media called that an insurrection. Yet, Democrats will defend the violent rioters instead of the law-abiding citizen. The radicals on the left don’t believe in a jury system as was proved by the prosecutors in this case who were willing to undermine the Constitution to get a scalp for their cause. Finally, MSNBC’s Tiffany’s Cross attacks truck drivers claiming that the white drivers cut off the black drivers. Cross’s suggestion that truckers are racists does not sit well with truckers of all races and genders across America. Later, Buzzfeed maintains that because the FBI opened an investigation into the Steele dossier they felt it was worth reporting on it. Despite learning that the entire dossier was false almost none of the media have retracted their stories.
