Chauvin murder trial enters fourth day following bodycam footage viewing |
||||||||||
The Derek Chauvin murder trial enters its fourth day Thursday, a day after jurors watched four police body-cam videos . In the videos, George Floyd, a Black man, could be heard pleading for his life and saying “I can’t breathe.” The videos also revealed Chauvin defended his tactics after an ambulance left the scene, remarking to a bystander that Floyd was “a sizable guy” and “probably on something.” Jurors also heard from Cup Foods employee Christopher Martin, 19, who took the counterfeit $20 from Floyd – the incident that led to the call to police that brought Chauvin and the other officers to the scene. Martin said he “saw Derek with his knee on George’s neck on the ground” during his testimony. “If I had just not taken the ($20) bill, this could have been avoided,” Martin added. Other witnesses Wednesday included:

April Fools’ Day is here: Will other companies follow Volkswagen’s lead? |
||||||||||
April Fools’ Day, the annual tradition every April 1 where people and brands become pranksters, returns Thursday. The origins of the day probably date back hundreds of years, author Alex Boese said last year. In the 21st century, corporations began using the day as an opportunity to make joke advertisements go viral, Boese added. Due to the severity of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, some companies, including Google, reconsidered their gags. But if Volkswagen’s recent stunt is any indication, companies may be less shy with pranks in 2021. The automaker said Monday that it was changing its U.S. name to “Voltswagen” in a nod toward the company’s heightened commitment to electric vehicles. Major news outlets, including USA TODAY, reported on the decision. The company then admitted it was an April Fools’ joke. Volkswagen is not changing its name. A spokesman acknowledged the stunt upset some people in a statement Wednesday and apologized.

What else people are reading: |

🔵 Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, has seen his fair share of ugly things, such as his alcohol and drug addiction that sent him spiraling for years. But he’s seen a lot of beautiful things, too – namely the love he shares with his father and brother Beau Biden, who died of glioblastoma in 2015. Hunter Biden wrote about all of that and more in his aptly named new memoir, “Beautiful Things.”
🔵 Facebook took down an interview with Donald Trump conducted by his daughter-in-law Lara Trump for her show “The Right View.” A company spokesman said the video was not permitted on Facebook and Instagram because of the former president’s indefinite suspension from the platforms after the deadly Capitol insurrection on Jan. 6.
🔵 The maker of the Cottonelle, Scott and Viva brands has announced that it will hike prices on “a majority of its North America consumer products business,” including toilet paper and baby care items. Kimberly-Clark Corp. blamed rising commodity costs for the increases.
🔵 A newly discovered species of meat-eating dinosaur in Argentina has been named the “one who causes fear” by the scientists who found a well-preserved skull of the ancient beast. The Llukalkan aliocranianus was “likely among the top predators” during the Late Cretaceous Period because of its formidable size, extremely powerful bite, very sharp teeth, huge claws and keen sense of smell.
🔵 This week, Gwyneth Paltrow revealed her “guide to everyday skin care and wellness” in a video for Vogue. The actress and businesswoman, 48, said she doesn’t slather on sunscreen, but instead likes to put some on her nose and “the area where the sun really hits.” Some viewers took to social media to denounce her advice . Dr. Caroline Robinson, a dermatologist, told USA TODAY using sunscreen as “a spot treatment, sparingly, or ‘just where the sun hits’ … is a very dangerous message.”
Newsmakers in their own words: Looking at Biden’s $2 trillion plan |
||||||||||
“If 2021 is the sugar high, 2022 is about a training plan to get fit for the long term.”
– Gregory Daco, chief economist of Oxford Economics
While the $1.9 trillion COVID relief measure is putting billions of dollars in consumers’ pockets now, President Joe Biden’s $2 trillion plan to upgrade the nation’s infrastructure is intended to increase productivity for the long run by bolstering crumbling transportation networks and investing in research and development projects, for example. Daco estimates the economy will expand by 3% next year and Biden’s plan would tack on another half a percentage point.

Millions in the US face severe weather |
||||||||||
About 30 million people were in the risk areas for severe weather as of Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center. Damaging winds and tornadoes were main threats from Mississippi to the Carolinas, but heavy rain could also trigger additional flooding in Tennessee. The Weather Service also issued a flash flood watch for parts of Tennessee and surrounding states. Meanwhile, a blast of unusually cold air is poised to roar across the eastern U.S. over the next couple of days. In the eastern U.S., temperatures will be 15 to 25 degrees below average, the weather service said, and even colder wind chill values will enter the Southeast, Appalachians, and interior sections of the Northeast on Thursday. Freeze warnings and frost advisories are also in effect across portions of the Midwest and South for both Thursday and Friday mornings. And further north, in some parts of upstate New York, there could be as much as a foot of snow Thursday and into Friday.

Chuck Lorre’s controversial new sitcom set to debut |
||||||||||
Writer/producer Chuck Lorre’s new CBS sitcom “The United States of Al,” which faced a backlash even before its first episode , premieres Thursday (8:30 p.m. ET). “Al” centers on the friendship between Riley (Parker Young), an ex-Marine trying to adjust to life outside the service, and his unit’s Afghan interpreter, Awalmir, aka Al (Adhir Kalyan). Earlier this month, many on social media took issue with the fact that Kalyan is not Afghan; others worried the show would whitewash and stereotype relations between U.S. military members and Afghans. Executive producer Reza Aslan urged critics to wait until they see the show before weighing in.

13.) AXIOS
Axios AM
⚾ Good Thursday morning, and welcome to April. It’s Opening Day! Don’t be an April fool.
- Smart Brevity™ count: 1,150 words … 4½ minutes.
⚡ Overnight tragedy … In the third mass shooting in 16 days, a child was among four people killed at an office complex in Orange, Calif. Officers opened fire and the suspect was taken to a hospital. The latest.
America is on the verge of a fourth wave of the pandemic.
- It should be far less deadly than the previous three. But this persistent failure to contain the virus will only make it harder to put COVID-19 behind us, Axios’ Sam Baker and Andrew Witherspoon report.
Roughly 63,000 Americans per day were diagnosed with COVID over the past week. That’s a 17% increase from the week before, and echoes the rising caseloads of the second wave last summer.
- Average daily caseloads increased over the past week in 25 states. The biggest spikes were in Michigan and New York.
- Even as vaccinations climb, new cases declined in only five states, mainly in the Southeast.
What we’re watching: Hospitalizations are still rising. But 73% of seniors have gotten at least one dose of vaccine.

White House senior adviser Anita Dunn is arguing to Democrats that big parts of President Biden’s infrastructure plan poll even higher than the $1.9 trillion COVID stimulus, Axios’ Sarah Mucha writes.
- “Key components of President Biden’s American Jobs Plan are overwhelmingly popular — among a bipartisan and broad coalition,” Dunn wrote in a memo to political allies.
Why it matters: With a price tag of between $2.2 trillion and $2.7 trillion depending on how it’s calculated, the plan faces resistance from some moderate Democrats.
Dunn cites public polling showing between 74% and 87% support among Americans for seven elements: new job training for coal miners, highway and bridge work, increasing affordable childcare, expanding broadband access, expanding family and medical leave, upgrading public transportation, and investing in clean energy.
- The individual elements garner higher bipartisan support than when Americans are simply asked if they support a new infrastructure bill.

Signaling turbulence ahead, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow last night that President Biden’s $2 trillion+ infrastructure plan should be “way higher.”
- “The vision … has surprised a lot of us in a positive way,” the congresswoman said. “Except … that $2.2 trillion … over eight years, I have serious concerns that it’s not enough to realize the very inspiring vision that Biden has advanced.”
Why it matters: This package looks to be way harder for the White House than the COVID stimulus. Biden is also being squeezed from the other side by moderate Dems skeptical of some of his proposed tax hikes.
When asked whether the House should grow the bill before it goes to the Senate, the congresswoman replied: “Absolutely.”
If we could wave a magic wand, and progressives in the House were able to name any number and get it through — which obviously isn’t the case, but if we’re looking at ideals … we’re talking about, realistically, $10 trillion over 10 years.
President Biden doesn’t publicly talk about stock market performance during his time in office, but he’s slightly outpacing his more boastful predecessor, Axios Pro Rata author and “Re:Cap” host Dan Primack writes.
- The S&P 500 increased by 4.6% during the first 50 trading days of the Biden presidency, from market close on Jan. 19 to market close on March 31. President Trump’s first 50-day bump was 4.4%, whereas President Obama was down 6.1%.
- Biden also outperformed Trump in the Dow industrials. But Trump topped Biden on the NASDAQ.

Big Tech dollars are becoming toxic in Washington, Margaret Harding McGill and Ashley Gold write.
- Lawmakers compared Big Tech to Big Tobacco during a hearing with tech CEOs last week, and a key House Republican is forswearing industry donations.
- The lead Republican on the House Judiciary antitrust subcommittee, Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.), announced last week he will stop accepting donations from Amazon, Facebook and Google.
The catch: Plenty of officeholders still welcome tech contributions. And tech companies are doing their own rethink of how they give to candidates following the Capitol riot.

The Derek Chauvin trial is being followed around the globe, with international news channels carrying hours and hours of live testimony. BBC deployed nearly 20 staffers to Minneapolis from radio, TV and digital.
- The trial’s power was encapsulated on Day 3 by the riveting testimony of Charles McMillian, 61, who witnessed the death of George Floyd, and broke down on the stand after reliving the horror through an officer’s bodycam footage.
BBC correspondent Larry Madowo talked yesterday about the re-traumatizing effect of the testimony:
I’m not African American, but I’m a Black man living in America … I’ve seen the effect and the emotional toll it’s got on the Black community … I see people who are going to therapy now — people who are seeking support in different ways.

A Baltimore plant ruined a batch of ingredients that would have gone into millions of doses of Johnson & Johnson’s coronavirus vaccine — but sources familiar with the process tell Axios Vitals author Caitlin Owens that the setback may not be bad.
- The accident ruined up to 15 million doses of J&J’s vaccine, the N.Y. Times reported.
- “Ultimately, it’s a blip, and I think everyone expected there to be issues somewhere at some point,” a former Operation Warp Speed official told Axios.

Apple CEO Tim Cook, an Alabama native with a lifelong interest in civil rights, joins condemnations of Georgia’s new voting law, in a statement provided first to Axios:
The right to vote is fundamental in a democracy. American history is the story of expanding the right to vote to all citizens, and Black people, in particular, have had to march, struggle and even give their lives for more than a century to defend that right.
Apple believes that, thanks in part to the power of technology, it ought to be easier than ever for every eligible citizen to exercise their right to vote. We support efforts to ensure that our democracy’s future is more hopeful and inclusive than its past.

“The number of high school graduates who immediately went on to college in fall 2020 declined 6.8% compared with the previous year,” Katie Reilly writes in the TIME cover story.
- “The drop was more stark at high-poverty high schools, where the number of graduates enrolling in college fell 11.4%, compared with a drop of 2.9% at low-poverty high schools.”
- “In the fall 2020 semester, freshman enrollment across all colleges plummeted a record 13% from a year earlier, and at community colleges, the drop was 21%.”
Read the package, posting soon.
As fans return for openers today amid pandemic attendance restrictions, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred can envision filled ballparks by midseason.
- This Axios Sports chart shows capacity will be limited to 12% in Boston and D.C.
- Only the Texas Rangers, outside Dallas, are allowing 100%.
“I hope by midsummer that we have ballparks that are unrestricted and we have full fan access,” Manfred told AP’s Ronald Blum. “I’m just hopeful we’re going to be able to play a season that looks like normal.”
- “We’re an outdoor sport,” Manfred said. “I think it’s safe or safer to go to outdoor activities. Everybody seems to agree on that.”
- “I think that there’s pent-up demand for entertainment products, and we’re going to do everything we possibly can to take the best opportunity to take advantage of that.”
🥊 President Biden criticized the Rangers for filling 40,300-seat Globe Life Field. “I think it’s a mistake,” he told ESPN. “They should listen to Dr. Fauci, the scientists and the experts. But I think it’s not responsible.”

Presented by Facebook
DRIVING THE DAY
It’s been barely three months since he left office, but former President DONALD TRUMP is already reorganizing his nascent post-White House political operation, bringing in veteran political consultant SUSIE WILES to instill order.
Wiles has been tasked with overseeing Trump’s fundraising operation and creating a system for issuing endorsements. Notably, she will layer over Trump’s former campaign manager BILL STEPIEN and deputy JUSTIN CLARK, as well as the committee of people who currently help decide endorsements. While Trump has expressed frustration with Stepien and Clark — as he has with many of his previous chiefs of staff and campaign managers — he is not firing them.
Wiles — who previously managed the campaigns of Florida Sen. RICK SCOTT and Gov. RON DESANTIS and led Trump’s Florida operation during much of his two campaigns there — has been quietly working behind the scenes for weeks. But Trump has been more vocal about centralizing her power until he’s satisfied with the new direction of his political operation.
“The president tells everyone around Mar-a-Lago that Susie is now in charge,” an adviser said.
News of Wiles’ appointment was first reported Wednesday night by Insider.
Another source said Trump is suspicious of a number of aides around him with separate clients — specifically whether they’re using their connections to him to generate business. “There was a lot of smoke around, ‘If I’m your consultant then I can get the president to endorse him,’” said another Trump adviser. “Making money off [him] or using [him] is the thing he hates the most.”
In a story out today, our Meridith McGraw and Gabby Orr report that a top Trump donor complained recently that he received an unsolicited call from a Republican candidate seeking financial support. That prompted questions about whether a former Trump campaign aide improperly accessed his donor list to help out a new client.
Jones Day, which served as counsel to Trump’s campaign committee, then dashed off a letter to former Trump staff and consultants warning that they risked prosecution if they misused campaign resources. Recipients were ordered to destroy or return any information they might have taken from the Trump campaign’s vast donor database.
Wiles is being tasked with nipping this drama in the bud.
She will oversee three Trump fundraising entities: a super PAC, a 501(c)(4) and the Save America Leadership PAC. The super PAC, which has not yet been registered, was supposed to be led by onetime campaign manager COREY LEWANDOWSKI, but instead he will be running a separate 501(c)(4).
In addition to the money operation, Wiles will be in charge of vetting candidates seeking Trump’s endorsement, including evaluating their votes, their past statements on Trump and their polling numbers.
“They were just flying by the seat of their pants,” an adviser said of the existing cast, mentioning that Trump misses having a built-in organization like he did in the White House. (While Trump professes to want order, he notoriously tramples any processes that impinge on his freedom to do what he pleases. A “Trump gatekeeper” was an oxymoron during his time in the White House.)
Trump, through a spokesperson, denied that he is upset with the political operation pre-Wiles. His spokesperson JASON MILLER called the assertion “100 percent false.” Stepien and Clark declined to comment.
“Susie has been a great teammate for two successful presidential campaigns in Florida and we’re glad to have her join the all-stars already assembled. Watch out 2022!” Miller said in a statement.
Good Thursday morning and April Fools’ Day. We will spare you a lame attempt at early-morning humor and get on with it. Got a tip? A document to share? Drop us a line: Rachael Bade, Eugene Daniels, Ryan Lizza, Tara Palmeri.
JOIN US — President JOE BIDEN’S agenda is moving along with an ambitious timeline of having enough Covid-19 vaccines for all adults by the end of May, the deployment of $1.9 trillion in pandemic relief and a multitrillion-dollar infrastructure plan. But the White House is also dealing with a rise in the number of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border, the fallout from back-to-back mass shootings and a coming showdown over the Senate filibuster. Join RYAN today at 9 a.m. for a conversation with White House chief of staff RON KLAIN to discuss what’s next on Biden’s agenda. Register here
NUMBER OF THE DAY: $6 MILLION — That’s how much Speaker NANCY PELOSI raised during her Hill recess. In two — yes, TWO — days. It’s the largest 48-hour sum she’s ever hauled in, we’re told by her team.
HUNTER’S BOOK ARRIVES — WaPo reviews HUNTER BIDEN’S new book, “Beautiful Things,” calling it “a memoir at once harrowing, relentless and a determined exercise in trying to seize his own narrative from the clutches of the Republicans and the press.” Marianne Szegedy-Maszak writes that the book “is organized around two parallel narratives: pervasive grief over Beau’s absence and the unvarnished confessional of an addict. Page after page features assertions of the brothers’ closeness juxtaposed with gallons of vodka, bowls of crack, dissolute characters parading in and out of trashed hotel rooms — both five-star and no-star — and repeated failed treatment efforts.
“And then there is the almost Shakespearean specter of Joe Biden, the agonized father grieving the loss of one son and terrified at his inability to prevent the slow suicidal decline of the other. Hunter addresses the political strain he caused his father, notably by the public drubbing the son endured for his role with Burisma. Hunter calls that faux scandal cooked up by Trump and his cronies ‘the decade’s biggest political fable … most remarkable for its epic banality.’”
BIDEN’S THURSDAY — The president and VP KAMALA HARRIS will receive the President’s Daily Brief at 10:15 a.m. and have lunch together at 12:15 p.m. Biden will hold his first Cabinet meeting at 1:15 p.m. in the East Room. More from the AP
— Harris will meet virtually with the founding members of the COVID-19 Community Corps to discuss Covid-19 public education efforts at 9:15 a.m. in the South Court Auditorium. Harris and second gentleman DOUG EMHOFF will depart D.C. at 5 p.m. en route to Los Angeles, where they will stay through Easter Sunday.
— Press secretary JEN PSAKI will brief at noon.
THE HOUSE will meet at 9 a.m. and THE SENATE at 10 a.m., both pro forma sessions. Pelosi will hold her weekly press conference virtually at 2 p.m.

THE NEXT SIX MONTHS (GIVE OR TAKE) IN CONGRESS — “Infrastructure Year: Dems brace for brutal slog to pass Biden’s $2.5T plan,” by Marianne LeVine, Sarah Ferris and Melanie Zanona: “Absent a seismic political shift, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer will have to draft a sprawling bill that can only afford to lose three Democratic votes in the House and zero in the Senate. Because Democrats are expecting to use their budget powers to steer the bill past a Senate filibuster, Biden’s infrastructure plan would also need to survive a slew of procedural hurdles that could further split the party.
“The infrastructure debate amounts to a political ultra-marathon for Biden and his Democratic-led Congress, a stark contrast with the mostly breezy path to approving Biden’s $1.9 trillion pandemic relief bill. Party leaders will be under immense pressure from their base to deliver, while also protecting the political future of their most endangered members, some of whom are already anxious about GOP attacks on proposed tax hikes, ahead of the midterm elections.”
LATEST GAETZ-GATE — “Gaetz investigation complicated by overture to his father about ex-FBI agent who went missing,” WaPo: “The men who approached Don Gaetz, people familiar with the matter said, had no apparent connection to the sex-crimes investigation of his son, other than having somehow learned about it before it was publicly reported. But when news of law enforcement’s interest in Gaetz surfaced Tuesday, the congressman asserted that the allegation was ‘rooted in an extortion effort against my family for $25 million,’ and he identified by name a former federal prosecutor who he said was part of the effort. …
“While the Justice Department investigates Gaetz, the FBI is separately examining whether the request to his father about [Robert] Levinson might constitute extortion, with Gaetz and his family as possible victims. A Justice Department spokesman declined to comment.”
THE WHITE HOUSE
BIDEN’S BFD — “40 Years After Reagan, a Bet Big Government Can Get Something Done,” NYT: “It has been 40 years since President Ronald Reagan declared in his first inaugural address that ‘government is not the solution to our problems, government is the problem.’ The infrastructure plan that President Biden described on Wednesday … is a bet that government can do colossal things that the private sector cannot. …
“It will take years to know whether Mr. Biden’s initiative will have the lasting power of the New Deal or the Great Society, or whether it can ‘change the paradigm,’ as he argued a few weeks ago. Yet it is already clear it is based on the gamble that the country is ready to dispense with one of the main tenets of the Reagan revolution, and show that for some tasks the government can jump-start the economy more efficiently than market forces. Mr. Biden has also made a bet that the trauma of the coronavirus pandemic and the social and racial inequities it underscored have changed the political center of gravity for the nation.”

PLAYING HARDBALL — “Biden endorses moving MLB All-Star Game out of Georgia,” by Benjamin Din: “President Joe Biden on Wednesday said he would ‘strongly support’ moving the Major League Baseball All-Star Game out of Atlanta in response to Georgia’s newly passed voting law that critics say restricts voting access. …
“Biden’s comments joined a growing chorus of voices that have called on the MLB to move its marquee summertime game out of Cobb County, as part of a larger effort to boycott organizations headquartered in the state that have remained silent on the voting rights issue, as well as major sporting events, including golf’s annual Masters Tournament.”
POLITICS CORNER
BOWING TO REALITY — “Democrat drops election contest in Iowa House race,” by Sarah Ferris and Ally Mutnick: “Rita Hart, a former state senator, said Wednesday she is withdrawing her contest with the House Administration Committee, which she had asked to review the November election, arguing that roughly two dozen ballots were improperly rejected by local officials and would have flipped the result.
“With Hart no longer contesting the results, the House panel will move to dismiss Hart’s complaint. Republicans had mounted a sustained PR campaign against the committee’s review, calling it an improper use of congressional resources to resolve a state election issue after the race had already been certified and Miller-Meeks was sworn in. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy traveled to Iowa this week to show his support for Miller-Meeks.”
IF YOU WANT TO UNDERSTAND THIS ROUND OF REDISTRICTING — Read Tom Edsall’s latest in the Times. He gives a master class and concludes: “Without approval of the kind of election reform the voting rights bill seeks, the odds will shift further against continued Democratic control of the House and Senate and possibly result in another Democratic president ground down by gridlock.”
PANDEMIC
YIKES … “White House knew more than a week ago of Johnson & Johnson contractor vaccine-supply problems,” by Erin Banco, Sarah Owermohle and Rachel Roubein: “The news that the contractor, Emergent BioSolutions, had ruined 15 million doses of Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine by mistakenly mixing it with ingredients from another coronavirus shot became public on Wednesday.
“But two senior officials working on the federal government’s Covid-19 response told POLITICO that it became clear earlier this month that there were significant problems at Emergent’s West Baltimore plant, where the company was producing the active ingredient — or drug substance — for J&J’s vaccine. The officials said they had not known the exact details of the situation.”
Morning Consult is out with a weekly tracker looking at public trust in a variety of institutions, from government and the military to Hollywood and Silicon Valley. We got an early look at the data and zeroed in on three institutions with the biggest trust disparities by party: the U.S. government, the police and the news media. The survey asked respondents to choose their level of trust from “a lot,” “some,” “not much” and “not at all.”
We tracked the percentage of respondents who said they had “a lot” of or “some” trust in these three institutions, from October to now. Republicans generally have a lot of trust in the police, with the number of those who had at least some trust never dipping below 80%, while Democrats’ trust in police hovered around 60%. The percentage of Democrats who trust the media consistently hovered above 50%, vs. less than a third of Republicans.
As for trust in the government, there’s been a bit more back and forth. Republicans began the polling in October with a high mark of 67%, vs. 41% among Democrats. In the first poll after Election Day, Democrats shot up to 54%, while Republicans dropped to 51%, and it has been a steady downward slope for the GOP ever since. Following Biden’s inauguration, 65% of Democrats said they had at least some trust, while only 42% of Republicans echoed the sentiment. Current numbers stand at 60% for Democrats and 34% for Republicans. See the full tracker from Morning Consult

The Morning Briefing: LOL Words Don’t Mean Anything and Everything Is Racist Now
Top O’ the Briefing
Do You Even Racist, Bro?
Happy Thursday, fellow travelers along the Kruiser Morning Briefing Way. Do I look fat in this snark?
There is so much to learn about ourselves, society, and history if we just put aside our privilege and pay attention to the ongoing, probably drug-induced, fictional account of reality that leftists are writing these days.
Everything in their telling of the story is different than what most have learned, feel, or see in front of us. I occasionally think that the progs are visiting from a parallel dimension and sharing accounts of what things are like in their worlds. Turns out they are all living here. They’re just experiencing things differently.
Miserably, mostly.
We’ve known for a while now that the Left rejects absolute truth and objective reality. They probably hate apple pie too, but that’s going to require further research.
The current state of the leftist collective fever focuses on creating permanent divisions among people that go above and beyond the ones that already exist. Yes, we’re often a terrible species, but they’d like us to find new reasons to hate each other and ourselves.
A great way to do that is to just start making stuff up.
Matt had a couple of posts yesterday that perfectly illustrated how the Left is working overtime to convince people that white supremacy and racism permeate, well, everything.
The first one had to do with a dictionary arbitrarily redefining words to mean something other than what they actually mean:
Merriam-Webster has recently updated its definition of what it means to be racially color-blind. And, in a nutshell, it means it’s impossible to not be racist.
Under the second definition of “color-blind” it says the meaning of the word is “not influenced by differences of race” and especially “treating all people the same regardless of race.”
Ahh, but there’s a catch. According to the expanded definition, you can still be racist if you treat all people the same regardless of race. Why is that? According to the recently added note to the definition “While sense 2 can be used with positive connotations of freedom from racial prejudice, it often suggests a failure or refusal to acknowledge or address the many racial inequities that exist in society, or to acknowledge important aspects of racial identity.”
Got that, everyone? Even if you’re doing it right you’re doing it wrong. Put another way, if you aren’t being racist it’s probably because you’re a racist.
The lunacy is positively dizzying.
The second post features Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wasting what few brain cells she has left:
“They wanna say, ‘But what about the surge?’” Ocasio-Cortez during an Instagram Live session on Tuesday. “Well, first of all, just gut check, stop. Anyone who’s using the term ‘surge’ around you consciously is trying to invoke a militaristic frame.”
“And that’s a problem because this is not a surge, these are children and they are not insurgents and we are not being invaded, which by the way is a white supremacist idea-philosophy, the idea that if another is coming in the population that this is an invasion of who we are,” the former bartender continued.
I’m convinced that America’s dumbest bartender doesn’t know the meanings of half of the words she uses. Fortunately for her, the people who vote for her are even dumber than she is. All she has to do is steal somebody’s Word of the Day calendar and she can dazzle them with nonsensical things like it’s not a surge because they’re not insurgents. I wouldn’t be shocked to find that they toddler-proof the electrical outlets in her office.
As I am fond of saying, when everything is racist, nothing is racist. What I mean by that is the Left’s arbitrary assignation of racist motives as a smear tactic when targeting anyone or anything they don’t like (both long lists) trivializes something serious and distracts from actual incidents of racism.
AOC is playing the race card to deflect from the fact that she’s had no negative reaction to Biden’s border catastrophe. When something similar but less critical was happening on the border during Trump’s presidency she donned her best attention you-know-what clothes and headed down there for a photo op to condemn the president. Now that Biden is in office, the problem isn’t really the problem anymore. What people are calling the problem is the problem.
I’m surprised Dems aren’t burping up manure at this point.
The only “systemic” problem in the United States today is the systemic prevarication of Democrats and their media mouthpieces regarding pretty much everything.
The real world is not amused.

Happy Thursday! There’s regular season baseball. Today. Like, in a few hours.
Quick Hits: Today’s Top Stories
- Pfizer and BioNTech announced Wednesday that their COVID-19 vaccine was 100 percent effective for adolescents ages 12 to 15 in a Phase 3 clinical trial. The companies plan to submit the data to the Food and Drug Administration to broaden the vaccine’s current emergency use authorization.
- Iowa Democrat Rita Hart on Wednesday formally withdrew her challenge of Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks’ election win, which had been certified by Iowa’s bipartisan state elections board. A growing number of congressional Democrats had expressed uneasiness with the prospect of overturning the election result in the House.
- Human error at a vaccine manufacturing plant in Baltimore run by Emergent BioSolutions may have rendered up to 15 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine unusable. The mistake does not affect any doses currently in circulation or scheduled to go out next week (those were produced in the Netherlands), but will likely slow the vaccine’s rollout over the coming month.
- Amid another surge in new COVID-19 cases, French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Wednesday a three-week school closure and month-long domestic travel ban. Both provisions are effective nationwide.
- New York on Wednesday became the 15th state in the country to allow recreational marijuana when Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a bill legalizing adult-use cannabis. The tax revenue generated from the move will go toward education, community reinvestment grants, and a drug treatment/public education fund.
- The Defense Department on Wednesday announced a policy update undoing the Trump administration’s limits on transgender people serving in the military. The revised rules will allow transgender service members to receive transition-related medical services, a Pentagon spokesman said.
- The United States confirmed 65,544 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday per the Johns Hopkins University COVID-19 Dashboard, with 6 percent of the 1,088,790 tests reported coming back positive. An additional 1,064 deaths were attributed to the virus on Wednesday, bringing the pandemic’s American death toll to 552,019. According to the Centers for Disease Control, 33,933 Americans are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, and 2,670,947 COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered yesterday. 97,593,290 Americans have now received at least one dose.
Biden Unveils $2 Trillion Infrastructure Plan
Twenty-five years ago, Bill Clinton famously declared in his 1996 State of the Union address “the era of big government is over.” The bold (if incorrect) claim helped Clinton position himself as a centrist as he began his successful run for reelection.
During his presidential campaign, Biden styled himself something of a centrist too. But just over two months into his presidency, one thing is abundantly clear: The era of big government is here once again.
Less than a month after Biden signed the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan into law, his administration unveiled yet another sweeping $2 trillion spending proposal on Wednesday aimed at boosting the post-pandemic economic recovery. (This comes on top of $5.3 trillion in previous pandemic-related spending, according to the Pete Peterson Foundation.) Unlike its predecessor, this proposal—called the American Jobs Plan (AJP)—shifts focus to broader infrastructure projects, devoting taxpayer dollars to transportation, energy, and research and development. The plan is the first of two major spending proposals the White House is expected to offer in the coming weeks.
To fund its many ambitious programs, the plan would incorporate a series of tax hikes that Biden claims would offset the cost of the AJP over a 15-year period. The revamped tax system would increase the corporate tax rate from 21 percent to 28 percent, partially undoing the 14 percent cut included in former President Trump’s 2017 tax law—and making the U.S. corporate tax rate among the highest in the world. The plan also boosts the global minimum tax rate for multinational corporations to 21 percent, regardless of where they’re headquartered.
Among its many infrastructure provisions, the AJP includes massive taxpayer investments in electrifying the nation’s transportation systems, expanding American access to clean drinking water, offering universal access to broadband, and funding affordable housing projects. The administration claims that in the effort to reach those goals, the proposal would create “millions and millions” of American jobs.
Don’t Call It a Comeback
On March 10, we wrote to you about Sen. Roy Blunt of Missouri, and his plans to retire from Congress next year. It’s only been a couple of weeks, but the race to succeed him is already heating up—and former Gov. Eric Greitens is making his move.
If you’ve heard of Greitens at all, it’s likely because of the lurid scandal that brought down his governorship back in 2018, as Andrew details in a piece for the site today. “In January, the married governor admitted to having an affair during the campaign with his hairdresser,” he writes. “But the story immediately got stranger: That same day, a local news station released a recording of the woman claiming that Greitens had blindfolded her, taken a nude photo of her, and threatened to release it publicly if she told anyone about their liaison. The woman had not gone public with the claim herself; rather, her then-husband had secretly recorded her confessing it to him, then taken the recording to the press.” Investigators for the Republican state House later deemed the accusation credible. He was also facing an investigation into a possible campaign finance crime. With impeachment by his own party a near certainty, Greitens resigned in June.
Why does Greitens think he can rebound from that?
Greitens enters the race as an undeniable contender: A Remington Research/Missouri Scout poll last week put his support at 40 percent, compared to 39 percent for state attorney general Eric Schmitt. But with shocking scandals still fresh in voters’ minds, a lack of allies in the state, and several other strong challengers preparing to enter the race, whether the former governor can turn back the clock remains to be seen.
Greitens never fully lost one thing: the support of his base. Even in the thick of the scandal, more than half of state Republicans said he shouldn’t resign. Having spent the intervening years pushing the narrative that the accusations against him were nothing more than a political witch hunt, Greitens started looking for an opportunity to make a comeback.
Gregg Keller, a prominent Missouri GOP strategist, doesn’t hide his animosity toward the former governor: “Eric Greitens is a woman-beater and a blackmailer and a liar and a thief,” he told The Dispatch. But he doesn’t count Greitens out of the race, either: “I’m very worried about it. … Eric Greitens is sitting on a solid floor in a Republican primary on election day of between 25 and 35 percent.”
For Keller, the biggest question is whether Republicans who want to see Greitens lose will coalesce around another candidate, or whether the field will fragment again.
“The way I do the simple math is, let’s split the baby and let’s say that he’s sitting on a hard 30 percent. I think if it’s a three-way race, I think it becomes very interesting, and you see a situation where Greitens could possibly get in. I think in a four-way race, he probably becomes the favorite.”
Worth Your Time
- Democracy across the globe has declined for the 15th year in a row, according to Freedom House’s annual “Freedom in the World” report. Arch Puddington details this backsliding for American Purpose, explaining why today’s dictators are even worse than those of the past. “There are no Gorbachevs today, and while some regimes have faced serious street protests, they invariably succeed in neutralizing, and in some cases crushing, opposition movements,” he writes. “Today’s autocrats never apologize and seldom compromise. They muzzle critics, destroy private-sector adversaries, and treat opponents as traitors who owe their allegiance to the United States or the EU. They ensure that the key institutions of security, the police, secret police, and military are in competent and loyal hands. The system has worked well.”
- A little more than a half-century ago, electing a Catholic president was seen as essentially putting the Pope in the Oval Office. Today, Catholics hold some of the highest offices in the land, including the speaker of the House, six of nine Supreme Court seats, and, once again, the presidency. But not all Catholics are thrilled. In a piece for Time, Brian Bennett explores how the Biden administration is highlighting the rifts in the American Catholic Church. “While Biden campaigned on some key policies the church favors—including advancing racial justice, ending the death penalty, addressing climate change and aiding refugees—he also advocates policies out of step with Catholic doctrine, such as expanding access to reproductive health care and increasing gay and transgender rights,” Bennett writes. “For many top bishops and conservative voters, Biden embodies a more liberal version of the faith that poses a threat to the future of the church in America.”

- Momentum for D.C. statehood is growing on the left, and Jonah covers the issue’s partisan nature in Wednesday’s G-File (🔒). “I don’t dispute for a moment that most Republicans oppose statehood for precisely the reasons [Washington Post columnist E.J.] Dionne suspects. My point is that most Democrats favor it for precisely the same reason,” he writes. “Not everyone in this debate is a partisan. But take out the partisan priorities, and nobody would be debating it.”
- In his this week’s edition of Capitolism (🔒), Scott goes deep on the Suez Canal and the big boat—and what the saga says about global trade. “Canals and container ships are just two of the many incredible technologies that allow us to enjoy the benefits of the global economy every day,” he writes. “These hidden miracles obliterate the all-too-common populist claim that ‘globalization’ is some sort of new and top-down phenomenon forced upon The People via backroom ‘trade deals’ drafted by a cabal of uncaring political elites.”
- “Far-left attacks on social conservative free speech and religious liberty have mainly resulted in a legal rout of the left and the strengthening of the First Amendment. Key American freedoms are less fragile than they were even a decade ago,” David writes in yesterday’s French Press (🔒). But “the attacks are still very real. There is a relentless far-left attempt to undermine the First Amendment across a broad front. The existence of those attacks is deeply alarming to millions of social conservatives, and if we want to de-escalate conservative Christian concern, it’s not enough to tell Christians to chill out. Progressives should tell their most radical allies to cease fire.”

KEY POINTS FROM THIS ARTICLE— The predictive power of demographics makes county margins strongly correlated and thus inferable from each other. Comparing the actual results to the expected results based on county demographics gives us a better idea of candidate performance. — In the 2020 presidential election, Democrats overperformed in states with high numbers of educated white voters, such as Texas, Arizona, and Georgia. They also began to show signs of hitting their electoral floors in much of Appalachia. — Strong Republican showings with evangelicals, non-college whites, and Hispanics helped Trump overperform in Florida, Iowa, and Ohio. Where Biden and Trump overperformed in 2020Was the swing in South Texas’ Rio Grande Valley really all that surprising in the context of the 2020 election results? Were the sharp swings left in New England really anything extraordinary, given how the rest of the nation voted? Candidates and parties often chalk up results in individual areas to factors solely dependent on those areas themselves, but in 2020, the predictive power of demographics has made county margins stunningly correlated and inferable. Counties do not vote independently of each other; in fact, given nationwide results and an area’s underlying demographics, we can actually predict an individual county’s 2020 partisanship at the presidential level to within an average of 2.4%! In this article, we will use a regression-based model that regresses 2020 results against the demographics, trends, and partisanship on a county-level basis, and we will use this to examine candidate performance in an area. Put simply, it will tell us how much a county’s margin deviated from the expected result in the context of the national environment. This helps us establish a better baseline for expected results on a statewide basis, which helps us better evaluate how well a party or a candidate actually did in a given state compared to what demographics and the national environment would have predicted. For example, Texas is a state in which many Democrats expected to do better than the R +5.6 margin that actually occurred, but the nationwide results suggest that they actually did extremely well in keeping it as close as they did: The modeled underlying factors would have actually suggested an R +8.2 margin in the Lone Star State. In this manner, examining the results for the two major presidential candidates on a county-level basis against what was expected will give us a better picture of candidate over and under-performance. In this article, we will do this for several regions of interest in the 2020 election. The factors we consider will be race, religion, age, income, education, partisanship, urbanization, 2016 partisanship, and the demographic and partisan trends of an area between 2012 and 2016. In calculating performance above expected, we will be comparing the true two-party partisan margin to the expected one. Below, we see a national map showing each candidate’s overperformance by county (you can click on any of the maps to see a larger version). Map 1: Where Biden or Trump did better than model expectationsAPPALACHIAMap 2: Biden/Trump performance relative to model expectations in AppalachiaThis theory is supported by Biden’s performances in West Virginia (+2.4 Biden PAE) and Tennessee (+0.6 Biden PAE). The mountain areas of both states saw a Biden overperformance despite being relatively racially homogenous, rural, and with a high concentration of low-income, religious non-college whites. These are the types of areas that swung rightward across the nation, but in the core Appalachian states, Biden managed to buck this trend to some degree (even as Trump still won these states in landslides overall). The Appalachian overperformances extended to north Georgia, north Alabama, and western North Carolina as well, giving some hints that the non-Midwestern parts of the region as a whole, which have been more Republican-leaning for quite some time, may now be hitting a floor in Democratic support. THE SOUTHMap 3: Biden/Trump performance relative to model expectations in the SouthGeorgia (+1.9 Biden PAE) was arguably the biggest Democratic success story of the cycle, with Democrats picking up two Senate seats in the runoff and flipping the state at the presidential level for the first time since 1992. Biden’s significant strength with white, well-off social liberals in the suburban Atlanta area was key to powering this flip; had it voted in line with expectations, Republicans would have actually held the state. Biden’s overperformance here was manifested in his doing five-and-a-half points above expected in Gwinnett County and eight points above expected in Henry, which showed just how different the state’s voting patterns are as compared to those seen even eight years ago. Interestingly, we see that Democrats also overperformed in the Appalachian region of north Georgia, which is consistent with the results observed in Kentucky, West Virginia, and Tennessee and may hint at a plateau of Republican support being hit in these areas. Meanwhile, in Florida (+3.8 Trump PAE), the Republican Party overperformed all across the state, and this is best shown by Trump making significant inroads into the Democratic bases in Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties (the three big southeastern counties situated along the Atlantic coast), where he performed anywhere between seven to nine points above expected, depending on the county. Trump’s strength with Cubans and other voters with Caribbean ancestry meant Democrats did not hit the necessary margins in any of these three counties that they needed in order to win the state, which negated their gains in other parts of the state, such as the Jacksonville and Pensacola areas. Had Florida voted as demographics predicted, Democrats may have won the state; as it was, however, they suffered their largest loss at the presidential level there since 2004. North Carolina (+0.8 Trump PAE) is another fascinating case study, as Democrats appear to have suffered from extremely low rural Black turnout in the east of the state. This, combined with their underperformances in Durham, Mecklenburg (Charlotte), and Wake (Raleigh) — between one to three percentage points below expected, depending on the county — cost them the state. Interestingly, the western part of North Carolina, which is part of Appalachia, saw an overperformance consistent with those seen in Kentucky, Georgia, Tennessee, and West Virginia, again providing more evidence for the notion that Democrats may be near or rebounding from their floor in these areas. Finally, on an interesting note, Arkansas (+2.2 Trump PAE) saw one of the largest Trump overperformances. It is possible that Hillary Clinton, the state’s former first lady, may have actually had some residual strength in the state that prevented it from sliding as far right as it may have otherwise done in 2016; thus, in 2020, Trump swung more votes than one may have expected, enabling him to carry the state by 28 points, a slight improvement on his 2016 showing. THE WESTERN SUN BELTMap 4: Biden/Trump performance relative to model expectations in the Western Sun BeltTexas, however, voted for Trump by nine points in 2016, and the heavy vote firewall that Republicans held meant that even a sharp swing left overall still saw Trump carry the state by 5.6 points. Biden was hurt in part by heavy swings towards the Republicans in the Rio Grande Valley. However, in the context of national results, Biden actually overperformed quite significantly in the state despite what the raw vote margin may have indicated, aided largely by his strength with white college voters in the Austin, Dallas-Ft. Worth, San Antonio, and Houston metro areas. In particular, he performed nine points above average in San Antonio, between three to six points above average in the Dallas-Fort Worth suburban quad (depending on the county), and six points above average in suburban Hays County, near Austin. All of these areas have a heavy concentration of white college-educated voters, but even accounting for that demographic group’s leftward turn across the nation, Biden still swung them by far more than what one would have expected given national results. The Rio Grande Valley saw a pronounced swing rightward, but much of it was actually expected based on the national Hispanic swing rightward. In particular, Webb County and Hidalgo County swung 28 and 23 points to the right, respectively, but each voted within 1% of what was expected. Meanwhile, Cameron County, which saw a 19-point swing rightward, actually saw Biden doing a point better than one would expect given national results. This suggests that the swing in the Rio Grande Valley was not necessarily reflective of issues limited to just that region of South Texas and was, in fact, part of a larger national swing right among Hispanics, especially among those who are religious and do not have a four-year college degree. MIDWESTMap 5: Biden/Trump performance relative to model expectations in the MidwestBiden overperformed in Michigan (+0.6 Biden PAE), Indiana (+0.8 Biden PAE), Missouri (+0.5 Biden PAE), and Minnesota (+0.4 Biden PAE). Interestingly, in carrying both Michigan and Minnesota, Biden’s overperformances were not only in areas with concentrations of educated white voters — Kent County, Michigan and Anoka County, Minnesota are both prime examples of this — but also in secular working-class counties such as Sibley County, Minnesota, in which Biden actually improved on Clinton’s margins, contrary to expectations. However, Biden’s relative overperformance in Michigan and Minnesota, while perhaps interesting to note, is still relatively slight as a whole; much of the swing left is explained entirely by the demographics of the two states, each of which saw better turnout and a sharp, yet expected, swing left by college whites, rather than any region-specific strength or weakness of either candidate. In contrast to his overperformances in Michigan and Minnesota, however, Biden underperformed in Illinois (+1.6 Trump PAE), Ohio (+2.3 Trump PAE), Wisconsin (+1.9 Trump PAE), Iowa (+1.6 Trump PAE), and Pennsylvania (+0.8 Trump PAE). Interestingly, however, these underperformances come for differing reasons, showcasing the coalitions that each candidate drew their respective strength from. Biden’s Wisconsin and Pennsylvania underperformances came primarily due to the suburban counties not swinging nearly as much as predicted. Biden underperformed quite significantly in the Philadelphia collar and in the suburban Wisconsin counties of Waukesha, Ozaukee, and Washington, which ensured that the states were far closer than one would have envisioned given the nationwide demographic swings among college-educated white voters. To the extent that any expected “home state bounce” materialized for Biden in Pennsylvania, it was largely limited to the northeast of the state, in and around his hometown of Scranton, shown by him doing three points better than expected in Lackawanna County. Compared to the results seen in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, Trump’s overperformances in Iowa and Ohio are notable because they come in areas with heavy rates of religiosity with previously high wells of Democratic support. These areas lurched far more sharply to the right than expected, and they were more than enough to ensure that the pre-election possibility of Biden carrying the two states would not come to fruition. It appears as if the Republican Party’s strength with evangelicals and religious, working-class whites may be beginning to take hold in areas where the realignment had not hit quite as strongly, and the rates of erosion in Democratic support were thus significantly faster than one might have expected given the other 2020 results across the nation. It is worth noting, also, that the Appalachian parts of Ohio and Pennsylvania saw Biden underperformances that diverged significantly from much of the rest of Appalachia, which has recently been (and still is) more Republican. It may be that these northern areas of Appalachia are continuing to align with the rest of the region’s voting patterns. NEW ENGLANDMap 6: Biden/Trump performance relative to model expectations in New EnglandThe only states where Biden performed more than a point above or below expectations were Maine (+1.7 Biden PAE) and Massachusetts (+1.1 Trump PAE). The others, Connecticut (+0.3 Biden PAE), Rhode Island (0.0 Biden PAE), New Hampshire (+0.8 Biden PAE), and Vermont (+0.7 Biden PAE), performed more in line with expectations. While the slight leftward swings in the latter four states were expected given their demographics, Biden’s performance was surprisingly stronger in Maine, where the proportion of college-educated voters is significantly lower than in other New England states, and weaker than usual in Massachusetts, which is highly educated in general and thus was expected to swing further to the left than it really did. ConclusionOverall, we see that the uniquely predictive power of demographics make swings extremely strongly correlated across the nation. The factors that caused Hispanics to swing right in areas like Southern California and Miami-Dade also were evident in the swing seen in the Rio Grande Valley, while the factors that saw white college voters take a sharp turn left were evident in states ranging from Michigan to Georgia to Texas. By isolating out these factors with a demographic regression model, we can better analyze overperformances with respect to the national environment, which helps us better understand electoral trends as well as the candidates’ strengths and weaknesses unique to states and areas.

#MeToo: Why do the ‘woke’ encourage migrant treks in which 80% of girls are raped?
Posted: 01 Apr 2021 05:42 AM PDT Pick a progressive. Any of them. Pick one from Hollywood, Washington DC, or mainstream media. The vast majority of them promote two agendas simultaneously. On one hand, they embrace the #MeToo narrative that’s intended to stop sexual assaults. On the other hand, they promote the open borders agenda in which millions of migrants are to take long treks to cross the southern border of the United States to claim asylum. These are contradictory agendas. By its nature, the #MeToo movement is supposed to protect women. But reality on the ground for migrants who are smuggled across the border is so horrific, we won’t publish the stories we’re hearing from border patrol agents. Their tales of women and especially the thousands of unaccompanied young girls being trafficked by cartel coyotes are absolutely heartbreaking. It’s almost certainly worse than most Americans can imagine. They travel thousands of miles, mostly by foot, and they are expected to participate in the pleasures of their “guides” who have been paid thousands of dollars to get them to America. Those who fight back are often murdered and left in the desert. Those who suffer through the journey and make it to America are broken. According to a report by progressive Huffington Post in 2017, nearly 80% of women and girls are raped along the way. Things improved during the Trump administration as policies halted a majority of potential migrants from suffering through the journey, but the Biden administration has opened the gates and put out the welcome mat. Now, the horrors are back. According to The Gateway Pundit: A shocking Fusion investigation in 2017 revealed that 80% of Central American women and girls were raped crossing Mexico into the United States. Today Joe Biden and Democrats are pushing unlimited illegal immigration into the United States. No children will be returned back home they said. And as a result of this 2 million illegal aliens and fake refugees are expected to flood across the US southern border this year. And 80% of the women coming up through Mexico can expect to be raped or sexually assaulted. Ben Swann reported on this stunning figure this week. What few are reporting on is speculation that the Biden administration as well as organizations like George Soros’ Open Society Foundations are on the ground in Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador pushing residents to make the journey. They have their own selfish reasons for wanting the flood gates to remain open for as long as possible, but they reportedly do not warn these people of the horrors they will face along the way. Again, this is all speculation from people who research such things, people who wish to remain anonymous out of fear from these groups. But it jibes. The only viable alternative is that husbands and parents are aware that their women and girls will be gang raped nightly for weeks and they’re okay with that. I refuse to accept that as possible. All the while, the “compassionate” leftists in America are calling for Biden’s open borders policies to get even looser. People like Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez can do photo-ops pretending to be concerned about “kids in cages,” but they say nothing about the gang rapes that get their de facto approval when they encourage migrants to be smuggled into the country. Cognitive dissonance is common among “woke” progressives. The mental gymnastics necessary to encourage migrants to experience sexual horrors at the hands of their “guides” is utterly sickening. ‘The Purge’ by Big Tech targets conservatives, including usJust when we thought the Covid-19 lockdowns were ending and our ability to stay afloat was improving, censorship reared its ugly head. For the last few months, NOQ Report has appealed to our readers for assistance in staying afloat through Covid-19 lockdowns. The downturn in the economy has limited our ability to generate proper ad revenue just as our traffic was skyrocketing. We had our first sustained stretch of three months with over a million visitors in November, December, and January, but February saw a dip. It wasn’t just the shortened month. We expected that. We also expected the continuation of dropping traffic from “woke” Big Tech companies like Google, Facebook, and Twitter, but it has actually been much worse than anticipated. Our Twitter account was banned. One of our YouTube accounts was banned and another has been suspended. Facebook “fact-checks” everything we post. Spotify canceled us. Why? Because we believe in the truth prevailing, and that means we will continue to discuss “taboo” topics. The 2020 presidential election was stolen. You can’t say that on Big Tech platforms without risking cancelation, but we’d rather get cancelled for telling the truth rather than staying around to repeat mainstream media’s lies. They have been covering it up since before the election and they’ve convinced the vast majority of conservative news outlets that they will be harmed if they continue to discuss voter fraud. We refuse to back down. The truth is the truth. The lies associated with Covid-19 are only slightly more prevalent than the suppression of valid scientific information that runs counter to the prescribed narrative. We should be allowed to ask questions about the vaccines, for example, as there is ample evidence for concern. One does not have to be an “anti-vaxxer” in order to want answers about vaccines that are still considered experimental and that have a track record in a short period of time of having side-effects. These questions are not allowed on Big Tech which is just another reason we are getting cancelled. There are more topics that they refuse to allow. In turn, we refuse to stop discussing them. Big Pharma likened mRNA treatments to ‘software updates.’ Now, they’re trying to change the vaccine narrative.
Posted: 01 Apr 2021 04:11 AM PDT There was a time not too long ago when the smart folks in Big Pharma were proud that they had developed technology through mRNA treatments that could change the structure of our DNA and even our genome. This was once heralded as breakthrough science and they boldly compared what they were doing to “software updates” we have on our computers and mobile devices.
That was then. Today, that narrative has been obliterated, not because anything has changed with the treatments but because its introduction into “vaccine” research forced a strategic decision to deny what they once promoted. Changing DNA for the sake of giving unproven protection against a disease with an extremely high recovery rate in those under the age of 70 seems a bit like overkill to the lucid. That’s because it is. On the latest episode of NOQ Report, JD and Tammy discussed this in-depth, referencing the article below by Dr. Joseph Mercola. As they and Dr. Mercola noted, the way this information is being suppressed is practically criminal. The powers that be are not interesting in “informed choice” or answering any questions about the experimental vaccines. They just want us to take it and move on. COVID-19 Vaccines Likened to ‘Software Updates’ for Your BodySTORY AT-A-GLANCE
I’ve discussed why COVID-19 vaccines are in fact gene therapies and not vaccines in several previous articles, including “COVID-19 mRNA Shots Are Legally Not Vaccines,” “COVID-19 ‘Vaccines’ Are Gene Therapy” and “How COVID-19 ‘Vaccines’ May Destroy the Lives of Millions.” However, despite being a recognized form of gene therapy since its inception, vaccine makers are now frantically trying to deny that this mRNA technology is gene therapy. One reason for this, suggested by David Martin, Ph.D.,1 might be because as long as they’re considered “vaccines,” they will be shielded from liability. Experimental gene therapies do not have financial liability shielding from the government, but pandemic vaccines do, even in the experimental stage, as long as the emergency use authorization is in effect. Another reason might be because they fear people won’t line up for experimental gene therapy. It has a very different connotation in people’s minds (as it should). A third possibility is that they know full well that you cannot, ethically, mandate gene therapy in the way you can mandate vaccines. Mandatory public health measure directives are typically based on the idea that it’s acceptable for some individuals to be harmed as long as the measure benefits the collective. Well, the COVID-19 “vaccines” are only designed to lessen symptoms of COVID-19. They do not prevent infection or spread, and since the vaccinated individual is the only one receiving a potential benefit, “the greater good” argument falls apart. Who knows, there may be other factors at play that we’ve not realized as of yet, but whatever the reason, they really do not want you to think of these injections as gene therapy. They want you to accept them as any other conventional vaccine. mRNA-Based Medicines Designed to Not Irreversibly Alter DNATry as they might, though, they cannot get rid of mRNA’s gene therapy label. For starters, Moderna describes its product as “gene therapy technology” in its SEC filings. On page 70, they also provide the following specifics:2
In other words, it’s a form of gene therapy, but one that doesn’t enter and permanently alter your actual DNA. Instead, the mRNA stays in the cellular fluid where ribosomes read the code and create the protein per the mRNA’s coding. The difference between vaccine mRNA and your natural mRNA is that your natural mRNA resides in the nucleus of the cell where your cellular DNA resides — it can be likened to a reverse photocopy of your DNA — and exits the nucleus when a protein needs to be made. This is in stark contrast to mRNA from vaccines, which is synthetic and enters the cell from the outside and is not designed to enter the nucleus. Additionally, your own mRNA is rapidly degraded by enzymes, but the one from the vaccine is protected in a liposome that will protect it from degradation and keep on producing spike proteins. How long? No one knows because it has never been tested. Can Vaccine mRNA Reverse-Transcribe Into Genome? However, some doctors still worry that mRNA injections might be able to reverse-transcribe into your genes and alter your DNA on a permanent basis. One is Dr. Richard Urso, an ophthalmologist, who shared his concerns on a December 2020 episode of The Shepard Ambellas Show.3,4 He claimed the mRNA of retroviruses (which are part of our genome) have been shown to have the ability to transcribe into your DNA, and if it can do that, vaccine mRNA might be able to do this as well. According to Urso, if this turns out to be correct, the result of mRNA vaccination might be lifelong COVID-19. Another skeptic is Dr. Doug Corrigan, who in a March 16, 2021, blog reviewed the findings of recent research5,6 showing SARS-CoV-2 RNA can reverse-transcribe into the human genome:7
A January 2020 Phys.org article,11 “Modified RNA Has a Direct Effect on DNA,” also notes that “it has now been revealed that RNA has a direct effect on DNA stability,” and this too may or may not play a role in mRNA therapy for COVID-19. Vaccine Makers Fear Negative Perception of Gene TherapyGetting back to Moderna’s SEC filing, in it, they also admit that public perception of other types of gene therapy may negatively impact perception of mRNA medicines. The problem, they admit, is that irreversible gene therapies have side effects, and knowing this, people might shun mRNA medicines too. The SEC filing goes on to note:12
Well, the pandemic allowed them to sneak mRNA gene therapy under the proverbial radar so that they don’t have to conduct more stringent gene therapy safety testing. Instead, they were handed the global population for the largest testing imaginable, and all without liability when something goes wrong — provided it’s viewed as a “vaccine,” that is. mRNA Therapies Classified as Gene Therapy in Europe and USThe SEC filing13 for BioNTech (BioNTech’s mRNA technology is used in the Pfizer vaccine) is equally clear, stating on page 21: “Although we expect to submit BLAs for our mRNA-based product candidates in the United States, and in the European Union, mRNA therapies have been classified as gene therapy medicinal products, other jurisdictions may consider our mRNA-based product candidates to be new drugs, not biologics or gene therapy medicinal products, and require different marketing applications.” So, in the U.S. and Europe, mRNA therapies, as a group, are classified as “gene therapy medicinal products.” The crux here, again, appears to be the idea that mRNA therapy does not cause permanent DNA alterations. On page 35 of the BioNTech SEC filing, they further clarify the alleged difference between other, irreversible, gene therapies and mRNA gene therapy:
Hacking the Software of LifeCompany executives and scientists familiar with mRNA technology have, for years, been referring to this new technology as gene therapy. The video above features a TED Talk by Dr. Tal Zaks, chief medical officer of Moderna, given in 2017, more than two full years before COVID-19. In it, he points out that they were, at that time, already working on a variety of vaccines, including an mRNA vaccine for influenza and individualized cancer vaccines based on the genetic sequence of the patient’s tumor, stressing that this vaccine would not act like any previous vaccine ever created.
How mRNA Vaccines WorkZaks further differentiates conventional vaccines and mRNA vaccines by explaining that when using a conventional vaccine, you have viral protein floating around outside the cell, whereas the mRNA approach reprograms the cell to create that viral protein inside of itself.
Zaks also refers to the company’s mRNA shots as “information therapy,” which is just another way of saying gene therapy because mRNA is a carrier of genetic code. (For clarification, code in your natural mRNA matches your DNA, whereas vaccine mRNA has no equivalence inside your genome since it’s coming from the outside. Vaccine mRNA still carries “genetic code,” though, just not anything found in your body before.) As explained on genome.gov:14
mRNA Technology Ushers in TranshumanismIn true technocratic, transhumanist Fourth Industrial Revolution fashion, Zaks and other mRNA pushers view the body as your hardware, your genetic code as software and these mRNA injections as software updates. As noted by Patrick Wood in a recent Technocracy News article:15
What Is Transhumanism? What exactly is transhumanism? Technocracy News describes16 it as “a twisted philosophy that believes in the use of high technology to transform humans into immortal beings … Furthermore, they seek to use genetic engineering to create a new master race of sorts, that will shed all of the ‘unseemly’ characteristics of humans.” Britannica defines17 it as a:
Great Reset Is a Transhumanist AgendaMiklos Lukacs de Pereny, research professor of science and technology policy at the Peruvian University San Martin de Porres, has given presentations18 and interviews19 in which he warns that transhumanism is part and parcel of the Great Reset and the Fourth Industrial Revolution agendas, which are being rolled out at a furious pace under the auspices of the COVID-19 pandemic. As reported by Life Site News, November 10, 2020:20
mRNA Technology Is Still Gene TherapyIn “COVID-19 ‘Vaccines’ Are Gene Therapy” (hyperlinked above), I provide even more background information showing that mRNA “vaccines” are in fact gene therapy, and how this technology has been viewed and presented as gene therapy in the past. The fact is, everywhere you look, mRNA technology, mRNA therapy and mRNA medicines — anything mRNA — have been, for years, treated as a form of gene therapy. Take the 2015 paper21 “mRNA: Fulfilling the Promise of Gene Therapy” in the journal Molecular Therapy. In this paper, the authors point out that in vitro-transcribed mRNA has the potential to play a role in gene therapy previously only envisioned for DNA. Back in 2009, the paper22 “Current Prospects for mRNA Gene Delivery” in the European Journal of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics noted that while “replication-deficient viruses have been used most successfully in the field of gene therapy … mRNA has … emerged as an attractive and promising alternative in the nonviral gene delivery field,” and a 2019 paper23 in Frontiers in Oncology discussed the therapeutic prospects of “mRNA-based gene therapy for glioblastoma.” If they want to call it “temporary gene therapy,” I’m OK with that — provided they can prove that it is in fact temporary, how long the effects last, and that vaccine mRNA cannot reverse-transcribe into the human genome like SARS-CoV-2 RNA apparently can. But to deny that it’s gene therapy altogether and insist that it’s simply an updated form of vaccine technology is simply impossible, as it does not perform any of the functions of an actual vaccine (i.e., prevent infection and spread). Do You Want to Update Your Software? Now, if our genetic makeup is to be viewed as “the software of life,” as Zaks puts it, then should we not have the sole authority to decide for ourselves whether we actually want a “software update,” be it temporary or permanent?
What to Do if You’ve Had a Change of HeartIf you already got the vaccine and now regret it, you may be able to address your symptoms using the same strategies you’d use to treat actual SARS-CoV-2 infection. I review these strategies at the end of “Why COVID Vaccine Testing Is a Farce.” Last but not least, if you got the vaccine and are having side effects, please help raise public awareness by reporting it. The Children’s Health Defense is calling on all who have suffered a side effect from a COVID-19 vaccine to do these three things:25

Meet the Russiagate prober who couldn’t verify anything in the Steele Dossier yet said nothing for years
Posted: 31 Mar 2021 10:11 PM PDT For the past four years, Democrats and the Washington media have suspended disbelief about the Steele dossier’s credibility by arguing that some Russia allegations against Donald Trump and his advisers have been corroborated and therefore the most explosive charges may also be true. But recently declassified secret testimony by the FBI official in charge of corroborating the dossier blows up that narrative. Article by Paul Sperry from RealClearInvestigations. The top analyst assigned to the FBI’s Russia “collusion” case, codenamed Crossfire Hurricane, admitted under oath that neither he nor his team of half a dozen intelligence analysts could confirm any of the allegations in the dossier — including ones the FBI nonetheless included in several warrant applications as evidence to establish legal grounds to electronically monitor a former Trump adviser for almost a year. FBI Supervisory Intelligence Analyst Brian Auten made the admission under questioning by staff investigators for the Senate Judiciary Committee during closed-door testimony in October. The committee only this year declassified the transcript, albeit with a number of redactions including the name of Auten, who was identified by congressional sources who spoke on condition of anonymity. “So with respect to the Steele reporting,” Auten told the committee, “the actual allegations and the actions described in those reports could not be corroborated.” After years of digging, Auten conceded that the only material in the dossier that he could verify was information that was already publicly available, such as names, entities, and positions held by persons mentioned in the document. Related: G-Man Taught a ‘Golden Rule’ He Failed to Follow Paul Sperry, RCIHis testimony, kept secret for several months, is eye-opening because it’s the first time anybody from the FBI has acknowledged headquarters failed to verify any of the dossier evidence supporting the wiretaps as true and correct. As one of the FBI’s leading experts on Russia, Auten was highly familiar with the subject matter of the dossier and the Russian players it cited. He also had a team of intelligence analysts at his disposal to pore over the material and chase down leads. They even traveled overseas to interview the dossier’s author, former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele, and other sources. Still, they could not corroborate any of the allegations of Trump-Russia “collusion” in the dossier, and actually debunked many of them — including the rumor, oft-repeated by the media, that Trump attorney Michael Cohen flew to Prague in the summer of 2016 to secretly huddle with Kremlin agents over an alleged Trump-Russia plot to hack the election. They determined that Cohen had never even been to the Czech Republic. Yet Auten and his Crossfire teammates — who referred to the dossier as “Crown material,” as if it were valuable intelligence from America’s closest ally, Britain — never informed a secret surveillance court that the dossier was a bust. Instead, they used it as the basis for all four warrant applications to spy on Carter Page, a tangential 2016 Trump campaign adviser. Former acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, who personally signed and approved the final application, has testified that without the dossier, the warrants could not have been obtained. Financed by the Hillary Clinton campaign in 2016 as opposition research against Trump, the dossier was used by the FBI to obtain Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court warrants to eavesdrop on Page from October 2016 to September 2017. A U.S. citizen, Page was accused of being a Russian agent, even though he previously assisted both the CIA and FBI in their efforts to hold Moscow in check. He was never charged with a crime and at least half the warrants have since been invalidated by the court. Page is now suing the FBI, as well as Auten, among other individual defendants, and is seeking a total of $75 million in damages. The bureau’s handling of the warrants is part of Special Counsel John Durham’s ongoing investigation into the government’s targeting of Trump and his campaign during the election, and later, the Trump presidency. In January, Durham secured a criminal conviction against top Crossfire lawyer Kevin Clinesmith for falsifying evidence against Page to help justify the last warrant issued in June 2017. It could not be ascertained whether Durham has interviewed Auten — a spokesman did not return messages — but Auten has hired one of the top white-collar criminal defense lawyers in Washington. And former federal law enforcement officials say Auten is certainly on Durham’s witness list. “That analyst needs to be investigated,” said former assistant FBI director and prosecutor Chris Swecker, noting that Auten is a central, if overlooked, figure in the FISA abuse scandal — and one who attended several meetings with McCabe in the Durham case. In fact, the 52-year-old analyst shows up at every major juncture in the Crossfire investigation. Auten, who did not respond to requests for comment directly or through his lawyer, was assigned to the case from its opening in July 2016 and supervised its analytical efforts, including researching other members of the Trump campaign who might serve as possible targets in addition to Page. He played a key supportive role for the agents preparing the FISA applications, including reviewing the probable-cause section of the applications and providing the agents with information about the sub-sources noted in the applications, and even drafting some of the language that ended up in the affidavits to spy on Page. He also helped prepare and review the FISA renewal drafts. A 15-year FBI veteran, Auten assisted the case agents in providing information on the reliability of FBI informant Steele and his sources and reviewing for accuracy their information cited in the body of the applications, as well as the footnotes. He also sifted through the emails, text messages and phone calls the FBI collected from the wiretaps on Page. He met with top Crossfire officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, briefed McCabe and then-FBI Director James Comey, and even ran meetings with case agents and analysts regarding the election-year investigation, which he testified “was done as a ‘headquarters special.’ ” In addition, Auten personally met with Steele and his “primary sub-source,” a Russian emigre living in the U.S., as well as former British intelligence colleagues of Steele. Auten also met with former Justice Department official Bruce Ohr and processed the material Ohr fed the FBI from Glenn Simpson, the political opposition research contractor who hired Steele to compile the anti-Trump dossier on behalf of the Clinton campaign. He was involved in key source interviews where David Laufman and other top Justice officials were present, and shows up on critical email chains with these officials, who are also subjects of interest in the Durham probe. Auten also attended meetings of a mysterious top-secret interagency entity, believed to have been overseen and budgeted by then-CIA Director John Brennan, known as the “Crossfire Hurricane Fusion Center,” or the Fusion Cell. Finally, it was Auten who provided analytical support to Special Counsel Robert Mueller when he took over the Crossfire case in May 2017. He brought his team of six analysts with him to Mueller’s office. As early as January 2017, Auten discovered that the dossier was larded with errors, misspellings, factual inaccuracies, conflicting accounts and wild rumors, according to a Justice Department inspector general report on the FISA abuses. Instead of disqualifying the dossier as evidence, the report found he let its unsubstantiated innuendo go into the FISA applications. Auten gave Steele the benefit of the doubt when sources or developments called into question the reliability of his information or his own credibility, according to the same inspector general’s report. In many cases, he acted more as an advocate than a fact-checker, while turning a blind eye to the dossier’s red flags, the report documented. For example, when a top Justice national security lawyer initially blocked the Crossfire team’s attempts to obtain a FISA warrant, Auten proactively turned to the dossier to try to push the case over the line. In a September 2016 email to FBI lawyers, he forwarded an unsubstantiated claim from the dossier that Page secretly met with Kremlin-tied official Igor Divyekin in July 2016 and asked, “Does this put us at least *that* much closer to a full FISA on [Carter Page]?” (Asterisks for emphasis in the original.) Senate investigators grilled Auten about his eager acceptance of the allegation, which Page had denied in secretly recorded conversations with an undercover FBI informant — exculpatory evidence that was withheld from the FISA court. Auten confessed he had no other information to independently verify the dossier’s charge, which was central to the FISA warrants. In a declassified internal FBI spreadsheet he compiled in January 2017 to try to corroborate the dossier, Auten cited a September 2016 Yahoo News article as possible corroboration of “Page’s alleged meeting with Divyekin” — even though the source of that article was Steele himself. “So you had no knowledge of a secret meeting between Divyekin and Page, but you thought this information ‘put us at least that much closer to a full FISA’ on Carter Page?” then-chief Senate Judiciary Committee investigative counsel Zach Somers asked Auten, incredulously. “Why does the mention of a meeting with Page and Divyekin move you ‘that much closer’ to a FISA application if you haven’t confirmed the information in the Steele dossier?” “There was something about Divyekin,” Auten said. “That’s all I can say.” In the secret informant recordings, which were made before the Crossfire team submitted its first FISA warrant application in October 2016, Page stated he never met with Divyekin or even knew who he was. “Were you aware of his statements denying knowing who Divyekin was?” Somers asked Auten. “I don’t recall exactly whether or not I knew those statements at the time or whether I learned about those statements subsequent to that time,” Auten replied. “Do you think you learned about them prior to the first Page FISA application?” Somers persisted. “I’m not sure if I learned them before the first Page application,” Auten answered. Former FBI Special Agent Michael Biasello, a 25-year veteran of the FBI who spent 10 years in counterintelligence working closely with intelligence analysts, said Auten should be “held accountable” for his role in what he described as FBI headquarters’ blatant disregard for the diligent process FISA warrants demand. “A FISA warrant must be fully corroborated. Every statement, phrase, paragraph, must be verified in order for the affiant to attest before a judge that the contents are true and correct,” he said. “I remember agents and analysts scouring warrants and affidavits obsessively to make certain the document was meticulous and accurate.” “To think the Crossfire team signed off on those FISA affidavits knowing the contents were uncorroborated is unconscionable, immoral and also illegal,” Biasello added. “All of them must be prosecuted for perjury, fraud and other federal crimes.” The SpreadsheetAuten oversaw the early 2017 creation of a 94-page FBI spreadsheet that analyzed the credibility of the Steele dossier, excerpt by excerpt. At first blush, the spreadsheet appears to corroborate some of the rumors. But upon closer inspection, the analysis relies heavily on media reports as the chief pieces of confirmation. The press citations, which number in the hundreds, are used in lieu of official corroboration. Listed under a section titled “Corroboration,” the spreadsheet repeatedly cites stories published in the Washington Post, the New York Times, and CNN, as well as more overtly anti-Trump outlets like the Huffington Post and Mother Jones. It twice used the same Yahoo News story to corroborate separate Steele allegations, despite the fact Steele was the main source for the article. (During the 2016 campaign, Steele had briefed Yahoo author Michael Isikoff on his opposition research for about an hour in a private room at the Tabard Inn in Washington.) Auten and his FBI analysts used a magazine article written by the sister of Democratic National Committee contractor Alexandra “Ali” Chalupa — a key promoter of the Trump collusion narrative during the 2016 election — as possible support for Steele’s lurid claim (later debunked) that Trump was compromised by a Russian sex tape. RealClearInvestigations has learned exclusively that the spreadsheet glosses over one of the most glaring factual errors in the dossier — that Moscow allegedly paid DNC hackers through a Russian consulate in Miami. For starters, there is no Russian consulate in Miami. But Auten and his analysts remained silent about the reference to a phantom Miami consulate. It was never addressed in the nearly 100-page spreadsheet. Highlighting that gaffe might have exposed the shoddiness of the entire case. In the end, Auten never confirmed anything from Steele’s rumor sheet the FBI cited as probable-cause evidence in its requests to obtain warrants. To the contrary, he “ultimately determined that some of the allegations contained in Steele’s election reporting were inaccurate,” the IG report revealed, although he kept those discoveries from the court. Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz singled out the lead analyst in his 2019 report for cutting a number of corners in the verification process and even allowing information he knew to be incorrect to slip into the FISA affidavits and mislead the court. For instance, Auten learned as early as January 2017 that Steele’s primary source, Igor Danchenko, lived in the United States, not Russia; yet Auten and the Crossfire team led the FISA court to believe he was “Russian-based” – and therefore presumably more credible. As RCI first reported, Danchenko was a hard-drinking gossip who had worked for the Brookings Institution, a Democratic Party think tank. It turns out the anti-Trump rumors he fed Steele — in exchange for cash — was dubious hearsay passed along over drinks with his high school buddies and an old girlfriend. “The FISA applications all say that he’s Russian-based,” Somers pressed Auten. “Do you think that should have been corrected with the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court?” Auten said he raised the issue with Clinesmith, the convicted FBI lawyer. “And what response did you get back?” Somers asked. “I did not get a response back,” Auten replied. And so the “Russian-based” deception lived on through the FISA renewals. The FBI continued to use the Steele rumor sheet as a basis for renewing its FISA monitoring of Page — and by extension, potentially the Trump campaign and presidency — through incidental collections of emails, text messages and intercepted phone calls. (FISAs let the FBI snoop not only on the target of the warrant, but also anyone communicating with the target and the target’s associates.) Perhaps most telling, Auten also withheld the fact Danchenko disavowed key allegations Steele put in the dossier. No Regrets, No RemorseNonetheless, Auten appeared unbothered by the myriad problems with the dossier. He told Horowitz that he did not have any “pains or heartburn” over the accuracy of the Steele reports. As for Steele’s reliability as an FBI informant, Horowitz said, the analyst merely “speculated” that his prior reporting was sound and did not see a need to “dig into” his handler’s case file, which showed that past tips from Steele had gone uncorroborated and were never used in court. In a September 2016 memo used in the FISA applications to describe Steele’s credibility as a source, Auten falsely claimed Steele’s prior material had been corroborated. According to the IG report, Auten also wasn’t concerned about Steele’s animus for Trump or that he was paid by Trump’s political opponent, calling the fact he was paid by the Clinton’s campaign “immaterial.” Under Senate grilling, Auten confirmed the fact-checking lapses highlighted by Horowitz, but remained unrepentant. He insisted, “It was justified to open these cases” — not only against Carter Page, but also Trump advisers Michael Flynn, Paul Manafort, and George Papadopoulos — even while revealing that he and his analysts discussed taking out “professional liability insurance” policies because they worried the irregular Crossfire investigation “would likely result in extra scrutiny.” FBI Director Christopher Wray has kept Auten in his job at the bureau, where he continues to work at headquarters as a supervisory intelligence analyst. The FBI provided him counsel at his private Senate hearing. Wray has assured Horowitz he’s conducting a review of all FBI personnel who had responsibility for the preparation of the invalid FISA warrant applications and would take any appropriate action to deal with them for misconduct. It’s not immediately known if Auten has undergone such an internal review. The FBI declined comment. 5 Biden scandals you might not know about
Posted: 31 Mar 2021 09:58 PM PDT President Donald Trump was impeached twice and acquitted twice. The ramifications of this are only now starting to ripple and flow. 2021 may be a bigger political year than 2020 with more public outrage than before unless, they are sufficiently distracted. Another pandemic might do that, perhaps Ebola. I hear its making a comeback. But, I digress. If there are no more pandemics, if there are no more mandates for lockdowns, if America does not go bankrupt or, go to war with China then, I think the country’s focus will be mostly on politics. As such, here are some predictions on what happens next.
A flurry of election fraud cases will reopen old wounds that have yet to really heal. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear election fraud cases which is encouraging to Conservatives because when Trump’s team were given the chance to argue their cases, they won more often than not. Plus according to a recent poll – 77% of Republicans believe there was widespread fraud in the presidential election and as much as 30% of Democrats were skeptical as well. If you combine doubts (said and unspoken) with voter remorse then, you have basic ingredients for major drama. But, wait, there’s more. During the 2020 Presidential race, the mainstream media protected candidate Biden from a number of scandals. Now that he is President, there is no longer a need to shield him further; objective achieved. Now, maybe, the public overall will see what’s been hidden from them by the mainstream media. A few examples… Hidin’ Biden: How Big Tech is Fixing The Presidential Election The NY Post published the political equivalent of a nuclear bomb this week. Based on emails from Hunter Biden’s laptop, they have found credible evidence of Joe Biden’s corruption when he served in the White House under President Obama. As amazing as this is to me, what is even more surprising is how this information has been banned from social media and censored in the mainstream media during this critical Presidential election season. What does that say about the state of our American democracy? Joe Biden Wanted in Ukraine on Class A Felony Bribery Charges However, a court in Ukraine has now released Joe Biden’s name as a suspect in criminal allegations and is wanted in the country on Class A felony charges, reports OAN. The court previously redacted Biden’s name but decided it was inappropriate to keep that information hidden. Report: Joe Biden’s Brother Under Federal Investigation for Role in Bankrupt Healthcare Firm Americore, which filed for bankruptcy in late-2019, was raided by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) earlier this year as part of an ongoing probe into its finances and business practices. At the time, FBI agents also raided the home of Americore’s CEO, Grant White. Even before raids, the company’s conduct had come under scrutiny after it was accused of fraud. In July 2019, Michael Frey and his business partner, Dr. Mohannad Azzam, filed a lawsuit in federal court claiming James Biden and Americore’s leadership had promised and failed to line up investors for their rural healthcare enterprise. The suit alleges, James Biden urged the two men to borrow $10 million from a hedge fund run by Lewitt, who was involved in the deal. “The lawsuit takes direct aim at Biden, painting him as a con artist who uses his ties to his brother … to lure his victims,” the Knoxville News Sentinel reported in August 2019. Joe Biden’s Sister Valerie Sent Millions of Joe’s Campaign Dollars to Her Own Consulting Firm However, the lines between her role as leading her brother’s political campaigns and working at the firm blurred, as the firm “received large fees from the Biden campaigns that Valerie was running,” Profiles in Corruption reveals: The firm received large fees from the Biden campaigns that Valerie was running. Two and a half million dollars in consulting fees flowed to her firm from Citizens for Biden and Biden For President Inc. during the 2008 presidential bid alone. Keep in mind that Joe Slade White & Company worked for Biden campaigns over eighteen years. The report demonstrates a pattern, as Schweizer’s book shows, of the complex, albeit largely unknown, dynamics of the Biden family and the financial benefits reaped, which purportedly stem from the presidential hopeful’s varying positions in government throughout his life. Joe Biden Launched Son-in-Law’s Firm from Oval Office, Briefed Investors Former Vice President Joe Biden went to great lengths to boost his son-in-law’s health care company while in the White House, briefing investors on the firm’s merits and even arranging access to the Oval Office. The bombshell revelations are detailed in Profiles in Corruption: Abuse of Power by America’s Progressive Elite — a new book by Peter Schweizer, a senior contributor at Breitbart News and the president of the Government Accountability Institute. So, how do you think the public will react once they discover some of this stuff? (For that matter, how are you feeling? Was any of that news to you?) I predict that they will not be happy and feel swindled. I have proof of that. The Federalist reported “One In Six Biden Voters Would Have Changed Their Vote If They Had Known About Scandals Suppressed By Media.” Wow. Here’s a quote… A new report from the Media Research Center shows that the media’s lack of coverage and big tech’s suppression of certain issues and scandals surrounding Democratic Presidential Nominee Joe Biden could have cost President Donald Trump the election. The survey results report that 17 percent of Biden voters would not have voted for the Biden-Harris presidential ticket if they had known about at least one of the eight news stories that were suppressed by big tech and mainstream media outlets. “This is not happenstance. This is not coincidence. This is not oversight and this is not just a mistake,” president and founder of Media Research Center Brent Bozell said at a press conference Tuesday. “These were deliberate decisions that were made thousands of times, literally thousands of times, to either twist or to not cover it at all, which we found in this case.” Election fraud cases being heard by SCOTUS and political scandals coming to light is enough to trigger the country into justifiable outrage but, there is still more kindling to put atop of that political fire.
And the unkindest cut of all, at least to the left, is seeing this unfettered support for President Trump from his supporters, still. Get out the popcorn people. We are witnessing the best reality series ever created. I hope we survive it.

Pastor Sam Jones describes 5 steps to kill a nation… and how we stop it from happening
Posted: 31 Mar 2021 09:40 PM PDT One does not have to be a conspiracy theorist to realize how bad things have gotten in the United States over the last year or so. Beyond the obvious political challenges conservatives and Christians have faced as a result of blatant voter fraud, we’ve also had the Covid-19 hysteria limiting our rights and decimating our national psyche. Throw in the Cultural Marxists, Neo-Marxists, and just plain Marxists in this nation establishing footholds in society and it becomes clear the future of this country hasn’t been as precariously positioned since the Civil War.
Despite the many challenges we face, there are those who still hold onto hope. One such hopeful soul is Pastor Sam Jones from Faith Baptist Church in Hudson, Iowa. His latest book, Five Steps to Kill a Nation, gives us insight into the machinations and goals of our enemies, both at home and abroad. We’re being bombarded as a nation through culture, suppression, and outright murder. And all the while, the powers that be in government and media continue to push the narrative that things are going to be okay if we just sit back and give them our brains to control. As a pastor, Jones is among the growing number who are getting more directly involved with things that have normally been associated with secular life. He participates in the political arena in Iowa and encourages his fellow worshipers to get involved. And he has Biblical backing for it, as he details in the latest episode of NOQ Report. In 5 Steps To Kill A Nation And How To Stop The Bleeding, Jones takes a look at what steps have been taken to destroy our nation from within. We’ve seen a steady decline in the United States of America, and Pastor Sam breaks down the actual reasons for this occurring. Comparing everything with God’s Word, this book will help you to understand what is actually going on around us that is contributing to the decay of our great nation. Our problems aren’t just coming from our foes themselves. It is becoming harder and harder to communicate our perspectives as Big Tech censors us, stifling discourse and pushing forth the leftist narratives as if they’re factual. They realize that on an even playing field of fact vs fiction, idea versus idea, the truth we push forth will shine through. Therefore, they’re denying us the even playing field we want. We must push forward with the knowledge that the odds are stacked against us. But we have the ultimate equalizer in any situation on our side, and His will cannot be denied.

Govt. stats: mRNA vaccines already killed more people in 3 months than a decade of inoculations – more than 1750 Americans dead
Posted: 31 Mar 2021 09:17 PM PDT Per the CDC and the VAERS database, double the number of humans in the USA have literally died from the Covid-19 mRNA series vaccines than all deaths for ten years from all other vaccines combined. Let that simmer in your brain for a moment. The vaccine has only been readily available for 3 months, yet already more than half of the number of people who died in the World Trade Center buildings on 9/11 have already been mass murdered by a vaccine that’s supposed to prevent infection, or at least lessen the blow if you catch it. So much for that. This is 2021 and this is modern medicine? Article by S.D. Wells from Natural News. So a fairly common side effect of getting the Covid-19 vaccine is death by vaccine. Brilliant. Most of these deaths are attributed to the dirty vaccines manufactured and concocted by Moderna and Pfizer/Biontech, based off the CDC reportThe death rate is now over 70 percent of the average rate of death from vaccines up until the beginning of the year 2021. This is astonishing. Mind-blowing. Unreal. Had this been some natural remedy like zinc and vitamin D combined, the media would be in a frenzy and ALL products containing them would be instantly recalled, banned and investigated for lawsuits and settlements. Today we find all kinds of highly toxic ingredients in vaccines that have absolutely NO BUSINESS being in them. Here’s just a short list compiled from ten years of investigative journalism on this topic:
It’s no wonder people die from the vaccines. Many just get maimed, like children with autism and people who get paralyzed. The stories will never make it to mass media, as Pharma controls mainstream news media, all advertising and reporting of medical information. You have to do your own research, and that includes parents who want the best for their babies and children who are still growing up and developing the way Nature intended. Realize that it usually takes YEARS of analyzing side effects to determine whether a vaccine is safe for childrenMost vaccines are tested for about 20 years for safety, before they are used for pregnant women, babies, children and teens. These new mRNA Covid vaccines just came out of the laboratories this past summer and fall. There has been little to zero clinical trials taking place, just some unverified claims about 95 percent accuracy and mild side effects. Well, if dying is a mild side effect, then what are major ones? Do you go blind and deaf, like the folks in the UK are right now from the Covid-19 vaccine? The biggest question of all then must be addressed: Why are we mass-vaccinating children when they hardly ever even catch Covid, beat it back easily when they do, are mostly asymptomatic and don’t spread it anyway? How many children will die from the vaccine that would have never even come close to dying from Covid-19? Think about that. That would be like saying people should get the Chicken Pox vaccine, and take a high risk of dying from the vaccine, when Chicken Pox is hardly ever serious, and parents used to take their kids to other homes where the kids were infected just to have their kids catch it and build antibodies for life. That was called herd immunity, remember folks? Now the CDC has NOTHING to say. Nothing. Where are you at now, we ask, Center for Disease Creation? Tune your internet frequency to Vaccines.news for updates on how Allopathic America is all about the money and wrecking people’s immune systems, not building them up. Forget leftist lies: Fascism is a far-left ideology on the authoritarian side of the political spectrum
Posted: 31 Mar 2021 09:05 PM PDT One of the authoritarian left’s biggest lies – and they have some whoppers – is that since fascism and socialism are in ‘competition’ for power, they are somehow, someway on different sides of the political spectrum. Factual reality and logic destroy this infamous historical canard with two main issues. First, there is the fact that competing groups can easily have the same ideology. Then there is the plain fact that fascists and socialists operate in the same manner to the point that there is a myriad of similarities between the two that cannot be ignored, even to the most steadfast leftist ideologue. The leftist big lie that fascism is supposedly ‘right-wing’ originated in the Soviet Union. The online etymology dictionary entry for the term Nazi plainly states that this term was actually a pejorative and they avoided the term: 1930, noun and adjective, from German Nazi, abbreviation of German pronunciation of Nationalsozialist (based on earlier German sozi, popular abbreviation of “socialist”), from Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei “National Socialist German Workers’ Party,” led by Hitler from 1920. The 24th edition of Etymologisches Wörterbuch der deutschen Sprache (2002) says the word Nazi was favored in southern Germany (supposedly from c. 1924) among opponents of National Socialism because the nickname Nazi, Naczi (from the masc. proper name Ignatz, German form of Ignatius) was used colloquially to mean “a foolish person, clumsy or awkward person.” Ignatz was a popular name in Catholic Austria, and according to one source in World War I Nazi was a generic name in the German Empire for the soldiers of Austria-Hungary. An older use of Nazi for national-sozial is attested in German from 1903, but EWdS does not think it contributed to the word as applied to Hitler and his followers. The NSDAP for a time attempted to adopt the Nazi designation as what the Germans call a “despite-word,” but they gave this up, and the NSDAP is said to have generally avoided the term. Before 1930, party members had been called in English National Socialists, which dates from 1923. The use of Nazi Germany, Nazi regime, etc., was popularized by German exiles abroad. From them, it spread into other languages, and eventually was brought back to Germany, after the war. [Emphasis added] It is important to note that in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) they avoided the use of the term national socialist to keep the abject failure of Nazi Germany from the word socialist, referring to them as fascists: In the USSR, the terms national socialist and Nazi were said to have been forbidden after 1932, presumably to avoid any taint to the good word socialist. Soviet literature refers to fascists. [Emphasis added] Clearly, modern-day authoritarian leftists have carried on the tradition to the point of hurling the ridiculous and irrelevant ‘North Korea’ talking point if one dares mention that the Nazis were a socialist workers’ party. It also brings us to the discussion at hand in the evisceration of one of the left’s biggest lies. Fascism is a far-left ideology on the authoritarian side of the political spectrumThis leftist lie suddenly became prominent once again with the issue of ‘Vaccine Passports’ in the news and the inevitable pile-on with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene citing serious privacy impositions with the scheme. We couldn’t help but note that the national socialist media fixated on the term “corporate communism.” Instead of fascism. No doubt they did this to couch the issue in the worst light possible, but it’s equally possible they wanted to avoid touching on the ‘F’ word since it’s becoming more and more evident that it’s the left that is fascist. As noted in the Library of Economics and Liberty: As an economic system, fascism is socialism with a capitalist veneer. Where socialism sought totalitarian control of a society’s economic processes through direct state operation of the means of production, fascism sought that control indirectly, through domination of nominally private owners. Where socialism nationalized property explicitly, fascism did so implicitly, by requiring owners to use their property in the “national interest”—that is, as the autocratic authority conceived it. (Nevertheless, a few industries were operated by the state.) Where socialism abolished all market relations outright, fascism left the appearance of market relations while planning all economic activities. In the case of the hideous vaccine passports as well as the suppression of freedom that has been taking place the past few months. The driving force behind all of it has been ‘private industry’ at the behest of authoritarian socialists in the governmental elite, In other words, fascism. The Radical Socialist Roots of FascismThe most important point in destroying the ‘right-wing’ fascism lies from the authoritarian anti-liberty left follows from an examination of the roots of fascism, such as the careful analysis by Emmanuel Rincón in which he details how Fascism is a form of socialism. As such, it does not engage in a fight between left and right, but between different leftists ideologies. He delves into the heart of the matter with the question: Who is the ideological father of fascism? Practically everyone knows that Karl Marx is the ideological father of communism and socialism or that Adam Smith is the father of capitalism and economic liberalism. Do you know, in contrast, who the mind behind fascism is? It’s very likely that you don’t, and I can tell you in advance that the philosopher behind fascism was also an avowed socialist. Giovanni Gentile, a neo-Hegelian philosopher, was the intellectual author of the “doctrine of fascism,” which he wrote in conjunction with Benito Mussolini. Gentile’s sources of inspiration were thinkers such as Hegel, Nietzsche, and also Karl Marx. Gentile went so far as to declare “Fascism is a form of socialism, in fact, it is its most viable form.” One of the most common reflections on this is that fascism is itself socialism based on national identity. Gentile believed that all private action should be oriented to serve society, he was against individualism, for him there was no distinction between private and public interest. In his economic postulates, he defended compulsory state corporatism, wanting to impose an autarkic state, basically the same recipe that Hitler would use years later. A basic aspect of Gentile’s logic is that liberal democracy was harmful because it was focused on the individual which led to selfishness, he defended “true democracy” in which the individual should be subordinated to the State, in that sense, he promoted planned economies in which it was the government that indicated what, how much, and how to produce. [Emphasis added] This emphasis on private action oriented to serve society against individualism was exemplified by the motto emblazoned on the Nationalsozialistische deutsche Arbeiter-Partei program and coinage as Gemeinnutz vor Eigennutz that translates to COMMON GOOD BEFORE INDIVIDUAL GOOD. Prominent luminaries of the authoritarian socialist left have often tried to sell their societal slavery snake oil with the following word ‘logic’. They compare those who emphasize those who favor individual liberty and civil rights as ‘individualists’, with those who favor societal or social concerns as ‘socialists’. Selling their collectivist dead end with that kind of wording and logic. No doubt with the implication that ‘social media’ is somehow connected in a positive connotation. As stated, business owners were able to ‘keep’ their property, but they had to accede to the dictates of the government. Dangerous ‘public-private partnerships’ that we are seeing take shape in the states. It’s not the government suppressing the first amendment, but private corporations. It doesn’t really matter the means, the ending of our liberty and civil rights is the same end result. The conflict between fascism and socialism is merely a fight between different leftists ideologies.Further on he details how the variations between the leftist ideologies have imparted themselves to promulgating one of the left’s biggest lies: Fascism claimed to oppose liberal capitalism, but also international socialism, hence the concept of “third way”, the same position that would be held by Argentine Peronism years later. This opposition to international socialism and communism is precisely what has caused so much confusion in the ideological location of fascism, Nazism and also Peronism. Having opposed the traditional internationalist Marxist left, these were attributed to the current of ultra-right movements, when the truth is that, as has been demonstrated, their centralized economic policies obeyed collectivist and socialist principles, openly opposing capitalism and the free market, favoring nationalism and autarchy. In that sense, as established by the philosopher creator of fascist ideology, Giovanni Gentile, fascism is another form of socialism, ergo, it was not a battle of left against right, but a struggle between different lefts, an internationalist and a nationalist one. [Emphasis added] In certain basic respects – a totalitarian state structure, a single party, a leader, a secret police, a hatred of political, cultural and intellectual freedom – fascism and communism are clearly more like each other than they are like anything in between. The bottom line – fascism and socialism are authoritarian leftism through and through. We cite that quote to make the point that not too long ago many understood that fascism and socialism are the same fruit of the tree of tyranny, with only slight variations in external features. In many ways, national socialist Germany and fascist Italy were the first major failures in the wondrous ‘new’ ideologies of collectivism. There were extenuating circumstances to be sure, but they were indeed failures. Failures that needed to be covered up by the collectivist left. What better way than to hide a leftist failure than blame it on the right? A tradition of deception that continues to the present. It’s always a sure bet that a socialist regime has bitten the dust when the left suddenly decides that was really a ‘right-wing’ regime somehow. Unfortunately for the authoritarian left, the facts really get in the way of those kinds of games, even when your media allies are perfectly willing to parrot your lies infinitum. Eventually, the truth comes out and people see through the lies and the false ‘fact checks’. No to mention the fact that the authoritarian left is acting the Nazi more and more these days. Their only solution is to double down, but that only makes it even more obvious. On electoral redistricting panels, HR 1 would require racial, gender discrimination
Posted: 31 Mar 2021 09:00 PM PDT HR 1, the so-called For the People Act, is a dangerous and radical bill. Article by Hans von Spakovsky from Daily Signal. It threatens the security, fairness, and integrity of our elections and restricts the First Amendment rights of Americans to freely engage in political speech and activity. It would force state legislatures to hand over the redistricting process to unaccountable bureaucrats and institutionalizes racial and gender quotas. It would also implement what amounts to a test to participate in redistricting that violates the associational and religious rights of the public. People often complain about gerrymandering by state legislatures when they draw the political lines after every decennial census. But legislators at least are accountable to voters, who can vote them out of office if the voters are not satisfied with the job the legislators do. That’s certainly not true with the appointed members of government commissions. Yet that is exactly what HR 1 creates. It would abrogate the authority of state legislators to draw the boundary lines of congressional districts and transfer it to so-called independent redistricting commissions, which in states such as Arizona and California have not proven to be very “independent.” The very detailed requirements for eligibility to serve on these commissions, hidden deep inside the 800-page bill, are shocking and offensive. Are you an American who has recently changed his or her mind on which political party best supports your values, views, and principles? If you’ve done so within the past three years, you can’t serve on a commission because you are only eligible if you’ve “been continuously registered to vote with the same political party” for the three years prior to your appointment. If you want to be considered for appointment, you have to disclose your “household income for the most recent taxable year.” Apparently, your income is somehow important to whether you are qualified to determine the political boundaries of congressional districts. But it gets worse. You can’t even be considered for the commission unless you disclose your “involvement with, or financial support of, professional, social, political, religious, or community organizations or causes.” In other words, not only do you have disclose which church, mosque, or synagogue you attend, but also your support for nonprofit organizations, such as the NAACP or the NRA, NARAL or Citizens for Life. That’s exactly the kind of information the U.S. Supreme Court told Alabama in 1958 that it could not require be publicly disclosed because it violated the constitutional rights of citizens to associate for the advancement of their beliefs and ideas. In today’s “woke” cancel culture, forcing such disclosure would likely subject anyone who wants to be in the “selection pool” to harassment and intimidation—exactly what the NAACP feared would happen when it went to court in 1958. Furthermore, religious tests are strictly outlawed by Article VI of the U.S. Constitution for federal offices, and the Supreme Court extended that prohibition to all state offices in 1961 in Torcaso v. Watkins through the First Amendment. Forcing individuals to disclose their religious affiliation potentially puts them in the position of not being chosen due to their religious beliefs, which is essentially a prohibited religious test. What possible explanation is there for the sponsors of HR 1 to put this into their bill other than to allow that to happen? But HR 1 is even more insidious. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 bans discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. So why does HR 1 require anyone who wants to be in the “selection pool” to disclose their “race, ethnicity, [and] gender”? It’s because HR 1 sets up what amount to discriminatory quotas for membership, that’s why. HR 1 requires that membership on the redistricting commission be “representative of the demographic groups [including racial, ethnic, economic, and gender] … of the State.” In other words, the membership of the commission has to match the racial, ethnic, and gender proportions of the state’s population. In short, that’s a racial- and gender-quota system. Whether a state follows this diktat would be reported to Congress. HR 1 requires the comptroller general of the United States to “submit to Congress a report on the extent to which the membership of independent redistricting commissions … meet the diversity requirements” of this statute. There are many other objectionable requirements in this part of HR 1 on redistricting commissions. To be a considered for appointment, you also have to disclose your “employment and educational history.” That history is not relevant to whether you are entitled to vote, and we would all be highly offended and incensed if Congress said there should be “employment and educational” requirements before you are allowed to vote. So, where is the outrage over your job and education history being a consideration with respect to whether you, as a citizen, are allowed to be selected to draw the lines of the congressional districts you are qualified to vote in or run in as a candidate? Moreover, this provision discriminates against spouses and family members of those who are active in politics. You cannot be on a commission if your spouse or other “immediate” family member holds public office—even if that office has nothing whatsoever to do with Congress or congressional districts. In other words, if your wife is on the local town council, you cannot serve on a commission that draws the boundaries of congressional districts. If you contributed more than $1,000 in total to any political candidates for any “public office or to any political action committee” in the 10 years prior to appointment, you are also banned from serving on a commission. Again, that means that if you made a donation to someone running for dog catcher, the local school board, or your town council, and that total combined was more than $1,000, you can’t draw the lines for congressional districts. In other words, they don’t want anyone who has actually participated in our democratic political process or is even related to anyone who participates in our political process. Who should be outraged by HR 1 and this redistricting scheme? Answer: every American, and especially every “father, stepfather, mother, stepmother, son, stepson, daughter, stepdaughter, brother, stepbrother, sister, stepsister, husband, wife, father-in-law, or mother-in-law” excluded from the redistricting process because of their family’s political involvement or their race, ethnicity, gender, income, employment, and education. In other words, everyone. Identity politics and Critical Race Theory have no place in US military
Posted: 31 Mar 2021 09:00 PM PDT Sen. Tom Cotton, rightly angered that the Department of Defense is moving to indoctrinate U.S. military personnel in divisive critical race theory, has introduced a bill that would forbid it. Article by Dakota Wood from Daily Signal. Like colleagues in the House who sent letters to Adm. Mike Gilday, the chief of naval operations, expressing severe disapproval of the Navy’s decision to include books on critical race theory and other aspects of identity politics on professional reading lists, Cotton, R-Ark., and a former soldier, demonstrated he understands the corrosive effect that such teachings would have on the U.S military. In 1968, civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. expressed his dream that one day people “will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” It is a powerful message consistently referenced by everyone who seeks true equality in diverse populations. King, like so many before and since who have championed a unified people within our great American experiment, worked to replace identity by race, ethnic group, economic status, gender, or religion with a shared humanity that prizes mutual recognition and respect, regardless of the various characteristics that tend to segregate people by type. In many ways, America’s military strives to manifest King’s dream of a world that values people by their character, shared identity, and commitment to a common, noble purpose. The beauty of military service is that the uniform and common objective supplants grouping by individual identities of color, class, gender, or religion. I best know the U.S. Marine Corps, because I served in it for 20 years, but all of the services have a similar approach to forming a team—rather than sowing division by focusing on those things that separate individuals from each other. What united everyone with whom I served was the singular identity of being a U.S. Marine committed to defending our country, a country comprising every sort of person from countless different backgrounds. It didn’t matter where you came from. All that really mattered among Marines was whether you were competent in your job, committed to the mission, and were someone your fellow Marines could depend on. Military service truly is the best example of America as the proverbial great melting pot. This isn’t to say that the military is perfect. Like any other human endeavor, it is composed of people who bring their biases and prejudices with them. But the military knows this; hence, its constant emphasis on small-unit leadership, reinforcement of values, teamwork, and personal accountability. The Uniform Code of Military Justice, which governs the legal aspects of military discipline, amply addresses unacceptable conduct, including abuse and disrespect of others. Every service chief, commanding officer, senior enlisted leader, professional military school, and unit training curriculum reemphasizes core values that characterize military service. It is always a work in progress, just as much as is our country and each of us individually. Critical race theory would, however, move the military in the wrong direction by undoing decades, even centuries, of work to foster a team-centered culture. By relentlessly harping on and reinforcing specific identities—advocating for some, while disparaging others, and requiring certain levels of representation in jobs, ranks, and occupational fields as defined by those identities—what advocates of identity politics actually do is undermine the very thing they supposedly want to advance; namely, equality across peoples. Racial and gender-based criteria for promotion or assignment to a position, as examples, cause people to wonder whether the person was selected on merit or merely got the job because he or she had a particular identity. If the latter, then their credibility and the level of respect they should legitimately enjoy are undermined and damaged. They aren’t seen as having earned the position because of performance, competence, or leadership qualities. People will still salute and carry out orders—but because they are obliged to, not because the person is perceived as rating such on their own merit. By emphasizing and sustaining stereotypes, advocates of racial and gender identity more deeply root prejudices, accelerating and amplifying them, rather than neutralizing and eliminating them. Military discipline, expected conduct, and respect between and within ranks undergird a system in which military forces get the job done because those in uniform are reminded from the first day they put on their uniform that a soldier, Marine, sailor, airman, or Space Force guardian is just that—a fellow service member who has gone through the same training, had to meet the same standards, serves the same Constitution and country, and respects the same flag and national identity. In short, military service already is the great equalizer. Programs that emphasize differences among service members, that impose a demand for people to feel guilty about their identity and background, that elevate one group over another, or that seek to subordinate a group relative to another generate resentment, or a sense of aggrieved victimization, or entitlement to special handling. Such initiatives destroy the fabric of military service that otherwise unites an extraordinarily diverse population in common purpose and identity. Identity politics is a cancer that corrodes good order and discipline and the necessary authorities inherent in a chain of command. When we view people through the lens of race, gender, or religion, we embrace the polar opposite of everything the U.S. military strives for, being a colorblind, race-blind, gender-blind team that takes the contributions of everyone willing to serve their country and folds them into success. Thinking less about teams and more about individuals is a recipe for failure for any military, yet this is exactly what critical race theory and other forms of identity politics attempt to do. Cotton and Republican Reps. Jim Banks of Indiana, Doug Lamborn of Colorado, and Vicky Hartzler of Missouri are all on the mark in questioning why the most senior leaders in our military would act to damage the very foundation upon which our military forges an incredible team of like-minded people dedicated to a common cause, regardless of personal backgrounds and characteristics. Our military leadership must focus on the core purpose of our military—organizing, equipping, and training a force willing and able to defend the nation from external threats—rather than mire itself in the self-defeating claptrap of identity politics. Border security expert Nelson Balido: The border situation is out of control
Posted: 31 Mar 2021 08:24 PM PDT Today, The Two Mikes were again fortunate to host the president of the Border Commerce and Security Council, Nelson Balido. Mr. Balido recently visited the American side of the U.S.-Mexico border, and has just returned from touring the Mexican side.
He describes the border situation as being out of control, but only because of the actions of the Biden administration. The picture he painted in our interview was one of a disaster of the Democrats’ own making, and one which can be ended in 24 hours if Trump’s border regulations are immediately reinstalled. There is no secret path to fixing the problem, only the obvious and commonsense one of restoring the secure border position Biden inherited. Mr. Balido also explained that the influx of illegal aliens should be seen as a direct threat to Americans who are in the lower and lower-middle class as there are large numbers of skilled workers and craftsmen—plumbers, mechanics, electricians, carpenters, machinists, etc.—among those entering the United States. He said that these people will be willing to work for less money than the U.S. citizens who are now engaged in the skilled trades, and so will displace some of them. He noted that it was odd that union bosses support Biden’s policies even when they hurt union members.

48.) NBC MORNING RUNDOWN
Thursday, April 1, 2021
Good morning, NBC News readers.
There is positive vaccine news on the Covid-19 variant front, more emotional testimony from the Derek Chauvin trial and it’s possibly the best day of the year for baseball fans.
Here’s what we’re watching this Thursday morning.
Pfizer and BioNtech said Thursday that trials suggest their vaccine is effective against a coronavirus variant that first emerged in South Africa, which some experts worry might evade existing shots.
The drugmakers also said in a statement that 12,000 people involved in their Phase 3 trial experienced high levels of protection against Covid-19 six months after their second dose, with no serious safety concerns.
The data “provide the first clinical results that a vaccine can effectively protect against currently circulating variants, a critical factor to reach herd immunity and end this pandemic for the global population,” said BioNTech CEO Ugur Sahin.
This comes a day after the companies said their vaccine is safe and effective in teenagers between the ages of 12 and 15.
They plan to request emergency use authorization for those ages in the coming weeks.

One fun thing Today is a big day for baseball lovers: Major League Baseball is welcoming fans back to the stands for the first time since 2019 with a full 162-game season.
The Covid pandemic truncated last year’s season to just 60 games and kept fans out of the parks. But now, every stadium will open and fans will be allowed in varying degrees as teams adhere to coronavirus protocols.
“Hearing the crack of the bat, the sounds and the smells of baseball, it’s always been a big part of recovery,” President and CEO of the Arizona Diamondbacks Derrick Hall told NBC News. “We need this. It’s a great way to turn the page and get back to normalcy.”

62.) 1440 DAILY DIGEST
No images? Click here Good morning, it’s Monday, April 1. In overnight news, at least four people were killed, including a child, in an office shooting in Southern California. The story is still developing. Have feedback? Let us know how we’re doing at hello@join1440.com. First time reading? Sign up here. NEED TO KNOWVaccines Safe for AdolescentsA COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer/BioNTech is safe and 100% effective in children aged 12 to 15, the companies announced yesterday. In the trial that included 2,260 participants, zero infections were reported in the vaccinated group compared to 18 cases in the placebo group. The cohort will be studied for long-term safety and effectiveness for two years while the companies seek emergency use authorization in the coming weeks. The news increases the likeliness that middle and high school students may fully return to school this fall. Experts also say vaccination of children and young adults, who make up 20% of the US population, is key to broader herd immunity. Testing in younger children under 12 is currently underway. Separately, Pfizer plans to soon begin testing a freeze-dried version of its vaccine, which could simplify logistics in rural areas. In less positive news, Johnson & Johnson will suspend part of its future shipments after human error in a Baltimore processing facility reportedly ruined 15 million doses of the single-shot vaccine. Current and near-term shipments, made in the Netherlands, aren’t affected. Meanwhile, the country has reported 552,072 total deaths, with the daily average up slightly but remaining below 1,000 per day. More than 97 million Americans have received at least one vaccination dose (38% of the adult population). See how your state is doing here. Opening Day The 2021 Major League Baseball season gets underway today, returning to near normalcy after a pandemic-shortened 2020 season. All 30 teams will take the field and fans will be in attendance at various capacities (see a visual breakdown), with the Texas Rangers as the only team operating at 100% attendance. A number of marquee matchups occupy the opening day slate. At the top of the list, the Washington Nationals host the New York Mets (7 pm ET, ESPN); pitchers Max Scherzer (Nationals) and Jacob deGrom (Mets) have five Cy Young Awards between them. To the west, the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers and pitcher Clayton Kershaw head to Colorado to face the Rockies (4 pm ET, ESPN). See the full schedule here. The Dodgers open the season as the Vegas favorites to repeat (7-2 odds), followed by the New York Yankees (11-2), Chicago White Sox (9-1), and the San Diego Padres (9-1). See the season’s key storylines here. Biden Pitches InfrastructureThe Biden administration released details of a sweeping $2.3T infrastructure and jobs plan, unveiled as the president gave remarks at a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, training center. The proposal would spend funds over eight years while projecting to recoup the cost over 15 years via tax hikes on corporations (see full plan). The package includes $621B for transportation infrastructure, $300B to bolster domestic manufacturing, and $100B apiece for schools, broadband access, and upgrading the nation’s electric grid. See a rundown of provisions here. Tax increases would include raising the corporate tax from 21% to 28%, along with eliminating a slew of other corporate deductions; contrary to earlier reports, changes to the top income tax bracket were not included. Impending legislation faces significant challenges in Congress. Republicans have criticized the tax hikes, along with provisions they view as not central to infrastructure investments. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is reportedly eyeing a second budget reconciliation maneuver to circumvent the 60-vote Senate threshold. 56% of Americans say they can’t name an objective news source. Clubhouse’s desire for exclusivity is harming the Deaf community
Clubhouse, the hottest app on the market with an invite-only user base, is coming under fire for excluding accessibility features for users in the Deaf community.
The design of Clubhouse prohibits transcriptions of chatrooms so content does not leave the app. Without transcriptions, deaf or hard of hearing people are left out of the platform.
Advocates for the Deaf community are tired of accessibility being an afterthought, saying a new platform can’t ignore the 48 million Americans who have some form of hearing loss.
Journalist and accessibility activist Liam O’Dell, who is Deaf, says considerations for the Deaf community should be discussed prior to a new app or feature launch.
“It’s quite frankly disgusting and appalling that [Clubhouse] hasn’t addressed this one year on,” O’Dell told the Daily Dot. “I find it hard to believe that the two founders are not aware of the feedback from the disability community and allies around accessibility.”
One Twitter user says he was kicked off of the app for transcribing a room for accessibility reasons.
Meanwhile, Clubhouse promotes “inclusivity” in its guidelines. “Be inclusive. Tolerate, welcome, and consider diverse people and perspectives,” the company states.

Tips for shopping in a COVID-19 world
Shopping for groceries or picking up a sandwich at your favorite local deli in a post-COVID world is no longer just a simple outing. The pandemic is still raging, despite the lax attitude some states have towards the virus. That doesn’t mean that you should follow suit with this cavalier pattern. If anything, you should become even more alert to potential risks. This includes masking up, of course, but here are a few other things for COVID-19 shoppers to consider when out and about.
FROM OUR FRIENDS AT NAUTILUS
Kroger keeps permanently closing its grocery stores so it doesn’t have to pay its frontline workers higher wages
To support their employees during the COVID-19 pandemic, companies including Kroger, Target, Walmart, Amazon, Rite Aid, and Albertsons instituted a hazard pay policy, and some have given their employees paid time off to get the COVID vaccine.
Kroger recently replaced its policies with a $400 bonus, according to the Washington Post. But some cities have begun passing their own hazard pay ordinances, and Kroger disapproves.
The Guardian reports that Kroger, which owns a variety of supermarket chains and warehouse stores, has been conveniently closing stores in cities that have passed hazard pay ordinances.
In January, Kroger closed two grocery stores in Long Beach, California, after the California Grocers Association failed to stop the $4-per-hour hazard pay ordinance.
In February, Kroger closed grocery stores in Seattle and Los Angeles after the city passed similar ordinances, the Washington Post reported.
Kroger claims that it isn’t sustainable to continue to operate in these cities because of increased costs during the pandemic. But Kroger reported an operating profit of $2.8 billion in 2020, increasing from $2.25 billion in 2019.

SELF-CARE
Keep it simple—and mostly free
After a year of writing my own thoughts about self-care in this newsletter, I’m branching out—but not too far. I’m asking my Daily Dot co-workers about how they integrate self-care rituals and a treat-yourself mentality into their days.
This week, I asked culture editor Tiffany Kelly about her version of self-care. Tiffany is candid about living with an anxiety disorder, and she says quiet (and low-cost!) rituals like lighting incense and taking baths help stabilize her body and mind. Having her dogs Betsy and Waldo by her side makes everything better, too. The interview below has been condensed and edited.
Do you set aside specific time and activities for-self care?
In an ideal world, I’d start the day with some breathing exercises or light yoga. Most of the time, I start my day opening the Twitter app on my phone, which I know is a problem!
I do try to exercise in the early evening after work, though. It helps reset my brain from consuming cursed content on the internet all day.
I know you like watching movies. What are some films you return to again and again? What are you looking forward to watching next?
Pride & Prejudice (2005) always puts me immediately at ease. Broadcast News is always great no matter how many times I watch it. And as most of my co-workers know, I’m obsessed with Phantom Thread.
My favorite film of the last year is Minari, and I look forward to finally watching Zola—which comes out this summer.
Any other thoughts?
The phrase “self-care” has become commercialized, but you don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars on products to practice it. All you need is a quiet space where no one can bother you for 10 to 20 minutes and maybe a favorite scent, like lavender or sage leaves. Self-care is about tuning out distractions and focusing on your mood.
