13.) AXIOS
Axios AM
🛷 Happy snowy Thursday! Today’s Smart Brevity™ count: 1,056 words … 4 minutes.
🇫🇷 Breaking: French President Macron tested COVID-positive and will isolate for seven days. He took a PCR test at the first symptoms, Élysée Palace announced. (Go deeper.)
States that voted for President Trump tend to have high coronavirus caseloads compared to how much COVID content they read online. The opposite is true of states that voted for President-elect Biden, Neal Rothschild writes from exclusive data from the social-media platform SocialFlow.
- Why it matters: This trend highlights a widespread rejection of coronavirus news and information in states that supported Trump, even in areas where the virus has gotten particularly deadly.
Mike’s thought bubble: I know from my constant conversations with friends, relatives and sources around the country that striking ideological gaps remain in perceptions about the virus.
- Now we know it wasn’t just about the election — it’s still very real.
- This data slice is one vivid way to quantify it.
While Biden voters are more likely to heed public health guidance and trust information from mainstream media sources, Trump voters are more inclined to tune them out.
- “It’s clear that stories about COVID simply don’t animate red-state residents the same way they do those in blue states,” SocialFlow CEO Jim Anderson tells Axios.
By the numbers: Blue states account for the 15 biggest differences among states that read more coronavirus content relative to their caseloads.
- Red states account for 11 of the 12 biggest differences among states that have bigger caseloads compared to the amount of coronavirus content they read.

Tom Bossert — former homeland security adviser to President Trump, and deputy homeland security adviser to President George W. Bush — writes in a N.Y. Times op-ed that the magnitude of the “ongoing” cyberattack on U.S. agencies is “hard to overstate”:
- “[T]he hackers will have long ago moved past their entry point, covered their tracks and gained what experts call ‘persistent access,’ meaning the ability to infiltrate and control networks in a way that is hard to detect or remove.”
- “President-elect Joe Biden … has to assume that communications about this matter are being read by Russia, and assume that any government data or email could be falsified.”
“An intrusion so brazen and of this size and scope cannot be tolerated by any sovereign nation,” Bossert continues.
- “We are sick, distracted, and now under cyberattack.”

Democratic senators are threatening to obstruct President-elect Biden’s nominees if he’s not aggressive enough on climate change, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island told Axios’ Amy Harder.
- Why it matters: Whitehouse is a leader on climate change in his party, but he has also shown to be a bipartisan dealmaker when he wants to be. What he says suggests broader support among other Democrats.
Whitehouse said: “[T]here are quite a considerable number of senators who keenly believe that we missed huge opportunities in the Obama administration, … and we just won’t tolerate a casual, insipid approach.”
New coronavirus cases are no longer skyrocketing, but are holding steady at record or near-record highs, Sam Baker and Andrew Witherspoon report.
- The U.S. averaged 209,000 new cases per day over the past week — up a hair (1.8%) from the week before.
The nationwide totals held steady even as the number of new infections fell in 19 states — including Iowa, South Dakota and several other states that were hit especially hard by the fall surge.
- A handful of populous states show significant increases, which is why the national total is still so high. California averaged roughly 32,500 new cases per day over the past week, an increase of almost 40% over last week.
Hospitalizations remain at a record high — roughly 113,000 people are in the hospital today for severe coronavirus infections.
- If many Americans travel for the holidays, cases could pick right back up.
- Vaccines eventually will help contain the virus. But it’ll be several months before the general public can start getting vaccinated.
President-elect Biden’s Presidential Inaugural Committee said this week that the “ceremony’s footprint will be extremely limited”: “The PIC is urging the public to refrain from any travel and participate in the inaugural activities from home.”
- But in keeping with tradition, the PIC is welcoming big-dollar donations, as you can see in this menu posted by CNBC:
JPMorgan Chase said that instead, it’ll give in the hometowns of Biden and Vice President-elect Harris: “This year, given the hardships facing communities and the demand on food banks, the firm has decided to instead make contributions to food banks in Wilmington, Delaware; Oakland, California; and Washington, D.C.”
Fiona Cicconi. Photo: Google
Google named Fiona Cicconi, an AstraZeneca executive, to head people operations — at a time when the search giant faces more legal and public scrutiny than ever, Axios chief tech correspondent Ina Fried writes from S.F.
- Why it matters: The morale-sapping issues can make it harder to retain talent. Today’s disgruntled worker could be tomorrow’s star antitrust witness.
Google says interest in working there remains “higher than ever,” with 3.3 million job applications in 2019, up from 2.8 million applications in 2018.
- Go deeper: Ina sketches the issues for Cicconi when she starts in January.

In September, Zoom canceled a San Francisco State webinar featuring Palestinian activist Leila Khaled, who took part in two plane hijackings.
- Why it matters: With Zoom now frequently transmitting public events, the platform is confronting knotty questions about content moderation similar to those faced by much larger companies, Axios’ Ashley Gold writes.
Zoom is “investing a ton” in developing clear-cut policies around content moderation and event hosting, Josh Kallmer, Zoom’s head of public policy, told Ashley on C-SPAN’s “The Communicators.”
What’s next: Zoom plans to have a Brussels office up and running by early 2021.

Pornhub removed up to three-quarters of its library — as many as 10 million videos, from a library of 13.5 million, per Motherboard — a content-removal earthquake the web has rarely seen, managing editor Scott Rosenberg writes from the Bay Area.
- Why it matters: Monday’s purge sent tremors through a tech industry built on user-generated content.
- After N.Y. Times columnist Nick Kristof’s exposé about Pornhub’s underage and nonconsensual content, Visa and Mastercard threatened to cut off the site.
What’s happening: Pornhub built a vast adult library by opening its platforms to uploads from anyone. But now it’s removing all videos except those from verified users — commercial partners or participants in its model program.
Between the lines: Some observers see the platform’s new restriction as a harbinger of how the web might change if Congress, as it has threatened, removes a key liability protection for online platforms, Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act.
Illustration: Sarah Grillo/Axios
More than 30 candidates — including national names like Andrew Yang — are either running or considering a run for mayor of New York, a job that will involve saving a critically wounded city, Axios Cities author Jennifer A. Kingson writes from Manhattan.
- Why it matters: Decisions the next mayor makes will not only help determine if Gotham retains its status as the financial, shopping, dining and glamor capital of the world, but also guide other U.S. leaders as they chart courses of recovery.
We told you yesterday about school districts that are ending the snow-day tradition in this virtual era. (N.Y. Times)

Dec 17, 2020 View in Browser AP MORNING WIRE Good morning. In today’s AP Morning Wire:
TAMER FAKAHANY
The Rundown AP PHOTO/MARTA LAVANDIER US vaccinations reach nursing homes as California faces crisis; Snowstorm hits Northeast at key moment in pandemic fight
The first COVID-19 vaccinations have gotten underway at U.S. nursing homes, where the virus has been especially devastating, as in other countries, killing upward of 110,000 people.
The elderly and infirm in long-term care have been among the most vulnerable to the virus and, together with health workers, are first in line to get the limited, initial supplies of the vaccine developed by Pfizer and Germany’s BioNTech, Adam Geller and Terry Spencer report.
VIDEO: Florida starts COVID vaccinations in nursing homes.
The U.S. appears to be days away from adding a second vaccine to its medical arsenal, but the nation is struggling to contain a surge so alarming that California is dispensing thousands of body bags and lining up refrigerated morgue trailers.
Two people are dying every hour in California’s most populous county as hospitals struggle to to keep up with the surge of coronavirus patients. The state set daily records for newly reported cases and deaths, John Antczak and Amy Taxin report.
Most of California’s 40 million residents are under stay-at-home orders because of dwindling intensive care unit capacity. The massive rise in infections began in October and is being blamed largely on people ignoring safety measures and socializing with others.
VIDEO: California doctors weary as hospitals near capacity.
Snowstorm: Added to the nationwide virus mix, snow continues to fall heavily on the Northeast at a key moment in the pandemic, days after the start of the vaccination campaign and in the thick of a surge that has throngs of people seeking tests each day. Snow fell from northern Virginia to parts of New England. It carried on north into the night, sustaining a storm that was poised to drop as much as 2 feet of snow in some places by today. The winter blast isn’t expected to disrupt vaccine distribution, Jennifer Peltz reports.
US Vaccine: Officials say they’re actively negotiating for additional purchases of Pfizer’s vaccine after passing up a chance to lock in a contract this summer because it was still unclear how well the shots would work. Meanwhile, the FDA says some Pfizer vaccine vials may contain more than the standard five doses, and it is advising health professionals to use every full dose possible, Ricardo-Alonso Zaldivar reports.
Evictions: States and cities that passed eviction moratoriums amid the virus-battered economy are wrestling with what comes next. The plight of renters who can’t pay and face eviction foreshadows a national crisis that’s expected to grow next year. Oregon is one of 15 states that have an eviction moratorium through the end of the year. In a special legislative session next week, lawmakers there will consider extending protections through July 1 and creating a $200 million fund mainly to compensate landlords. It would go further than a one-month extension of a federal eviction moratorium that’s expected in the relief package nearing consensus in Congress, Sara Cline reports.
Vaccine Misinformation: Twitter has said that it will begin removing misinformation about COVID-19 vaccinations from its site. It listed among posts that will be removed those including false claims that the virus is not real, debunked claims about the effects of receiving the vaccine and baseless claims that suggest that immunizations are used to harm or control people, Barbara Ortutay reports.
Will children be able to get COVID-19 vaccines? The AP is answering Viral Questions in this series. AP PHOTO/PAVEL GOLOVKIN BREAKING: French President Macron tests positive for COVID-19; Russia’s vaccine rollout draws wary response; Palestinians left waiting as Israel set to deploy vaccine
BREAKING: The presidential palace says French President Emmanuel Macron has tested positive for COVID-19. It said the president took a test “as soon as the first symptoms appeared.” The brief statement did not say what symptoms Macron experienced. It said he would isolate himself for seven days. “He will continue to work and take care of his activities at a distance,” it added.
Russia Vaccine: ”There is no absolute confidence yet.” That’s what an ICU specialist said who received the Russian-made vaccine in October. While excitement greeted the Western-developed COVID-19 vaccine when it was rolled out, this Russian version has received a mixed response. There are reports of empty Moscow clinics that offered the shot to health care workers and teachers, who have been designated to be the first to receive the vaccine, Daria Litvinova reports from Moscow.
Kremlin officials and state-controlled media touted the Sputnik V vaccine as a major achievement after it was approved in August. But among Russians, hope that the shot could reverse the course of the virus crisis has become mixed with wariness and skepticism. That reflects concerns about how it was rushed out while still undergoing final-stage testing to ensure its effectiveness and safety.
Mideast Vaccines Inequality: While Israel will begin rolling out a major vaccination campaign next week after the prime minister reached out personally to the head of a major drug company, millions of Palestinians living under Israeli rule will have to wait much longer. Worldwide, rich nations are snatching up scarce supplies of new vaccines as poor countries largely rely on a World Health Organization program that has yet to get off the ground.
But there are few places where the inequitable competition is playing out in closer proximity than in Israel and the Palestinian territories it has occupied for more than half a century. Israelis could soon return to normal life and an economic revival, even as the virus continues to menace Palestinian towns and villages just a few miles away, Joseph Krauss reports from Ramallah.
Asia Vaccination: The WHO says countries in the Asia-Pacific region are not guaranteed to have early access to COVID-19 shots and urged them to adopt a long-term approach to the pandemic. A WHO medicines coordinator says while some countries that have independent vaccine purchase agreements might start vaccination campaigns in the coming months, others could see vaccination begin in the middle or late 2021, Victoria Milko reports from Jakarta.
Britain’s Christmas: The U.K. has stiffened advice over what people should do during the holiday period, dialing back its initial easing guidelines. Last month, England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland agreed to permit a maximum of three households to mix between Dec. 23 and Dec. 27, regardless of what local restrictions are in place. But following a sharp spike in new infections, families are being urged to consider the rules as the outer limits of what they can do. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said it would be “inhuman” to ban Christmas, but due to “worrying” rises in new infections in some parts of the country, people should think hard about what to do, Pan Pylas reports from London.
Germany’s Lockdown: The country hit a new record level of deaths as it entered a harder lockdown, closing shops and schools to try to bring down continually high new cases. It recorded 179.8 virus-related infections per 100,000 residents over the past seven days, a new high. It also soared past its previous daily total, with the 16 states reporting 952 had died of the virus, David Rising reports from Berlin.
AP PHOTO/SUSAN WALSH Close but not yet: US Congress deal near on COVID-19 economic aid bill
“We’re still close and we’re gonna get there,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said as he left the U.S. Capitol last night.
Congressional leaders appear to be on the brink of a COVID-19 economic aid package, but there’s no deal yet, Andrew Taylor reports.
As negotiators went home, agreement seemed near on legislation that would extend help to individuals and businesses and ship coronavirus vaccines to millions. Negotiators are working on a $900 billion package that would revive subsidies for businesses hit hard by the pandemic, help distribute new vaccines, fund schools and renew soon-to-expire jobless benefits.
They’re also looking to include new direct payments of about $600 to most Americans.
There’s intense pressure for a deal. Unemployment benefits run out Dec. 26 for more than 10 million people and many businesses are barely hanging on after nine months of the punishing crisis. World’s Transformed Economies
The coronavirus pandemic ruthlessly upended economies across the world — transforming how people work, travel, eat, shop and congregate.
It has changed how students are educated, how people communicate and how households are entertained.
It has also widened a gap between educated and affluent people who can work from home and the less fortunate.
Even after vaccines have conquered the virus, economies have regained their health and jobless people have found work again, the economic landscape will almost certainly look different, Paul Wiseman and Alexandra Olson report.
Among the many life-altering consequences of the year 2020, the coronavirus has reshaped how people and businesses engage economically.
Economists say it’s far from certain which of the myriad changes will prove permanent and which may fade as people who’ve been holed up at home for months return to their pre-pandemic routines.
Will office workers yearn for their old cubicles and face-to-face contact with friends and colleagues? Will people return as they once did to restaurants, bars and pubs? Will audiences once again gather, elbow to elbow, for concerts, the movies and theater? And, if attendance doesn’t return to normal, can those industries survive? Other Top Stories Anxiety has overwhelmed many parents in Nigeria’s northern village of Kankara who await word on their sons who are among the more than 330 kidnapped by extremists from a government boys’ school. Hope remains, however, as 17 boys have been rescued since the attack. Nigeria’s Boko Haram jihadist rebels have claimed responsibility for the abduction of the students from the Government Science Secondary School in Kankara. Hundreds of other students managed to escape by jumping the fence during the extremists’ attack or by fleeing as they were taken into the nearby forest. A Chinese space capsule has returned to Earth with the first fresh rock samples from the moon in more than 40 years. The China National Space Administration says the capsule of the Chang’e 5 probe landed in the Inner Mongolia region. It’s the latest breakthrough for China’s increasingly ambitious space program that also that includes a robotic mission to Mars and plans for a permanent orbiting space station. Chinese leader Xi Jinping called it a major achievement that marked a great step forward for China’s space industry. Hundreds of desperate Tunisians have set themselves on fire over the past 10 years in an act of protest, following the example of 26-year-old fruit seller Mohammed Bouazizi, whose self-immolation in 2010 led to the downfall of Tunisia’s dictator of 23 years. Bouazizi’s public suicide unleashed the Arab Spring uprisings and a decade of crackdowns and civil wars across the region. While Tunisia now has more civil liberties and freedom of expression, it is plagued by an ever-worsening economic crisis. And some Tunisians still turn to that form of suicide to call attention to police harassment, poverty or the lack of opportunity in the country. Major League Baseball in the U.S. has reclassified the Negro Leagues as a major league and will count the statistics and records of its 3,400 players as part of its history. The league said it was “correcting a longtime oversight in the game’s history” by elevating the Negro Leagues on the centennial of its founding. The Negro Leagues consisted of seven leagues that existed from 1920-48. Those leagues were excluded in 1969 when the Special Committee on Baseball Records identified six official “major leagues” dating to 1876. The change means Hall of Fame pitcher Satchel Paige could add nearly 150 victories to his total. GET THE APP

DRIVING THE DAY
SO HERE WE ARE, Thursday morning, the government shuts down Friday, and we haven’t seen a word of the $1 trillion-plus in government spending and nearly $1 trillion in Covid relief. Both of these items will likely get a vote in the next few days.
THESE TALKS ARE ALMOST DONE. The two sides are haggling over the wording of policies and the structures of programs — big stuff, for sure, but standard in negotiations. Republicans launched a fight over a pot of FEMA money meant to help pay for Covid-related disasters — the GOP said it was a backdoor way to get money to states, and Democrats shot back that they were cold-hearted dopes who were trying to find things to fight about. Republicans said Democrats kept “moving the goalposts” on policies that were long settled. Democrats, quite obviously, disagreed. This type of back and forth this late in negotiations is actually quite standard.
SPEAKER NANCY PELOSI, Washington’s Most Eager Man Treasury Secretary STEVEN MNUCHIN and Senate Minority Leader CHUCK SCHUMER spoke around 10:30 on Wednesday night, per DREW HAMMILL, PELOSI’S deputy chief of staff. “All three emphasized the urgency to reaching an immediate agreement and will exchange additional paper and resume conversations in the morning,” HAMMILL tweeted.
THERE IS A LOT of optimism here. PELOSI said upon leaving the Capitol, “I think we’re in good shape but a lot of writing goes into it.” Senate Majority Leader MITCH MCCONNELL said “we’re still close and we’re going to get there.” Of course, nothing’s done until it’s done.
YOU MAY BE ASKING why they started these talks Tuesday — just a few days ahead of the deadline. House Majority Leader STENY HOYER — a 40-year veteran of the House — put it this way: “Why this takes so long is because we procrastinate, and we pretend, just one more day and we’ll get a better deal. And it’s frustrating for me, it’s frustrating for everybody, but that’s what happens.” Indeed, Steny. Indeed. POLITICO’s ledeall, by Burgess Everett, Heather Caygle and Jake
DIANNE FEINSTEIN INTERVIEW … L.A. TIMES’ GEORGE SKELTON: “Yes, Feinstein is the oldest U.S. senator. But she should be able to retire on her own terms”: “‘I don’t feel my cognitive abilities have diminished,’ she said in answer to my question about whether she felt they had. ‘No, not really. Do I forget something sometimes? Quite possibly.’
“That seems to be the main rap on her: short-term memory loss. During my roughly half-hour phone interview with Feinstein on Tuesday, she did repeat herself a couple of times after she’d moved on to talk about other things. That’s normal for many people, especially as they get older. But I hadn’t noticed it before in her.”
NYT, A1: KEN VOGEL and ERIC LIPTON: “Biden’s Inaugural Will Be Mostly Virtual, but Money From Donors Will Be Real”: “To create an air of celebration, Mr. Biden’s inaugural committee said it was raising private funds to pay for virtual events that will echo the Democratic convention this year, which featured a 50-state roll call from spots around the nation. There are also plans for a ‘virtual concert’ with major performers whose names have not yet been released — and possibly for an in-person event later in the year. …
“Mr. Biden’s inaugural committee is promising corporations that give up to $1 million and individuals who contribute $500,000 — the largest amounts the committee said it would accept — some form of ‘V.I.P. participation’ in the virtual concert.
“This special access is among the perks detailed on a one-page sponsorship menu from the committee that circulated among donors on Wednesday. Perks include ‘event sponsorship opportunities,’ as well as access to virtual briefings with leaders of the inaugural committee and campaign, and invitations to virtual events with Mr. Biden and Jill Biden, the future first lady, and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff.
“Top donors will also get a fitting memento for the coronavirus era — ‘virtual signed photos’ with the president-elect and the first lady, as well as Ms. Harris and her husband, replacing the traditional in-person rope-line photo opportunities for which donors usually pay handsomely at fund-raisers and other political events.” The sponsorship menu
Good Thursday morning.
HAPPENING THIS MORNING … California A.G. XAVIER BECERRA, Joe Biden’s pick for HHS secretary, will join JOANNE KENEN for a POLITICO Live discussion at 10 a.m. as part of the event “Closing the Gap: Latinos, Health Care & Covid-19.” Watch here

— “Biden to Get Covid-19 Vaccine in Public Next Week, Pence on Friday,” by WSJ’s Ken Thomas and Alex Leary: “President-elect Joe Biden intends to publicly receive the coronavirus vaccine as soon as next week, his transition team said Wednesday, as health officials seek to overcome any doubts about its safety.
“Vice President Mike Pence will get vaccinated on Friday, the White House said. His wife, Karen Pence, and Surgeon General Jerome Adams will also get the shot in what the White House said was an effort to ‘promote the safety and efficacy of the vaccine and build confidence among the American people.’ Mr. Biden has said he would follow the recommendations of Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.” WSJ
— “Interior’s Bernhardt tests positive for Covid-19,” by Anthony Adragna
— SCOOP: SARAH OWERMOHLE: “FDA says Pfizer vaccine vials hold extra doses, expanding supply”: “Pharmacists have found a way to squeeze extra doses out of vials of Pfizer’s vaccine, potentially expanding the nation’s scarce supply by up to 40 percent. The Food and Drug Administration said late Wednesday that those extra doses could be used, clearing up confusion that had caused some pharmacists to throw away leftover vaccine for fear of violating the rules the agency set last week.
“‘Given the public health emergency, FDA is advising that it is acceptable to use every full dose obtainable,’ an agency spokesperson told POLITICO, mirroring language that a federal health official sent to state vaccine providers Wednesday morning. The federal government has not publicly announced the guidance; Pfizer learned of the change this afternoon.”
WAPO’S ANNIE LINSKEY: “Biden launches a quiet effort to tame the Senate, a mission critical to his presidency”: “In public, President-elect Joe Biden is spending most of his time announcing Cabinet appointments, meeting with health experts and giving speeches on unity. Behind the scenes, though, he’s grappling with a grittier challenge that could be critical to his presidency — dealing with an unruly Senate.
“Biden’s strategy, displayed in private conversations and some public actions, features two goals, both exceedingly difficult: winning the two Senate runoffs in Georgia to seize a razor-thin Democratic majority, while forging alliances with key Republican senators.” WaPo
PENCE TO TRUMP: COOL, SEE YA LATER … GABBY ORR and NAHAL TOOSI: “Pence prepares to confirm Trump’s loss — and then leave town”: “On Jan. 6, Vice President Mike Pence will oversee final confirmation of President-elect Joe Biden’s victory. Then he’ll likely skip town.
“As vice president, Pence has the awkward but unavoidable duty of presiding over the session of Congress that will formalize Biden’s Electoral College victory — a development that is likely to expose him and other Republicans to the wrath of GOP voters who believe President Donald Trump’s false claim that the election was stolen from him.
“But Pence could dodge their ire by leaving Washington immediately for the Middle East and Europe. According to three U.S. officials familiar with the planning, the vice president is eyeing a foreign trip that would take him overseas for nearly a week, starting on Jan. 6.
“Though Pence aides declined to confirm details of the trip, which remains tentative, a U.S. government document seen by POLITICO shows the vice president is due to travel to Bahrain, Israel and Poland, with the possibility of more stops being added. A pre-advance team of Pence aides and other U.S. officials left earlier this week to visit the planned stops in preparation for the multicountry tour, which would be Pence’s first trip abroad since last January, when he traveled to Rome and Jerusalem on a whirlwind two-day sojourn.” POLITICO
REMEMBER THE POST-2012 AUTOPSY? — “‘Everything’s great’: GOP ditches election post-mortems,” by David Siders: “Democrats in Texas and New Hampshire are forming committees to examine the party’s failings in last month’s election. Less formal autopsies are underway in states across the country.
“But the party that lost the presidential election isn’t soul-searching at all. For the final act of his showman-like presidency, Donald Trump has convinced the Republican Party that despite losing the White House by 7 million votes — and despite seeing five states flip in 2020 — things could hardly be better inside the GOP.
“Even as the Electoral College this week confirmed Joe Biden’s victory, interviews with more than two dozen GOP state and local chairs and Republican National Committee members reflect a party that, far from reassessing its embrace of Trumpism, is hell-bent on more of the same.”
THE TRUMP LEGACY … “Lara Trump’s potential Senate candidacy does little to scare away Republican challengers in North Carolina,” by CNN’s Alex Rogers and Manu Raju: “The 2022 US Senate race in North Carolina could provide an early test of whether the Republican Party will continue to embrace President Donald Trump after his loss, potentially featuring Lara Trump, the President’s daughter-in-law, against a field of current and former Republican officials unwilling to step aside.
“Her public interest in the seat has not scared off a number of Senate Republican aspirants, who are driven in part by the alluring prospect of running for an open seat in the first midterm election of a Democratic president, which usually favors the opposing party.
“But Republican operatives warn that the family will still hold great political power over the party despite its patriarch’s devastating loss, saying Lara Trump could be a formidable candidate in a primary election for the seat that could determine the control of the Senate.

“The complaint, filed in U.S. District Court in Texas, alleges that Facebook emerged in 2017 as a powerful new rival to Google, challenging the Alphabet Inc. unit’s established dominance in online advertising. Google responded by initiating an agreement in which Facebook would curtail its competitive moves, in return for guaranteed special treatment in Google-run ad auctions, the lawsuit claims.
“Google’s internal code name for the alleged Facebook deal referenced characters from Star Wars, according to the suit, which redacted specifics. A person familiar with the matter said the code name was ‘Jedi Blue,’ after the sci-fi franchise’s Jedi knights.”

The Morning Briefing: Trump Can Be a Social Media Kingmaker if Twitter Bans Him
Twitter Needs Trump More Than Trump Needs Twitter
Happy Thursday, my Kruiser Morning Briefing friends. I have never owned a bean bag chair.
We’re going to talk about Twitter and social media today, even though I haven’t been hanging around there much lately. I went and set a reading goal on Goodreads at the beginning of the year and I hit December a full four books behind. I’ve been doing a lot of reading to catch up. Why does every modern novelist think that each book he or she writes has to be 600 pages long?
When Donald Trump first ran for president I was immediately impressed by his deft use of social media, specifically Twitter. He was using it to bypass the always biased mainstream media to get his message directly to the people. Very early on in that campaign I said that political science departments would one day be teaching classes about Trump and Twitter.
President Trump’s Twitter escapades these past four years have consistently annoyed all of the right people, and have been a never ending delight to watch. My favorite thing, of course, has been watching the Democrat flying monkeys in the mainstream media lose it because they weren’t able to be full time gatekeepers of the narrative.
His presence on Twitter has been a constant source of irritation the liberals, including all of the Twitter brass. They can’t get rid of him because he’s the president. There has been a lot of speculation about what might happen when the day came that he wasn’t.
Matt had a post yesterday that explored the subject:
For years now, the anti-Trump mob has been calling on Twitter to ban him from their platform, which he has effectively used to communicate directly with voters, bypassing traditional media. Twitter has resisted those calls for Trump’s ouster but has now confirmed that after he leaves office his account could be banned if he continues to “spread conspiracy theories,” Forbes reports.
Twitter has been aggressively flagging tweets alleging voter fraud with the disclaimer: “This claim about election fraud is disputed.”
For example, a Wednesday morning tweet—highlighting his 12 million-vote increase in 2020 over 2016 compared to Obama’s reelection in 2012, despite losing 3 million votes—was flagged because his tweet also said “Rigged Election!!!”
The libs are all acting like it will be a sick burn if Twitter bans Citizen Trump. I’m fairly certain he will get over it rather quickly.
In fact, if Twitter spurns Trump, it would put him in a position to give an almost overnight boost to some of its competition.
After Twitter and Facebook decided in October to punish anyone who told the truth about Hunter Biden, conservatives on social media began moving to other platforms rather quickly. Facebook types have been moving to MeWe and Twitter folk have been moving to Parler in droves.
Parler’s record growth has been greatly helped by Mark Levin, who has been using his considerable social media presence to exhort people to move over there:
Imagine the kind of growth spurt Parler would experience if Trump joined Levin in leading the conservative masses to the platform. I’m sure the Parler execs are probably thinking about that a lot.
Twitter would stupid to get rid of Trump, of course. He’s the greatest free advertising the platform has ever had. They’ve been in the advanced stages of Trump Derangement Syndrome over there for a long time though, and we know those afflicted with it don’t make good choices.
I’m beginning to get the feeling that the petty vindictiveness that we will be seeing from the Left for the next year or so is going to backfire on them in so many ways and provide opportunities for us on the Right.
So let the small people keep getting smaller.
We’ll always figure out a way to have fun while they do. It’s what we do over here.

The Morning Dispatch: Congress Closes In On Pandemic Relief Deal
Plus: How Democrats will deal with a slim majority in the House.
The Dispatch Staff | 2 hr ago | 4 | 1 |
Happy Thursday! And an extra happy Thursday to the pharmacists around the country who noticed they could squeeze extra doses of vaccine out of the Pfizer vials, potentially increasing our national supply by up to 40 percent!
Quick Hits: Today’s Top Stories
- Congressional leaders on Wednesday inched closer to finalizing a roughly $900 billion coronavirus relief package that will likely include enhanced unemployment insurance and direct payments to Americans, but exclude more contentious provisions: liability protections for employers sought by Republicans and increased funding for state and local governments sought by Democrats.
- Ten state attorneys general—led by Ken Paxton in Texas—sued Google on Wednesday, alleging the company conspired with Facebook to rig an illegal digital advertising monopoly. “We will strongly defend ourselves from his baseless claims in court,” a Google spokesperson said in response.
- The Supreme Court on Wednesday agreed to hear a case concerning whether the NCAA’s policy of restricting compensation for student athletes violates federal antitrust law.
- Major League Baseball announced Wednesday that the Negro Leagues will be given major-league status to “highlight the contributions of the pioneers who played from 1920-1948.” Records books will be retroactively adjusted to rectify what the league said was “clearly an error,” ensuring all Negro League players will have their stats and achievements officially recognized by the MLB.
- The United States confirmed 248,248 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday per the Johns Hopkins University COVID-19 Dashboard, with 13.4 percent of the 1,786,767 tests reported coming back positive. An additional 3,929 deaths were attributed to the virus on Wednesday, bringing the pandemic’s American death toll to 307,429. According to the COVID Tracking Project, 113,069 Americans are currently hospitalized with COVID-19.
A COVID Relief Deal in Sight?
In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, as the virus caught our health systems unprepared and threatened to completely derail the U.S. economy, Congress acted quickly to prevent the worst of the damage, passing several monster federal aid packages to keep businesses and families solvent even as economic activity ground nearly to a halt overnight.
But as key provisions of that legislation expired over the summer, particularly expanded unemployment insurance for laid-off workers, lawmakers failed to find common ground on another round of aid, despite both parties’ stated interest in passing a bill. Perversely, Democrats and Republicans couldn’t agree on how many trillions of dollars the situation required—with the result that no new money was allotted at all.
Now, however, the logjam finally appears to be breaking apart. After days of negotiation, congressional leaders sounded confident that a deal will be struck before the end of the week, when a government shutdown deadline looms. “We’re gonna get there,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told reporters Wednesday evening. “We are very close,” said Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
What’s changed since the last time negotiators failed to keep talks from collapsing? For one thing, there’s no more election-related incentive for lawmakers to take their ball and go home, then blame the fallout on the supposed recalcitrance of the opposing party. Election 2020 is over; might as well try to get some governing in before the politicking starts up again in 2022.
Additionally, a whole additional slate of CARES Act provisions was set to expire at the end of the year unless a new deal was struck, including jobless benefits for gig workers and the long-term unemployed.
None of this has brought lawmakers closer to compromising on their primary negotiating asks. Democrats still want to see a bill with serious money to bail out cities and states left cash-strapped by the pandemic, which—unlike the federal government—don’t have the ability to run near-bottomless spending deficits. And Republican leaders have long pushed for the next batch of legislation to contain liability protections to shield businesses and schools from lawsuits related to COVID transmission.
But lawmakers have warmed to the possibility of simply passing a bill that contains the spending priorities they can agree to, including about $325 billion in small business relief, a reinstatement of the CARES Act’s beefed-up unemployment insurance provisions (albeit at only half the previous rate of $600 per week), and another round of (also somewhat smaller than before) direct-aid checks to taxpayers. The whole thing is likely to carry a price tag of about $900 billion—which happens to mirror the sum proposed earlier this month in the House Problem Solvers Caucus’s compromise package almost exactly.
If a deal is struck, it’s unlikely to put an end to the relief debate for long. Republicans are likely to see this package as the last federal spending binge to bridge the gap until a critical mass of the U.S. population has received a coronavirus vaccine and normal economic life can resume. Meanwhile, Democrats are already describing the compromise deal as a stopgap measure until Joe Biden takes charge in the White House in January.
“The stimulus package is encouraging,” Biden said Wednesday. “It’s a down payment. An important down payment that’s going to have to be done.”
House Democrats’ Majority Shrinks
House Democrats went into the 2020 election expecting to pick up more than a dozen seats. Instead, they lost just about every toss-up race and will begin the 117th Congress with the smallest House majority either party has held in two decades.
Making her Dispatch website debut this morning, Haley Byrd Wilt explores how the new dynamics will play out when Congress convenes in January.
The math will force Democratic leaders to change their tactics, both in drafting bills and in reining in the rank and file. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will be working with a margin of only a handful of Democratic votes—Democrats will have to be almost completely unified to pass any legislation Republicans oppose.
The weaker majority will influence the kinds of bills Democrats are able to pass.
Budget Committee Chairman John Yarmuth of Kentucky said it will be “very, very difficult” to advance a legislative agenda in the House.
“There’s no way to sugarcoat it. I don’t know how we do anything significant,” he told The Dispatch during a brief interview at the Capitol. “The big picture is, I mean, there’s no chance we get anything done on immigration. There’s no chance. It’ll be even difficult to do infrastructure.”
The new majority also serves to empower individual members in this way: The margin for success on partisan legislation will be only a few Democrats.
Any handful of like-minded Democratic lawmakers will be able to band together in a small faction and insist that their priorities be reflected.
“The slimmer margin, it cuts both ways,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York told The Dispatch last week. “It’s tough because we have to make sure that we cobble together a winning majority, but also it’s solid because we’re able to push a little bit more.”
Asked how willing she and her fellow progressives are to take advantage of the numbers to shape legislation, Ocasio-Cortez said it will be important for members “to not pull that trigger on a consistent and very sensitive basis.”
“But,” she added, “I do think that it gives us leverage to use that when it’s absolutely necessary.”
House Democratic leaders are considering how best to approach the new dynamic.
“When you’ve got 20 votes to spare, it’s a little different when you’ve only got two,” House Whip Jim Clyburn said. “So you make that adjustment, go from bill to bill. It’s not going to be any one standard thing.”
Michigan Rep. Dan Kildee, a chief deputy whip for the Democratic Caucus, acknowledged the numbers “could constrain us a bit” and said there will be more of a focus on including members in the drafting process early on to make sure varying perspectives are addressed.
“We’re going to have to really work hard to have a lot of voices in the room as things are being put together,” he said.
But there could also be procedural changes, like limiting tools for House floor debate, to make it easier for Democratic leaders to keep the party unified.
“We may see a once-in-a-century top-down process in the House in this upcoming Congress, just given the political conditions and the size of the majority,” Josh Huder, a senior fellow at Georgetown University’s Government Affairs Institute, said.
Worth Your Time
- In a deeply personal feature for The Atlantic, McKay Coppins delves into his own experiences with the Mormon Church, looking ahead to the “most American religion’s” third century. As one of the fastest-growing faiths—averaging 700 converts a day—the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has become an object of fascination in recent years for its relative resistance to Trumpism. “Scholars have offered an array of theories to explain this phenomenon,” Coppins writes. “That Mormon communities are models of connectedness and trust, that the Church’s unusual structure promotes consensus-building over culture war, that the faith’s early persecution has made its adherents less receptive to nativist appeals.” But ultimately, he notes that “Mormons didn’t become avatars of a Norman Rockwellian ideal by accident. We taught ourselves to play the part over a centuries-long audition for full acceptance into American life. That we finally succeeded just as the country was on the brink of an identity crisis is one of the core ironies of modern Mormonism.”
- In a New York Times op-ed, President Trump’s former homeland security adviser Tom Bossert writes that the magnitude of Russia’s ongoing cyberattack “is hard to overstate.” He notes that it will take years to fully grasp the scope of the breach, but that, in the meantime, “we must act as if the Russian government has control of all the networks it has penetrated.” It’s a time for unity, he writes. “President Trump is on the verge of leaving behind a federal government, and perhaps a large number of major industries, compromised by the Russian government. He must use whatever leverage he can muster to protect the United States and severely punish the Russians. President-elect Joe Biden must begin his planning to take charge of this crisis. He has to assume that communications about this matter are being read by Russia, and assume that any government data or email could be falsified. At this moment, the two teams must find a way to cooperate.”

Stick around for a conversation on the 2021 races worth keeping an eye on, all things Hunter Biden, and, sigh, when you should call someone “doctor.”
- In his Wednesday G-File (🔒), Jonah explores why so many conservatives have dispensed with conservative philosophy in favor of blind, religious fealty to Donald Trump: “We spent 2,000 years working toward an idea of government that American conservatives are charged with conserving. But for some reason that should all go out the window, because one fallen man is the Chosen One—the fact that he wasn’t chosen by the voters be damned.”
- It appears that Western nations are finally waking up to the remarkable extent of the Chinese Communist Party’s infiltration of Western businesses and government. “Late last week, the British and Australian press were abuzz with a news story that deserves more attention—and scrutiny—here inside the U.S.,” writes Thomas Joscelyn in his latest Vital Interests (🔒) newsletter. “The story centers on an alleged database of approximately 1.95 million members of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) around the world, many of whom work for or who have ties to Western companies or even government agencies.”

KEY POINTS FROM THIS ARTICLE— In a highly unusual situation, both of Georgia’s Senate seats will be on the ballot next month — one seat was already scheduled to be elected, while the other is a special election. — As January’s result will decide control of the Senate, both sides are invested in Georgia’s outcome. — In the regular election, Democrat Jon Ossoff made some gains in the suburbs since he was last on the ballot, but to beat Sen. David Perdue (R-GA), he’ll likely have to do even better. — The battle for the state’s other seat is a bitter contest between appointed incumbent Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) and Rev. Raphael Warnock, a Democrat and a preacher. — Though it would add an extra layer of chaos to the outcome, history — and data from November — seems to point away from a split outcome. All eyes on GeorgiaAs the calendar year winds down, political observers still have two major elections to look forward to — on Jan. 5, Georgians will start off the year by voting in two Senate contests. While the fact that the Peach State is hosting these runoffs isn’t too much of a surprise, the stakes are. Last month, Democrats underperformed expectations in key Senate races. They were burned in Maine and North Carolina, where their nominees had clear leads in both polling and fundraising, while they saw highly-touted challengers in redder states, like Montana and South Carolina, endure double-digit losses. Though Democrats ended up netting a seat, they’re projected to hold 48 seats to the GOP’s 50, while the two GOP-held Georgia seats will be decided next month. Because of their disappointing results last month, Democrats’ only path to Senate control in the 117th Congress (barring a party switch or vacancy) would be to run the table on the two Georgia races. In that scenario, the Senate would be tied 50-50 and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris would cast a tiebreaking vote. If Republicans hold only one of Georgia’s seats, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) would retain a 51-seat majority. So no pressure, Georgia voters! This type of double-barreled Senate election occurs with some regularity. Since 2000, five biennial election cycles have seen scenarios where both of a state’s Senate seats were up, while six cycles haven’t (Table 1). Table 1: Double-barreled Senate races since 2000Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) was first elected in 2014, and would have been scheduled to face voters this year regardless, with his standard six-year term expiring. His colleague, Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA), was appointed last year to finish the term of former Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-GA), who retired early. Loeffler’s seat will come up again in 2022, so she — or her Democratic opponent, Rev. Raphael Warnock, if he wins — must be prepared to run again in two years for a full term (though either could, theoretically, serve two years and retire, leaving an open seat). While both races are critical to the overall senatorial picture, the developments and trajectory of the regular election have been more straightforward, so let’s start by looking at that race. Regular Election: Ossoff wins GA-6, but he’ll need to do even betterLast month, Sen. Perdue finished with 49.7%, while his Democratic challenger, Jon Ossoff, took a tick under 48% — the rest went to Libertarian Shane Hazel. As Georgia law states that no candidate can hold state office without winning a majority of the vote, the race advanced to a runoff. Indeed, Georgia is the only state that uses a standard partisan primary system but also requires general election runoffs. Historically, or at least since 2008, the runoffs have helped to insulate Republicans in statewide races, as Democratic enthusiasm tends to taper off after November — however, given the national implications, neither side is taking anything for granted this time Broadly, the dynamic at the top of the ticket was similar to North Carolina, a demographically comparable southeastern state that saw closely-contested presidential and senatorial races. Though President-elect Joe Biden lost North Carolina by just over one percentage point, he did slightly better than the Democratic nominee, former state Sen. Cal Cunningham, who lost by 1.8%. In Georgia, Biden became the first Democrat since Bill Clinton in 1992 to carry the state, but not all the elements of his coalition transferred down the ballot. To wit, Biden received almost exactly 100,000 more votes than Ossoff. That gap was most acute in precincts in the northern part of the Atlanta metro area. On one level, this wasn’t that shocking. Biden tended to earn the most votes, compared to Ossoff, in areas like northern Fulton County and southern Forsyth County — these areas have only started to shift Democratic fairly recently, and presidential voting trends often take longer to solidify down the ballot. Still, Ossoff is well known in the area, so his underperformance is something Democrats should take note of. Before he was a senatorial candidate, Ossoff was the Democratic nominee in a 2017 special election in Georgia’s 6th District. Interestingly, GA-6 covers much of the area where he most underperformed Biden. That June 2017 election was watched nationally, as an early test of Democratic resilience in the Trump era, and the winner would replace then-Secretary of Health and Human Services Tom Price, who had held office in the area since the 1990s. At the time, it was the most expensive congressional election in history; considering that over $400 million has been spent already on the Georgia runoffs, his current situation must seem like a familiar predicament to Ossoff. Though Republicans ended up holding the seat with former Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel, their success was ephemeral — Handel rented the seat for about 18 months before losing to now-Rep. Lucy McBath (D, GA-6). In 2017, Ossoff lost what, at the time, must have been a stinging 52%-48% race to Handel. But this year, he considerably improved his standing in GA-6, carrying it by five percentage points (Map 1). Map 1: GA-6, 2017 vs. 2020On the third image in Map 1, there’s a salient pink strip that bisects DeKalb County — these precincts all got more Republican from 2017, and one of them, in Brookhaven, even flipped against Ossoff this year. Perhaps not surprisingly, most of these precincts have relatively high Hispanic populations, a group that, across the board, swung to Trump in 2020. According to Dave’s Redistricting App, those precincts in DeKalb County that swung against Ossoff were 46% Hispanic by total population as of the 2010 census, and that number has likely gone up. Though the Georgia runoffs have very much the feel of a special election — which can lead to, well, special, results — perhaps January’s results will show how much of Trump’s Hispanic strength will transfer to other Republicans in his absence from the ballot. While Ossoff’s performance in GA-6 represented a solid reversal of his 2017 showing, it wasn’t the best Democrats could do there. In the presidential race, Biden carried the district by nearly a dozen percentage points. Biden’s victory in Georgia gives Democrats the blueprints of what a statewide victory looks like, so increasing his margin in GA-6 will be paramount for Ossoff in the runoff. Special election: Out of the jungle, into the runoffIn contrast to the regular race — which has been in a general election mode since the summer — the special election matchup was only solidified last month. Perhaps because this race has been so fluid, it’s made for a more dynamic campaign to follow. The genesis of this unusual election was in August 2019. Capitol Hill’s — and Georgia’s — political atmosphere was rattled by the news of Sen. Johnny Isakson’s (R-GA) resignation. Isakson, a Republican who was elected to the Senate in 2004, cited his ongoing battle with Parkinson’s Disease. His departure left Gov. Brian Kemp, also a Republican, with the responsibility of naming his successor in the Senate. President Donald Trump personally lobbied Kemp to appoint Rep. Doug Collins (R, GA-9) to the seat. Collins, with his political base in the Appalachian north, was one of the president’s most vocal defenders during the impeachment proceedings. Instead, Kemp chose to appoint wealthy Atlanta businesswoman Kelly Loeffler. A financial executive, Loeffler owns part of Atlanta’s Women’s National Basketball Association team and is married to Jeffrey Sprecher, the president of the New York Stock Exchange. The thinking seemed to be that Loeffler would be better-positioned to appeal to women in the state’s fast-growing suburbs — and after all, Sen. Perdue, as a first-time candidate in 2014, successfully swapped his career as an international business executive for an assignment in the U.S. Senate. After being snubbed for the appointment, Collins expressed interest in running for the seat and formally entered the race in January 2020. He had the support of some Tea Party-aligned groups, who expressed concerns about Loeffler’s conservative credentials. Collins would also eventually garner several legislative endorsements, including from state House Speaker David Ralston (R). His early supporters charged that Loeffler has made campaign donations to Democratic politicians in the past and that the WNBA has ties to abortion rights group Planned Parenthood. Given Georgia’s federal trends, Democrats vowed to make a serious play for this seat, and they rallied around Rev. Raphael Warnock, the pastor of Atlanta’s historic Ebenezer Baptist Church (the late Martin Luther King Jr. was ordained and preached there). He received early endorsements from 2018 gubernatorial nominee Stacey Abrams, the late Rep. John Lewis (D, GA-5), and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC). Other Democrats attempted to compete in the race as well, but they were either poorly-funded or had support that was too regionalized. In Georgia, special elections are held under Louisiana-style jungle primary rules. This means that every candidate, regardless of their party affiliation, appears on the same ballot, with the top-two finishers advancing to a runoff if no one gets over 50% (this same format led to the Ossoff vs. Handel special election runoff in 2017). As the race featured 20 candidates (though not all of which were serious), a runoff was essentially guaranteed. In a late October ad, Warnock found a creative way to emphasize his place in the crowded field: He reminded voters to “look all the way down there” for his name on an alphabetically-listed ballot. For the earlier months of the campaign, most of the attention was centered around the battle between Collins and Loeffler — some polls even suggested an eventual intraparty GOP runoff. In the early weeks of the coronavirus pandemic, Loeffler came under fire for some stock transactions that she and her husband made after she attended a briefing on the threat of the virus. Documents revealed that she and her husband sold stock in companies that were likely going to be hit the hardest by the pandemic. She denied any wrongdoing and was cleared by the Department of Justice. But accusations of insider trading still figured prominently into attacks on her, by both Collins and Democrats. (Perdue has dealt with similar attacks in the other Senate race.) To recover, the Loeffler campaign adopted a seemingly counterintuitive strategy, given the rationale behind her appointment, but one that paid off against Collins: She ran to his right. In one ad, the senator who was purportedly appointed to appeal to soft suburban Republicans, claimed to be “more conservative than Attila the Hun.” On the campaign trail, she welcomed an endorsement from Rep.-elect Marjorie Taylor Greene (R, GA-14), a far-right Republican who has associated herself with the debunked QAnon conspiracy theory. Loeffler’s maneuvering proved to be successful, at least in making the runoff: she took second to Warnock, and finished six percentage points ahead of Collins (Map 2). Map 2: 2020 Georgia special Senate primaryAs Republican partisans had a choice between two well-financed conservatives, national Democrats didn’t invest a lot of resources in the jungle primary. Warnock’s campaign got off to a slow start, and he had to deal with some unpleasant headlines himself. For instance, a few weeks after he entered the race, he and his wife of three years were in court attempting to resolve a divorce dispute. He also had trouble picking up name recognition early on — during the summer, some polling showed him struggling to garner 10% support. But his campaign began to take off in early fall after he received an endorsement from former President Barack Obama and started airing television ads. For Warnock, it seemed to be a case of peaking at the right time; as he consolidated the Black vote, he climbed to first place in Monmouth University’s final poll and earned a spot in the runoff. Warnock had the Democratic “lane” of the jungle primary largely, but not entirely, to himself. While no other candidates that shared his party label claimed double-digit support, he still was on the ballot with seven other Democrats. Map 3 considers only the votes that Democrats received in the jungle primary. Warnock’s 1.62 million votes represented 68% of the 2.38 million votes that the Democratic field received. Map 3: Warnock’s share of the Democratic voteWarnock ran well in Chatham County — he’s originally from its largest city, Savannah, and was above 68% in many of its precincts, so perhaps he saw something of a hometown boost. Though by the same token, in another non-Atlanta metro, Augusta, he fell below his state average. One of his Democratic opponents, former state Sen. Ed Tarver, is from the area. Statewide, Tarver took just 1% of the Democratic vote, but 12% in Augusta’s Richmond County. In the Atlanta area, Warnock was relatively weak in Gwinnett County, an area that has fueled recent Democratic gains in the state. In the central part of the county, which runs along a stretch of Interstate 85, he was only polling in the 50s (sticking to the left image on Map 3). In the 2018 Secretary of State runoff, Gwinnett was one of the counties most responsible for sinking the Democratic nominee, former Rep. John Barrow (D, GA-12) — in a December runoff, he fared much worse than Stacey Abrams did in her gubernatorial race the month before. This isn’t to say that the county will see a similar drop-off next month, but it’s a place where Democrats have lost votes in the past. Overall, the runoff election is shaping up to be very contentious. Warnock has attacked Loeffler for trading stock as the pandemic was crippling the economy. Loeffler has tried to frame some of Warnock’s lines from past sermons as extreme, and has accused him of wanting to defund the police. The sole debate of the runoff was defined by these attacks. Loeffler repeatedly called Warnock a “radical liberal” while he countered that she was “appointed, and Georgia has been disappointed.” Though that debate was predictable, and almost seemed scripted, at least voters got a fresh taste of their options together — in the runoff for the regular election, Perdue skipped a debate with Ossoff. For partisans, runoff elections are often about turning out the base — the venues where each candidate has campaigned illustrate this well. For their part, Republicans are working to turn out rural areas: Loeffler kicked off the start of the early voting period this week with an event in Rome, in the northwestern corner of the state, while Perdue rallied in Macon, an area where his political family has its roots. On the Democratic side, Biden headlined a drive-in rally in Atlanta this week, though Democrats are also hitting other metro areas. Ossoff recently appeared in Augusta, an region where Biden made some notable gains over past Democratic presidential nominees. The bottom line: This election is about as close as you can get. In November, polling-based aggregates were relatively accurate in Georgia — FiveThirtyEight’s model, for instance, pointed to a narrow Biden win — and the polling we’ve had since then of the Senate races usually finds the contests within the margin of error. It’s hard to tell who has the edge, but undoubtedly, the party that does a better job turning out the base will be the party that carries the day. Early voting seems to be off to a strong start — though given the odd timing of this election, it is possible that early voting may be a bit frontloaded, as voters may want to get their civic duty out of the way before the holidays. Going into the November election, Democrats relied most on absentee voting by mail. The early in-person vote — which accounted for 54% of the overall total — favored Trump, but not as heavily as what was cast on Election Day (Map 4). Map 4: November 2020 Georgia vote by methodP.S. History is against a split verdictAlmost exactly three years ago, with the 2018 midterms approaching, former Crystal Ball associate editor Geoffrey Skelley took an extensive look at the history of double-barreled Senate elections. One of the article’s key findings was that the last time a double-barreled situation resulted in a split senatorial delegation was back in 1966. So, in other words, in these types of scenarios, both seats almost always go to one party. A precinct-level analysis of November’s Georgia elections seems to suggest this pattern will continue. Map 5 compares the 47.9% share that Ossoff received against Perdue to the 48.4% that the Democratic candidates in the special election combined for. Ossoff ran ahead of the Democratic share in the special election in the red precincts, and behind in blue. Map 5: Ossoff vs. Democrats in the special electionWhile there will inevitably be some voters who split their tickets — perhaps in the interest of fostering a split government, or they may genuinely like candidates from different parties — given the highly partisan and nationalized tenor of the campaign, one party seems likely to monopolize the results. Democratic sources have stressed to us for months that Ossoff and Warnock have very much tried to run as a ticket — even before the November election, they held several joint events. On the GOP side, Collins was a team player: He immediately endorsed Loeffler after the primary. So, going into an election where the stakes couldn’t be higher, both parties are working to project images of unity. However, Map 5 also suggests a key fact to remember: Even as Biden was narrowly winning Georgia in November, Perdue and the combined Republican vote outpaced Ossoff and the combined Democratic vote in both Senate races. If the Republicans hold both Senate seats, this dynamic from the first round of voting may have been prophetic. The Crystal Ball continues to rate both races as Toss-ups.

Suburban Shifts Power Biden Victory Greater Atlanta, Denver, and Twin Cities illustrate Democratic gains over 2016 |

KEY POINTS FROM THIS ARTICLE— Joe Biden outran Hillary Clinton in 73 of 75 large suburban counties, an indicator of the suburban strength that carried him to the White House. — In Georgia, Colorado, and Minnesota, Biden’s performance in the major suburban areas served as bellwethers for his statewide performance, as he used strong improvements in these counties to pad his statewide margin and carry himself to victory. — The link between education and voting tendencies is only getting stronger, with a heavy correlation emerging between Biden’s vote share improvement and the county’s four-year-degree rate. Biden’s suburban swingsAs Donald Trump became the first incumbent who lacked a serious primary challenger to lose re-election since 1932, Mitch McConnell noted, “We need to win back the suburbs.” An early analysis gives credence to McConnell’s theory; across 75 counties around major metro areas with over 105,000 presidential votes cast, Biden outran Hillary Clinton in 73 of them and Barack Obama in 66 of them. The demographics, geography, and local politics of these areas may vary greatly, but whether in a strong Republican area like Waukesha County in Wisconsin or a Democratic stronghold like Ramsey County in Minnesota (which contains the city of St. Paul and can really be classified as both urban and suburban), one thing was consistent: in suburban areas, Biden significantly improved on Clinton’s 2016 margins, and these gains paved his path to the White House. In this article, we will examine Biden’s suburban performance in three key 2020 states that provide a microcosm of the trends observed at large: Georgia, Minnesota, and Colorado. Georgia flipped from Trump 2016 to Biden 2020, while Biden carried Clinton states Minnesota and Colorado by markedly larger margins than Clinton did four years ago. A few of the aforementioned counties electorally doomed Trump, but perhaps none are as devastating as the ones in the Atlanta metropolitan and suburban areas. Georgia as a state is politically very different from even what it was four years ago, and nothing illustrates this better than the elasticity[1] of the state, which shows us the vote variation of an area over a period of time. As shown below, the overwhelming majority of the state is extraordinarily inelastic, with little shift in margins between Clinton’s 2016 loss, Stacey Abrams’ (D) 2018 gubernatorial loss, and Biden’s 2020 win. However, there is one major pocket of elastic voters, and it is located in the Atlanta metro area, which dominates the population of the state and constitutes an outsized proportion of Georgia’s voters. Joe Biden took an overwhelming share of the swing voters in these elastic areas, improving on Clinton and Abrams’ margins in suburban and exurban areas like Cobb, Gwinnett, Douglas, and Forsyth by immense amounts and setting himself up for victory. Maps 1: Georgia elasticity, 2016-2020Map 2: Georgia presidential swing, 2016-2020The Georgia shift coincided with the party’s strength at the presidential level among college-educated whites and Black voters. While Trump made some gains with Black voters in exit polling (though the reliability of those numbers, especially in the days after the election, should be limited), Biden still won 88% of Black voters in Georgia. Additionally, he earned the support of 57% of college graduates, including 44% of college whites, which far exceeds Clinton’s 28% total in the 2016 exit polls. Both Cobb (46.5%) and Gwinnett (36.1%) have rates of education well above the national 33% average of adults that completed a four-year degree. Moreover, each county is at least 29% Black, per the 2018 Census estimate. These two factors — a high number of Black voters and a high number of college graduates — explain why the two counties swung further toward the Democratic presidential candidate between 2012 and 2020 than any other suburban county in the nation did. Had Trump stemmed the bleeding of votes a bit and picked up just a few more percent of the votes in either of those two counties, he’d have extended Georgia’s Republican presidential streak to seven elections. As it is, Joe Biden rode his gains in Gwinnett and Cobb to the first Democratic victory at the presidential level in Georgia in nearly 30 years. The theme of suburban victories keyed by winning over college-educated voters was also perhaps the biggest story behind the shift in Minnesota, which saw one of the largest pro-Biden shifts among the 2020 battleground states. Although Obama won the state by 7.7% in 2012, Clinton won it by a mere 1.5% in 2016, and both campaigns thus considered Minnesota a key battleground in 2020. However, Biden carried it by an impressive 7.1%, earning over 350,000 more votes than Clinton and swinging critical areas of the state his way. Map 3: Minnesota presidential swing, 2016-2020This trend is even more visibly obvious in Colorado, which is second only to Massachusetts in percentage of residents with a bachelor’s degree. A pillar of the Republican’s Electoral College “lock” decades ago, Democrats have now won it in four straight elections, thanks to their gains with suburban voters. Based on two-party vote share, Crystal Ball Managing Editor Kyle Kondik found Colorado shifted 4.2% toward the Democrats from 2016 to 2020 in terms of two-party Democratic vote share, which was 0.5% greater than any other state. Map 4: Colorado presidential swing, 2016-2020The trend continued across the Denver suburbs. Biden vastly improved in the counties of Arapahoe (42.8% college-educated) and Douglas (58% college-educated), as he ran over eight points ahead of Clinton’s margins and beat Obama’s vote share by 7.8 and 9.2 points, respectively. Interestingly enough, his suburban gains persisted in this state even as education levels dipped; for example, in Adams County, which has a degree rate of 24.8%, Clinton ran 6.2% behind Obama, but Biden reversed her shortfall there by finishing 6.8% ahead of Clinton’s vote share. These large gains are key to understanding Biden’s incredibly strong victory in Colorado. Hillary Clinton won the state by a little over 136,000 votes, while Biden won it by around 440,000. But tellingly, in the five suburban counties surrounding Denver, Biden more than doubled Clinton’s vote margins. The strength of the suburban swing meant Colorado went blue by double-digits for the first time in over 50 years. The trends we see in Georgia, Colorado, and Minnesota are, to some degree, a microcosm of what we find nationally and a reflection of a pattern emerging over the last decade. In counties where Biden ran behind Obama, education was a highly influential factor. Below, we can see that across all 75 suburban counties considered, there is a high degree of correlation between education rates and the net change in vote share between Biden and Obama; essentially, the more educated the county, the better Biden did. Figure 1: Biden 2020 vs. Obama 2012 in big suburban countiesWhether Biden’s gains in the suburbs are durable is the difficult question for the Biden coalition (and, indeed, for the Democratic one at large). His strength across America’s well-populated and well-educated suburbs might portend a path for the Democratic Party to build a durable coalition with more regular turnout rates, which may bode well for them in midterm elections. Alternatively, it might be a reminder of the fleeting nature of political coalitions; after all, less than a decade ago, Mitt Romney won several of these very counties. As Georgia proved this year, streaks last until they don’t. Footnote[1] Elasticity is described in this Crystal Ball article. The set considered is the 2016 presidential race, the 2016 senatorial race, the 2018 gubernatorial race, and the 2020 presidential race.

Donald Trump will not surrender America to the Chinese Communist Party
Posted: 17 Dec 2020 02:30 AM PST FIRST THINGS FIRSTAs Christians, we have been taught by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to love our enemies, to turn the other cheek, to render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s and to seek first the Kingdom of God. While we are not told in scripture why Judas chose to betray Jesus, historians believe that Judas may have wanted and expected Jesus to cast out the occupying Roman Empire and to free Israel from foreign domination. Students of eschatology understand that prophecy reveals that while Jesus came first as a lamb, he will return as a lion. Dispensations in church history are periods or ages in which God reveals himself to his people within the context which they can fathom. We are much closer to Christ’s Second Advent than to His First Advent. But as Christians and as people of ethics, integrity and conscience, we are caught in a tension between wanting to always do good to others and having to fight to preserve our way of life. The Founders of the United States of America absolutely depended upon Divine Providence in establishing this Republic as enshrined in our Declaration of Independence and our U.S. Constitution. Both have endured over the centuries and have defied many mortal attempts to destroy America’s uniqueness in all of human history. But now we have reached the first time that a foreign government has nearly succeeded in wiping out our form of governance to subjugate us to the evil ideology of Marxism. This is something the Soviet Union never accomplished during all the years of the Cold War. But the Chinese Communist Party and Xi Jinping in Beijing are on the very verge of controlling Washington, DC by installing a puppet government subordinate to their evil dictates. The United States Senate website states:
This concept is totally antithetical to the absolute control of the brutal regime in China. While it was true in God’s dispensation on Earth at the time of Jesus’ Incarnation, as well as in our own dispensation in 2020/2021, that God’s Kingdom is not of this world, that will change when Jesus returns to set things right. In the meantime, surrender to the CCP is absolutely not an option! You have only to look at how all religious minorities in China, not only Christians, but also Muslims, Buddhists and others are persecuted and killed to realize that the time to resist and fight back is now to prevent a hostile takeover of our homeland. SECOND THINGS SECONDFirst I wanted to deal with the spiritual conflict that many of us are experiencing right now. But for the more secular among us, if you’re still with us at this point, as well as for Christians to whom this also applies, there are many ethical and philosophical conflicts in the struggle we now face. A person of ethics, integrity and good conscience also wants to have a solid philosophical basis for his or her actions. We do not just react on the spur of the moment. We are introspective and examine our own motivations. This differs greatly from many shallow people on the other side of the political spectrum who simply do what is expedient and which benefits them in the short run without really considering the implications in their own lives or caring about the potential harmful impact upon others and upon society as a whole. Greed for power and wealth has corrupted many weak-minded people. This is what you see now when Americans cooperate, who are complicit, in an Act of War by a vicious foreign enemy. They don’t stop to think about words like treason. They simply believe that what they are doing will benefit them personally in the short-term with no real vision of the future. OUR DILEMMATo summarize what we have discussed thus far, the problem is that we are trying to convince bad people to do good things simply because they are good things. That approach has never worked before and it certainly will not start working magically now. If people have no underlying ethical basis for their actions, no concept of right and wrong, you can talk yourself blue in the face and they will not change course. Therefore, the time for mere words, for taking the conventional course, has come to a screeching halt. So, let’s look together at the options that remain to preserve the landslide victory which President Donald Trump won in our recent election on November 3rd. You will see why the concepts that I have just outlined will be determinative in the constitutional process still lying ahead of us between now and January 20th. SCOTUSYou may ponder whether the nine black-robed Justices on the United States Supreme Court deliberately decline to accept and make a decision on one case because it may prejudice their ruling in a later case of greater significance and precedent. Without spending too much time trying to put ourselves into their reasoning process and what goes on behind the scenes, I think we can stipulate that the introspection of a Supreme Court Justice far exceeds that of the average member of the U.S. Congress. Like a baseball umpire, the best U.S. Supreme Court Justice is the one whose name you don’t remember after the game. Think about that for a minute. The three Justices nominated by President Trump ~ Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett ~ more than anything else do not want their legacy to be that they got their job not out of their eminent qualifications but rather to protect their benefactor, the President of the United States. That ironically would result in a bias not to be overly sympathetic to his cause. Which of course would be absolutely the wrong approach in any case. The facts are the facts and they are either true or they are false. Let the chips fall where they may. But it is a significant reason I do not put too much hope that SCOTUS will provide a remedy which will prevent election theft and ensure that the true winner takes the Oath of Office on January 20th. CONGRESSLet’s take a moment to correct one misconception that seems to be floating around a lot lately. If the slates of electors which were submitted to the Electoral College are the subject of an objection in the joint meeting of Congress on January 6th, when the Senate withdraws for the two-hour debate, and the House separately votes whether to sustain the objection, the House will do so on a roll call basis of its members which are predominantly Democrat. The vote by state delegations which are predominantly Republican only occurs if neither candidate gets a majority of electoral votes and there is a contingent election. Therefore, the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives can be anticipated to go in favor of Joe Biden whenever there is an objection to a state’s electoral votes. That, unfortunately, does not bode well for President Trump. Where my earlier discussion of ethics comes in is that it is most likely that Democrats will vote a straight party-line with zero defections because they do not tend to be introspective or conscience-driven. The scenario in the Senate, however, is utterly different. Even if the two Georgia Senators keep their seats and there is a GOP majority, or if they lose and there is perhaps a 50/50 balance between Republicans and Democrats, even with VP Mike Pence in his role as President of the Senate as a potential tiebreaker, you can absolutely expect defections among Republicans. To name a few names, it is most likely that Mitt Romney would not vote to favor President Trump, nor probably Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski and possibly even the Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell himself. So, do not anticipate the Senate to do the right thing just because it is the right thing. Republicans are not historically known as being paragons of virtue. The only thing really bipartisan on Capitol Hill is corruption which pervades both political parties. You may expect it in the Democrats, but that Republican you voted for and sent up there to represent you may not be trustworthy. Because a number of states with contested elections have submitted two slates of electors, what if Mike Pence as the presiding officer says that the GOP slate will be accepted? Or, what if the slate of Democrat electors is accepted? Either way, you could expect an objection signed by at least one Representative and one Senator. If it is the Democrat slate, then the House will probably not sustain the objection under the roll call procedures outlined above. If it is the Republican slate, then the GOP Senate defectors could sway the results in the wrong direction. Remember that both chambers must agree to sustain an objection or else is fails. To summarize, if it is a Republican slate, GOP defectors in the Senate could join the Democrat House in sustaining the objection. If it is a Democrat slate, then the House could kill the objection. So, what can you do about it? You can all contact your Republican Senator and demand that they support President Trump. Either way, my final point here is that it doesn’t look like Congress will do the right thing on January 6th. But, I sincerely hope they will. OTHER OPTIONSWhether you are a religious person or a secular person of conscience, civil disobedience is not in your everyday vocabulary. We love that America has always been a nation of laws where we respect and obey our Constitution as well as federal statutes. But when the people we put in positions of authority and responsibility betray their Oath of Office and betray all of us in the process, all the while realizing that the consequence of their actions is submission to CCP control of America, these are extraordinary times which call for extraordinary measures. Executive Order 13848 issued by President Donald Trump on September 12th, 2018, “Executive Order on Imposing Certain Sanctions in the Event of Foreign Interference in a United States Election,” is one of the most prescient EO’s of all time. This Executive Order requires the Director of National Intelligence to submit a report within 45 days after the election identifying any foreign interference. That date would be tomorrow, Friday, December 18th, however DNI John Ratcliffe has requested an extension to ensure that all relevant facts are provided to the president in a timely manner. What President Trump, as Commander-in-Chief, will do, we should before long find out. He has both military and civilian advisors defining his options to counteract China. Indications are that Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, Panama and other nations have been involved. But there is no doubt that the Chinese Communist Party is behind this attempt to subvert our election and in the process to overthrow our constitutional form of government by installing Joe Biden as their own pawn in the White House. It will not succeed. It must not succeed. Our very survival is contingent upon repelling this foreign invasion. Retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant General Thomas McInerney has made some very strong recommendations in this regard. They include declaring martial law, invoking the Insurrection Act, using military tribunals and suspending the Writ of Habeas Corpus. He is a retired Three-Star General. Far be it from me to go on record stating whether this is the proper course to be recommended to President Trump. Just be aware that these options have been proffered by a United States military officer in a very high position with the background to understand the issues and to know what he’s talking about. Lt Gen McInerney undoubtedly understands the seriousness of such measures, particularly if the CCP were to be successful in getting Joe Biden or Kamala Harris into the Oval Office. My role as a journalist, as I always remind everyone, is just to inform and to frame the issues for public awareness. This is something that only President Trump can ultimately decide upon. SO, WHAT DO WE DO NOW TO KEEP AMERICA AMERICA?First I’ll tell you what we don’t do. We don’t just sit back and do nothing. I’m a bit older than many of you reading this. If God be merciful, I might have a maximum of another quarter-century on this earth. Some of you will have substantially more than that. Don’t let those be years of remorse for an opportunity squandered and a country lost! SCOTUS and Congress should both be surrounded by patriots in vast numbers reminding both our Judicial and Legislative Branches that they work for us. Keep letting President Trump know that we support him and thank him for standing strong. No president since Abraham Lincoln has ever faced an imminent Civil War. But while it would indeed pit Americans against one another, this time it would be different because directions for one side would flow from China which has infiltrated virtually every institution in our land. This isn’t just about a Democrat Congressman who allegedly slept with a Chinese spy. This is about an entire nation full of traitors who slept with the enemy. That’s how serious is this threat. Let President Trump know you support his timely decisions and actions and that extraordinary times require extraordinary measures. Let your Governor, your state legislators, your U.S. Representative and your Senators, as well as your local media, know where we stand. We stand on the solid ground of the U.S. Constitution for all else is sinking sand. FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTIONBringing us back full circle to my opening discussion of both spiritual and philosophical values, every mortal human being (and every one of us is mortal) in this real-life drama playing out before our eyes, has to search his or her own heart for indeed these are the times that try men’s (everyone’s) souls. Patriot Thomas Paine as well as General George Washington fully realized what the consequences would be if King George prevailed and put down the American Revolution. Rather than being our national heroes, they would have gone down in ignominy as traitors while Benedict Arnold would have become a hero. If Xi Jinping writes the history of 2020 in Mandarin with a blood-stained quill you will be able to read it in English under the title “America’s Epitaph”! President Biden would be its leading villain. Don’t let that happen! COVID-19 lockdowns are taking down an independent news outletNobody said running a media site would be easy. Technically, all Christians ought to be Christian Nationalists
Posted: 17 Dec 2020 01:04 AM PST Very few people in Big Eva love the spotlight as much as Beth Moore. She loves making vague statements leveling unsubstantiated accusations against the church. After several months of soothing the conscience of Joe Biden voters, Big Eva is circling the wagons to rally against the biggest threat to Christianity in America, “Christian Nationalism.” Erick Erickson and David “Vichy” French have both chimed in their support of an absolute heretic, while claiming Christ, because Trump Derangement Syndrome is a very ecumenical cult. Fill in the blank. The greatest threat to the church in America is _________. Marxism, the scamdemic, effeminacy, lukewarmness, are all better answers than Trumpism or Christian Nationalism. Those who worship the state, who view politics as a religion, project this worldview onto those who do not. Christians are not worshipping at the alter of Trump just because they support him. No Christians are justifying his past adulteries or treating Trump as a messianic figure. “Make America Great Again” is a call to a sort of American reformation whereas “Hope and Change” is far more utopian or messianic, and “Build Back Better” especially so given the context of The Great Reset. The issue here is that Christian Nationalism is undefined. Nationalism has varying definitions. I believe that nationalism is a beta ideology. The definition of nationalist may more accurately be synonymous with patriot. But like populism, one can not simply be a nationalist. This ideology must always enhance an alpha ideology. Alexander Hamilton, Teddy Roosevelt, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, John F Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, and Donald Trump are all nationalists despite their vastly differing ideology elsewhere. Nationalism is also an orientation in-between globalism and localism. Whereas socialists in America today are globalist, socialist movements in the past like Nazi Germany were ethno-nationalist. In America, freedom loving patriots debate, like Jefferson and Hamilton, whether freedom is best preserved with a love of country and an emphasis on that or focusing more on caring for one’s state. In 2020, with state governments ramping up their petty tyrannies, one can easily see the federal government and national politics as a means of advancing freedom, hence side towards nationalism over localism. But let us suppose Evangelicals are worshipping Trump. With churches disobeying God by refusing to gather in person, President Trump fighting Critical Race Theory more than pastors, these people would feel that Trump is fighting the evil that the churches have largely capitulated or retreated from. Though the actions of the idolaters condemn them that practice, this is an indictment on the church’s cowardice. Alas, as Christians we are ambassadors of a kingdom that’s not of this world, but our King has been given all power, which means all power, in this world. Ambassadors exist to serve their nation’s interests. Ambassador’s of Christ should actively be seeking to make the world more Christlike, not because of our eschatology or because the gospel needs maintenance, rather because faith without works is dead. We have a Great Commission to serve for a Kingdom not of this world. One might call that Christian Nationalism. Now if this Christian Nationalism manifests itself in the form of supporting a movement to reform America to a time when it was greater than the decay I’ve seen in my lifetime, because such a time America was more committed to Christian principles, then that is advancing the cause of the Kingdom. After all, the alternative to this manifestation is globalism which at present speed will take us straight to the Tower of Babel. Many Christians believe that supporting Trump’s brand of nationalism is the best means available to head off the sequel to the Tower of Babel, and who can blame them for wanting that. Call to actionMany Christians have warned about heretics like Beth Moore. I believe Evangelical Dark Web does the best job at pointing out her connection to the heretical Social Justice Gospel. Read about Beth Moore here. And subscribe to the Evangelical Dark Web here. COVID-19 lockdowns are taking down an independent news outletNobody said running a media site would be easy. Media manipulating away alleged voter fraud?
Posted: 17 Dec 2020 12:56 AM PST The forensic report that revealed problematic issues with the voting machines used in the presidential election was yet another story that the establishment media would rather you didn’t hear. Despite the revelation of potentially severe flaws in the software created by Dominion Voting Systems, corporate media outlets opted to ignore the story. This begged the obvious question: What were they afraid of? Article originally published at Liberty Nation. Forensic Report Uncovers Problems With Dominion MachinesAllied Security Operations Group’s (ASOG) forensic team examined the machines used to tally votes in Antrim County, MI after it was discovered that 6,000 votes had been switched from President Donald Trump to Joe Biden. The investigation came about after a lawsuit was filed to gain access to the machines. The results the team found were quite disturbing. Liberty Nation’s Onar Åm reported:
ASOG’s discoveries are quite serious given the controversy over the election results. After the report was publicized, President Trump took to Twitter to inform his audience of the findings. “Tremendous problems being found with voting machines. They are so far off it is ridiculous,” he wrote. “Able to take a landslide victory and reduce it to a tight loss. This is not what the USA is all about. Law enforcement shielding machines. DO NOT TAMPER, a crime. Much more to come!” He continued: “68% error rate in Michigan Voting Machines. Should be, by law, a tiny percentage of one percent. Did Michigan Secretary of State break the law? Stay tuned!” Where Are The Media? One would think that a 68% error rate in machines used to determine the result of a presidential election would be noteworthy, especially if the president of the United States is weighing in on it publicly. But the left-wing activists in the corporate press responded mostly by putting their hands in their pockets and whistling an obscure tune. The media’s lack of curiosity about this story told us all we needed to know, didn’t it? It is not clear that the issues with the company’s devices is widespread or that they are responsible for Biden’s supposed victory. Nevertheless, the matter was certainly worth investigating. Unfortunately, when the Fourth Estate is made up of leftist activist organizations masquerading as journalistic outlets, the American public must be kept in the dark. John Poulos, CEO of Dominion Voting Systems, testified in front of Michigan’s legislature on Tuesday, Dec. 15, to push back against the allegations being leveled at his company. During his opening statement, he said that the criticism the company has received is part of a “dangerous and reckless disinformation” campaign and noted that some of his employees had been harassed and received death threats. He explained that most of the irregularities found in counties in which the company’s machines were used were “isolated incidences” caused by “human error.” When discussing the Antrim County issue, he stated that “what the report is alleging is impossible” because they did not use “digital adjudication.” Poulos also claimed that no votes were switched by the company’s software and noted that, in some counties where it was used, Trump received more votes than Biden. At one point, a legislator asked about the potential for fraud if the voting machines were connected to the internet. Poulos explained that in Antrim County, there was no “internet connectivity at all,” adding that the machines used a local connection. He also noted that the “system is designed not to be connected,” and that if election officials are “running certified software on systems that are not connected,” they can be audited. But this leaves the possibility that “human error” on the part of election officials could potentially lead to the machines being connected to the internet unbeknownst to those who are supposed to prevent this from happening. Because the results of the ASOG report did not fulfill the fair-and-free-election narrative pushed by the advocacy press, reporting on it was deep-sixed. Now it remains to be seen if the pushback by the Dominion official will be trumpeted far and wide, because it counters some of the serious allegations. However, at what point are there so many “human errors” that it becomes impossible to believe that all of the mishaps were not deliberate? ~ Read more from Jeff Charles. Arizona legislature’s joint resolution offers a path for an accurate 2020 election result
Posted: 16 Dec 2020 09:09 PM PST In 1960, two slates of electors were chosen. One was for the apparent winner of the state, Richard Nixon. The alternate elector slate was for John F. Kennedy. When the dust settled after legal battles and a contentious recount, it was the alternate electors who ultimately were selected to bring their votes before Congress. With seven states sending alternate elector slates this year, we may see a similar situation unfold. To do that, state legislators need to act. 28 of Arizona’s legislators, led by current Congresswoman and Senator-Elect Kelly Townsend, have signed a joint resolution calling on Congress to accept the Trump-Pence slate of electors instead of the Biden-Harris slate.
I had the pleasure of interviewing Townsend during the latest episode of NOQ Report and her actions are provocative. She and her fellow patriots are working towards securing more signatures so that a legislative session can be called to make it official. Some say they will need half of the legislators in the Republican-majority bodies AND Governor Doug Ducey to call the session before November 6th. Others point out (rightly, in my opinion) that the U.S. Constitution trumps the state constitution and therefore they do not need to requisite 2/3rds vote to call themselves into session without the Governor’s assistance. This is, after all, a federal matter. Townsend was very clear that her goal is not necessarily to “overturn” the election for President Trump. Instead, she is simply seeking the truth. Most conservatives believe that the truth is President Trump won the state handily and only through massive cheating were Democrats able to take the lead at the last minute in the state. The legislature has already subpoenaed Dominion Voting System’s hardware for forensic inspection to determine if foul play was, indeed, happening on and shortly after Election Day. If Arizona is able to secure the righteous results, it could tip the first domino for other states to follow suit. We are hopeful and prayerful that they are successful and the corrected, accurate results of the election will come out in time.

President Trump versus Saul Alinsky
Posted: 16 Dec 2020 08:26 PM PST At some point, Americans who love the truth and love their country are going to have to realize that the underlying motives of leftist moral/political grandstanding always take precedence over any issue they sanctimoniously “advocate.” Leftist claims of concern for women and their possible abuses reach a crescendo of shrillness and hysteria, even on the flimsiest of grounds, when the accused “abuser” is a conservative whose career they seek to destroy. But let massive evidence of actual sex trafficking, molestation, and rape of women and children occur at the hands of that long list of dirty leftist Democrat officials, and those previously shrill voices on behalf of “women” go instantly silent. On a host of topics, from “global warming” to compliance with the law, to who can pray to what in the classroom, leftists instantly do a complete “about-face” and contradict themselves the moment they see a political advantage in doing so. The list could go on forever. The starkness of their hypocrisy is only exceeded by the ease with which they shamelessly shift from one “moral” precept to another totally contradictory one, in order to maintain their stance of presumed “virtue” and superiority. The latest example of such vapid brazenness comes in the wake of the totally corrupt and fraudulent 2020 Presidential “Election,” in which President Trump clearly dominated until the wee hours of the morning after. Suddenly, leftists realized they needed to shutter the doors and windows, while massively shifting the vote counts with boxes of fake ballots, manipulated software in “counting” machines, and every other form of fraud and treachery imaginable. Then a miracle happened. Insurmountable Trump majorities in all key swing states simultaneously mutated into razor thin margins, for the Democrats of course. America didn’t buy any of it. Americans all saw the glaring patterns of cheating and manipulation. And every honest citizen recognizes the crucial importance of unmasking and reversing the fraud, if elections are ever again to mean anything, which will determine if America itself is ever again going to mean anything. Thus far, patriotic Americans have received transparent and worthless deflections from the left, along with nauseating platitudes of acquiescence from too many claiming to be on the “right.” Like clockwork, leftist subversives who did everything they could over the past four years to attack President Trump and America itself (as another avenue to undermining him), now drip with a poisoned pretense of “virtue,” as they demand that we drop in line behind them, and unify, “for the good of the country” of course. And to nobody’s great surprise, here comes that revolting cadre of cowardly RINO sycophants, agreeing with the left and groveling before them with the exuberance of lackeys who have no moral compass, and no dignity. On this basis, we are supposed to universally recognize and revere Joe Biden as “president elect.” Leftist Democrats have been obsessing over this inane title since about 4 am on Wednesday November 4, when they tallied the first numbers suggesting that their election heist had succeeded. They fanatically demand that we comply, to the point of nearly deeming it treasonous to reference Biden in any other manner. But the vehemence and overbearing nature of all this only connotes Democrat “strength” if We the People accept it as such. Otherwise, it highlights a decisive degree of vulnerability on their part. President Trump clearly knows this, which is why he steadfastly refuses to make any concession whatsoever to accommodate the left, despite enormous pressure from across the political landscape. He knows that cowardice and moral bankruptcy ultimately come from the same political mindset, no matter in which party its practitioners claim to reside. Had he conceded to these people, they would all have had the absolute best excuse to ignore the rampant Election Day fraud and criminality. Had President Trump caved and followed what those lesser political players deemed the more “honorable” course, he would have given them all “cover” for the treasonous actions in which they engaged. This is how the vile strategy of Saul Alinsky and the American left operates. It builds its case on totally bogus premises, presented as the pinnacle of “virtue” and “worthiness.” This facade of presumed merit is bolstered by both the absolute moral bankruptcy of its leftist advocacy, as well as the thorough moral cowardice of those on the right who should be standing against it, but who put their own interests ahead of anything else, including their Country. Were President Trump to opt for the “easy” way out (politically speaking) by capitulation to all of this, he would first have to sink to that same corrupt level, among the bottom feeding “statesmen” of the GOP who now castigate him. He would have to not only abandon his massive voting base, he would have to abandon the law and the Constitution. In so doing, he would be giving “license” to such dangerous, despotic practices, helping to establish them as the “new order” for America’s governance going forward. President Trump has no intention of going there. By the tens of millions, the American people on “Main Street” agree. And this is what separates Real America from those despicable people who deem themselves to be the “Ruling Class.” As we carry forth the torch of liberty and justice, we cannot, we must not, allow such people to set boundaries for us. Former Facebook fact checker: Social media used as weapon to force compliance
Posted: 16 Dec 2020 07:53 PM PST A former Facebook Fact Checker came out and revealed how “fact checking” really works. The details were published on LinkedIn by Jean-Pierre “Raven” Gregoire. Facebook is rapidly censoring anyone who doesn’t go along with controlling guidelines. Facebook will only allow information on covid-19 if it supports the narrative of shut-down-mask-up-separate-isolate-and-vaccinate. Facebook’s belligerent censorship of health freedom advocates, conservatives and patriots is only the beginning. Facebook is being weaponized to manipulate users into intellectual submission — forcing acceptance of left-wing policies, medical Marxism and global communism via “The Great Reset.” Article originally published at Natural News. “I can’t say this on Facebook, but I feel it’s important to say. I was a Facebook Fact Checker. And your conspiracy theories about Facebook, are more true than you realize,” wrote Gregoire, who worked as a third-party contractor for Appen, a Facebook Fact Checking organization. The company is located in Canada and coordinates with a company in India to stifle the free speech of Americans. Facebook singles out conservative, patriotic, and health freedom posts and feeds them to foreign “fact checkers”Gregoire said that Mark Zuckerburg cannot directly censor anyone on the platform because Facebook is an open platform. Instead of censoring people outright, Facebook uses several third-party companies to “Fact Check.” This is how Facebook censors its users legally and controls the narrative across the social media landscape. But the censorship is bigger than Zuckerburg and his views. Facebook, like other Big Tech companies, controls a significant portion of information that people see and read on a daily basis. Knowing this, special interests, governments, and those with political and business interests are constantly trying to influence the leaders of Facebook. If these special interests can restrict the flow of competing information and snuff out dissent on important topics, then they can successfully brainwash entire swaths of people into accepting their plans, products and visions. This corruption and manipulation show no semblance to a free market. Shutting down the free flow of ideas is oppressive and un-American. Facebook and other Big Tech platforms have become weaponized thought control systems used for tyrannical means. Facebook being used as a weapon to manipulate the world to accept medical Marxism and global communismRich and powerful figures like Al Gore, Justin Trudeau, Bill Gates, George Soros and Klaus Schwab are working toward a new world order – a global reset – that institutes a new global economy. These officials are in cahoots with Zuckerburg and will control content across Facebook to mirror their vision for the future. Gregoire said that content is sent directly to the fact checkers if it contains conservative ideas and terms. When left-wing posts are flagged for violence, the fact checkers ignore them, even when they violate Facebook’s terms of service or federal law. When the government cracks down on Facebook, the social media company passes the blame to the foreign fact checkers, a matter that is out of the government’s jurisdiction. According to Gregoire, Facebook created a program that “feeds posts automatically into our service.” Facebook algorithms are actively analyzing content in posts and sorting out common images and lines of text. Anything on their blacklist is automatically flagged and sent overseas to the fact checkers. The fact checkers do not search for conservative posts; it is Zuckerburg and his team who automatically detect them and send them over for deletion. This Facebook algorithm will discredit an entire article if it contains just one phrase that supports conservative principles or ideas. This tactic is deployed against health freedom advocates as well. Gregoire said, “as long as we all push the same idea, what we say becomes truth. That’s standard psychology and Americans are the easiest to manipulate with this.” Gregoire said the fact checkers write articles and cite their own articles as evidence. “We only allow members to join us if they pass a test, this test is an opinion-based survey, however, they must answer all left leaning, or they are not allowed to join, we won’t be diluted.” Gregoire now warns that China understands this system and is doing everything they can to make sure that all evidence of election fraud is whitewashed and the coordinated attempt to overthrow a duly-elected President is made complete by mass manipulation of the American people. Gregoire said that many members of Congress are in on the “Great Reset,” including Biden and Harris. Gregoire said part of their plan is to spark a race war to create insurrection, as was done throughout 2020. Visit Censorship.News for more on Big Tech’s manipulation. Lt Gen McInerney: Declare martial law, invoke Insurrection Act, use military tribunals, and suspend Habeas Corpus
Posted: 16 Dec 2020 04:33 PM PST Retired Lt Gen Thomas McInerney has been exposing the coup being implemented by the Globalist Democrats in stealing the 2020 Election since before the election even occurred. In fact, he broke the story about Hammer and Scorecard on Freedom First Network’s show Two Mikes with Dr Michael Scheuer and Col Mike. The Deep State has been exposed for being deeper than probably even President Donald Trump even realized before he took office. When it comes to this election, it is clear for anyone who logically looks at the evidence being presented that this election was stolen. Joe Biden is not the president-elect. McInerney explained exactly how the steal occurred, which was a combination of several different contributing factors. It started with COVID-19 earlier this year, which led to the mail-in ballots. It continued with the use of Dominion to “count” the ballots, as well as using Hammer and Scorecard to manipulate the results. According to Lt Gen McInerney, the same people involved in the Russia Hoax are the ones calling the shots on this stolen election. There are multiple different things that McInerney is calling on President Trump to implement in order to save our country and ensure that Joe Biden and the Democrats don’t pull of this steal: declaring Martial Law, implementing the Insurrection Act, using Military Tribunals and suspending Habeas Corpus. These are drastic measures, but the fact that this election is being stolen calls for an extreme response. He makes the case that these are legal avenues for President Trump to pursue, established by our Founding Fathers to ensure that we have a recourse against a coup like we are going through today. It’s clear that the Democrats are willing to do anything that they have to do to get rid of President Trump and gain power of America. This is High Treason, and the penalty for treason is hanging, McInerney reminds us. We find ourselves in the midst of an insurrection, and we’ve got to nip it in the bud. It’s now or never. If we don’t expose the Deep State right now, they’ll control our government and we’ll never have another legal avenue to have a Republican president in our lifetime. It’s now or never… do or die time for our country!

Life after SCOTUS

In arguing for Biden’s claim to the presidency, liberals and some conservatives have nullified the whole purpose of the 14th amendment — equal protection under the law and due process.

Now that Twitter feels secure election fraud was successful, they’ve returned to normal retweets
Posted: 16 Dec 2020 04:17 PM PST Just before the November election, Twitter made it more challenging to retweet. They forced users to click the retweet button, then a dialogue popped up for people to “quote Tweet” instead of just retweeting. This caused much confusion; anecdotal evidence shows many users didn’t really understand how it all worked or if they could retweet without putting in their own thoughts as a quote Tweet. The unspoken purpose of this change was to control the flow of information propagated on their “platform.” It was a challenge for those who like to retweet popular conservative accounts, particularly President Trump’s. Conservatives are generally less “tech savvy” than their younger progressive counterparts, so it was noteworthy that leftist accounts seemed to thrive while conservative accounts lost reach and amplification. Now that the election is unofficially over, Twitter is reversing itself.
As they noted in the October 21 post, this was a temporary change. And now that they’re feeling confident the role they played in stealing the election was successful, they’re switching back. It’s that simple. The time may or may not be now for conservatives to leave Twitter, but the writing is on the wall. They hate conservatives and will put their thumb on the ideological scale whenever possible. They are not a “platform.” COVID-19 lockdowns are taking down an independent news outletNobody said running a media site would be easy. Black Lives Matter raised $10.6 billion since May
Posted: 16 Dec 2020 04:05 PM PST Donations to Black Lives Matter-related causes over the past 7 months rival Amazon’s total profits for all of 2019 — which was a record-breaking year for the online retail giant. Article originally published at Information Liberation.
According to the Economist, BLM is planning to start a bank and has already begun giving money to “gay rights groups” (75 percent of black people voted to ban gay marriage in California in 2008 but the figureheads who run the Black Lives Matter organization are two self-described “queer lesbians” who say on their official website their goal is to “foster a queer‐affirming network” with “the intention of freeing ourselves from the tight grip of heteronormative thinking”). From The Economist, “Six months after mass protests began, what is the future of BLM?”:
Susan Rosenberg is not black. The Economist continues:
Nothing says “black liberation” like taking donation money and loaning it to black people so you can profit off interest! How long before we see BLM payday loan centers set up in inner cities charging 700 percent interest? Whose idea was this, exactly? Something tells me this idea wasn’t dreamed up by Tamika Mallory!
Look on the bright side, Vanessa, at least you can say you got a new flavor of Ben and Jerry’s to “serve up joy on the journey to justice!”
Talk about getting played! Odds are this money is going to be funneled to political witch-hunting organizations and doxing groups run by the friends of Susan Rosenberg that work to suppress all those who oppose the prog-globalist agenda! The Fight Continues, What We Knew, The Resistance Grows
Posted: 16 Dec 2020 10:32 PM PST
by Gary Bauer: The Fight Continues Why would they bother to do that? Well, if there is a legal breakthrough in court or some other discovery that helps the president prove his case, his electors will have fulfilled their legal obligation to have met on the required date. Meanwhile, the president continues to use every precious hour of the remainder of this first term. He’s appointing strong conservatives to boards and commissions all over the federal government. He’s doing other things I can’t mention here that will make it more difficult for Biden and Harris, if they take office, to implement their radical agenda. There are also unconfirmed reports that the president wants the Justice Department to appoint a special prosecutor to take over the Hunter Biden case. If that happens, it will make it harder, not impossible, but much harder for Joe Biden to end the investigation if he takes office in January. I think he should do it. Polling shows that the American people believe the media deliberately ignored reports about Hunter’s corrupt foreign dealings, and they also believe that Joe Biden was fully aware of those dealings. We deserve to know if the Biden family has been compromised by communist China. What We Knew
The media didn’t think that any of this was relevant in any way, and it actively suppressed much of this information. Contrast the way Hunter has been protected by the press and political establishment with the way Michael Flynn was persecuted. Or how Jeff Sessions was forced to recuse himself for having briefly met with the Russian ambassador. And how Donald Trump Jr. was investigated for collusion for simply meeting with a Russian who wanted to discuss foreign adoption policies. The left’s double standards are disgusting. But, as one commentator likes to say, if the left didn’t have double standards it wouldn’t have any standards at all. The Resistance Grows
Here’s something you should know: According to New York state’s contact tracing data, private household gatherings were responsible for 74% of the coronavirus spread from September through November. Yet Cuomo is attacking restaurants and churches, which were responsible for only 1.43% and 0.69% of coronavirus cases. While I am pleased to read reports that Congress may be on the verge of passing additional emergency relief measures to help struggling businesses and families, I think progressive politicians should lead by example. Every governor and mayor who orders businesses to essentially commit suicide by depriving them of customers and income should not be allowed to collect their own income. Period. The Fake News vs. The First Lady This is another false attack on the first lady, just like they have attacked her husband. To begin with, attendance at the event was limited to allow for social distancing of the children. Moreover, the first lady was seated not six feet away, not eight feet away, not ten feet away, but twelve feet away from the few children who were present. The event was also broadcast to more than 300 hospital rooms for other children who could not attend. But there was another big point that most of the media neglected to mention or remember. The first lady has already had virus. She has antibodies. She’s not going to infect anyone else. I’m sure there will be plenty of apologies later today. NOT! 11 Cases of Defensive Gun Use That Show How Biden’s Key Picks Miss the Mark
Posted: 16 Dec 2020 09:55 PM PST
by Amy Swearer: Joe Biden has begun naming his picks for top political positions in a Biden administration, and it is already evident that many of them are not fans of Americans’ Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. For example, California Attorney General Xavier Becerra—Biden’s choice to head the Department of Health and Human Services—has spent the past three years defending that state’s absurdly restrictive gun control laws in federal court. Meanwhile, Dr. Vivek Murthy—chosen by Biden to return to the post of U.S. surgeon general—repeatedly has argued that gun-related violence should be reframed as a public health issue, with restrictive gun control measures imposed on law-abiding citizens to help combat it. One aspect of public health and safety that these gun control advocates regularly fail to acknowledge, however, is just how often law-abiding citizens use their firearms to successfully defend themselves and others. According to a 2013 report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, almost every major study on the issue has found that Americans use their firearms in self-defense between 500,000 and 3 million times a year. There’s good reason to believe that many of these defensive gun uses aren’t reported to police, much less make the local or national news. For this reason, The Daily Signal each month publishes an article highlighting some of the previous month’s many news stories on defensive gun use that you may have missed—or that might not have made it to the national spotlight in the first place. (Read accounts from 2019 and so far in 2020 here.) The examples below represent only a small portion of the news stories on defensive gun use that we found in November. You may explore more by using The Heritage Foundation’s interactive Defensive Gun Use Database.
No one seriously argues that devastating public health consequences don’t occur when criminals or others struggling with mental health conditions have ready access to guns. Policy steps certainly can and should be taken to remove firearms from individuals who pose a danger to themselves or others. Many of the policies proposed or advocated by Biden’s political picks, however, fail to meaningfully address the realities underlying gun-related violence. Just as importantly, they fail to account for how firearms often are used in defense of physical safety, and how these measures hamper the ability of law-abiding citizens to protect themselves or others. Serious constitutional concerns aside, these types of gun control laws simply aren’t necessary—indeed, they often aren’t even useful—for saving lives. But such laws are very good at undermining the Second Amendment and making it more difficult for Americans such as those featured here to ensure their own safety. Former Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell: ‘The Clock Didn’t Stop on Monday’
Posted: 16 Dec 2020 08:59 PM PST
by Melanie Arter: The clock didn’t stop on Monday” when the Electoral College voted on who won the presidential election, former Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell said Wednesday. “Traditionally, the Electoral College results happens to be the point by which we have started to refer to the winner as the president-elect but technically, Joe Biden is not the president-elect, because seven states are sending competing slates of electors to the Congress via the archivist,” Blackwell told Fox Business’s “Mornings with Maria Bartiromo.” “We already know that there will be one senator and one member of the House that will challenge these slates coming from the electoral college. That means that that has to be vetted out. That means that the clock didn’t stop on Monday of this week. The clock is still running. A shorter runway, the time is running out, but there’s still time on the clock to really push this through,” he said. Blackwell, a Trump elector,” pointed out that “there were massive irregularities.” “There were massive violations of the Constitution. The Constitution in Article 2 gives state legislatures the authority to set the schedules and the rules by which elections are conducted. Whether you’re talking Wisconsin or Pennsylvania, there were transgressions against the rules,” the former secretary of state said. “There were procedures made by the secretaries of state, for instance, in Pennsylvania, where it went against the rules and schedules established by the legislature. So they are within their right to challenge the counts in those states, because clearly there were illegal ballots that were counted. “Again, I’ll stay focused on Wisconsin. There were 220,000 ballots that were illegally cast, and Trump’s — or Biden’s margin was 20,000 in Wisconsin. If in fact the state legislature says that 220 (thousand) ballots were illegally cast, that changes Wisconsin,” Blackwell said. “And so, one, the campaign is within its right to pursue this, and I think it’s somewhat almost laughable that a party and the left, the Democrats’ Party and the left, for four and-a-half years have questioned the legitimacy of this president, and now that he is staying within the four corners of the rule of law, challenging the count, it’s ridiculous,” he said. “He must do this, and let me just close by saying this. It’s important that he does it because on January the 5th we cannot afford to have the same dog bite us again, and that’s why we have to really put a spotlight on these transgressions, irregularities,” Blackwell said. “It is if Donald Trump had long coat tails but no coat, and that reminds me of Alice in Alice in Wonderland, when she said things are getting curiouser and curiouser,” he added. A Republican Never Trump Postmortem
Posted: 16 Dec 2020 08:41 PM PST How history will view these self-proclaimed conservatives and protectors of principle.
by Bruce Thornton: Of all the bizarrerie over the last four years, the Republican NeverTrump (RNT) phenomenon is the strangest. Pundits, commentators, and writers who self-identified as Republican and conservative did not see Donald Trump’s historic upset victory as a cause for celebration. Instead, they saw it as a disaster to be mourned and attacked with more vitriol than they ever expended on Barack Obama, not just one of the most progressive presidents ever elected, but a failure both at home and abroad. Many factors explain this mystery, but one stands out: the revelation that there is indeed a bipartisan political guild that cares more about maintaining its own power, prestige, and perks than instituting policies that keep America safe, prosperous, and free. It’s understandable that many establishment Republicans would be put off by Trump. He didn’t come from the world of government, universities, and think-tanks, which is unaccountable to the market and so can fail forever. He owned businesses where concrete results are more important than abstract theorizing or rhetorical cleverness. A world where common sense and practical wisdom are more useful than institutional “paradigms,” “grand narratives,” and received wisdom. It galled the intellectual clerisy to think that such a boor and Philistine could achieve the highest office in the most powerful nation in human history. But once the primaries were over and Trump had won the nomination, these complaints over style and personality were beside the point, and reflected distaste for one particular kind of American identity shared by a critical mass of the over 60 million voters who put him in office. More important was one simple fact: Trump’s victory meant that Hillary Clinton, a deep-swamp creature likely to continue the disastrous polices of Barack Obama––a tax-and-spend, hyper-regulatory, civil society-intruding degradation of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights––would leave our political stage, taking her unpleasant personality, sordid ambition, mediocre achievements, and history of felonious behavior with her.In other words, the RNT should have focused on the policies Trump had promised: revving up the economy with tax breaks and deregulation; regaining control over our porous southern border and the unvetted multitudes living here illegally; fighting back against the illiberal, anti-Constitutional regime of political correctness; restoring the rights of religious belief and practice in the public square; appointing federal judges who honor the Constitution; and restoring U.S. sovereignty by abandoning feckless multinational agreements that served the interests of both our ungrateful allies and autocratic rivals. In short, Trump realized many of the policy aims that conservatives have been wanting to achieve for decades, aims that a Clinton presidency would have never worked for.For truly principled conservatives, then, the RNT should have monitored Trump’s actions in office to keep him faithful to these promises and make these aspirations real. Which he did. But no number of successes could overcome their visceral hatred of the upstart who mocked and ignored them and their supposed superior wisdom and specious moral preening, using tweets that bypassed the media filters usually serving progressive interests.Indeed, starting before he was elected, many RNT wrote diatribes against him, mostly based on style and demeanor and violations of “democratic norms.” Many openly endorsed Hillary Clinton, preferring a seasoned political hack and progressive grifter just because she had the right credentials, and was fluent in the globalist patter of the ruling elite that had misruled the country for decades. They even seemed embarrassed by the vocal and visual “vulgar” patriotism on display at Trump’s rallies with their plethora of pickup trucks and seas of MAGA hats. Some spoke darkly of attacks on democracy and inclinations to fascism––“This is how fascism comes to America,” Robert Kagan shrilled about Trump in the Washington Post. And don’t forget, Trump’s conservative program to roll back Obama’s “fundamental transformation” of America and restore the Constitutional order was opposed by most of the country’s elite institutions, especially the media, but also many of the entertainment and corporate businesses. Worse, the FBI, CIA, and DOJ were corrupted into peddling the “Russian collusion” hoax for over half his first term. How unseemly, then, is it for self-proclaimed conservatives and protectors of principle to pile on a president trying to restore the nation to its foundational principles while he’s facing incessant calumny from the media, and battling against the most powerful federal agencies armed with the ability to surveil, wire-tap, subpoena, and bully? Indeed, so stricken with Trump Derangement Syndrome were some RNT that they turned to leftist plutocrats to fund websites and outfits for continuing their assaults on the president. One fails to see what’s so “principled” about such behavior, or how it displays respect for their “democratic norms.” But the RNT unwittingly performed for we the people a great service. They exposed the truth about our ruling class––that it comprises a bipartisan guild made up in the main of people from the same socio-economic class that shares the assumptions of technocratic rule by credentialed “experts,” as well as the politically correct book of manners that demonizes conservatives with question-begging epithets like “racist” or “xenophobic” or “Islamophobic.” These breaches of decorum are like wearing white after Labor Day. They typify the vulgar masses who don’t “believe in science” and so question global grifts and boondoggles like anthropogenic, catastrophic global warming, our age’s equivalent of the “scientific racism” and eugenics of the early 20th century. They too were called “settled science” that only the uneducated, superstitious plebeians questioned. Most important, this bipartisan guild believes in the “rules-based international order,” the congeries of multinational institutions whose rules and regulations should limit and hinder our own national sovereignty, which feeds a dangerous “nationalism” sure to mutate into fascism. And they endorse the narrative of “moralizing internationalism,” the century-old, dubious belief that all peoples across the planet want to be Westerners and enjoy our goods like prosperity, peace, human rights, religious tolerance, sex equality, free speech, and all the other cargo of the Western way. These are the stale ideas that created the “endless wars” in the Middle East that Trump decried and began to end, even as he brokered normalization of relations between Israel and several Muslim states. And he did it by ignoring one of the foreign policy guild’s most cherished narratives: only a Palestinian Arab state, created at Israel’s expense and a threat to her security, could resolve that long bloody crisis––another reason for the RNT, foreign policy and national security division, to hate the president so intensely. Of course, Trump’s seeming failure to get reelected has no doubt excited the RNT. Now Joe Biden, if elected by the Electoral College, will be running the government according to the decrepit protocols of the traditional postwar ruling class. That Biden will have won likely with the help of widespread electoral fraud won’t matter, any more than the degradation of journalistic professional standards, or the debasement of the FBI and DOJ, bothered the RNT. Their anger, bitterness, and outrage will be assuaged, and they can return to being the Dem’s “good” Republicans, the ones who will sacrifice conservative interests and principles to progressive ones. If you think that’s an exaggeration, consider this tweet from Steve Schmidt to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the radical New York Congressman. Schmidt is a high-profile RNT who heads the RNT Lincoln Project. Seeking a partnership with AOC to delegitimize the “other side,” Trump supporters smeared as “white supremacists,” Schmidt tweeted, as reported in PJMedia: “I have an idea. Let’s approach each other and our points of view with good faith. We say the following with respect and seriousness Ma’am. Our hand is open and we need to work together or we are going to lose America,” Schmidt wrote. “We will not yield and we will never break. We are the side opposed to autocracy.” Schmidt described Never Trumpers and AOC as “the left and right flanks of a broad coalition. Should we buckle, they will win. We must not. We are together. We pledge to listen. We pledge to learn. We pledge to be open to your ideas and we pledge to compromise. We have no such offer for the other side.” The Never Trumper went on to praise AOC in the highest of terms. “We all admire your co[n]viction , Integrity and guts. We say the following with respect. Maybe it is the case that we are stronger together. I wish you a merry Christmas and all of your supporters a happy holiday season. We admire your conviction. You are a living example of democracy and the importance of faith and belief in the system,” he wrote. Here we have the classic Republican “preemptive cringe” on steroids, the self-abasement before a hard-core radical who wants to destroy everything conservatives hold dear. And this is what passes for “principles” and “norms” for RNT? It bespeaks the naiveté of Senator William Borah when war broke out in September 1939: “Lord, if only I could have talked with Hitler, all this might have been avoided.” The RNT still don’t get that the progressives do not want to “reach across the aisle” or honor “democratic norms.” They want to prevail by any means possible, and transform this country from a politically free republic into a socialist technocracy in which the only approved “freedoms” will be those of the appetites. If Biden prevails, and the Republicans don’t win at least one of the Georgia Senate seats, we will have moved closer to that outcome. And if we do, the Republican NeverTrumpers will go down in history as the collaborators who helped that disaster come to pass. Trump’s Legacy: Blacks, Hispanics, and Blue-Collar Workers
Posted: 16 Dec 2020 08:16 PM PST by Nate Jackson: The president’s performance wasn’t historic, but it was an improvement. One of President Donald Trump’s many achievements is the way he shifted the demographics of the country’s electorate with his unique appeal. There are three key demographics that, for the last half-century or so, have been particularly tough for Republicans: blacks, Hispanics, and blue-collar workers. Trump made inroads with all three groups for a lot of overlapping reasons. And he gained among minorities while being slandered as a “racist” almost daily by the mainstream media. In many ways, this shift IS the Trump legacy. Caveat: Ballot harvesting and bulk-mail balloting skewed a lot of things in the 2020 election, so, as always, keep that in mind with any discussion of results. Call us crazy, but it’s almost like the color of someone’s skin or the amount of money they earn doesn’t automatically determine their political interests. In fact, most humans simply want jobs to provide for their families, economic security, and a culture and country they feel they belong in. Democrats win votes by dividing people along those lines and fomenting hate. Trump won them by bringing voters into the big tent. He continuously spoke to blacks, Latinos, and blue-collar workers in kitchen-table terms. For blacks, Trump had the guts to ask for their votes in 2016, essentially asking, What do you have to lose? He continued to court the black vote in 2020. And why not? What president in recent memory had actually done more for blacks? Trump advocated school choice (which Democrats and their teacher-union backers hate) and increased funding for historically black colleges and universities. He pushed through significant criminal justice reform, which in large part undid the over-incarceration effects of legislation written by the 1990s version of Senator Joe Biden. President Trump advocated economic-empowerment zones and the “Platinum Plan,” which were just part of the policy agenda specifically designed to increase black employment. Prior to the pandemic, Trump’s presidency saw the lowest black unemployment on record. That resulted in winning the votes of 9% of black women and 19% of black men — 12% overall, and a big improvement from his 8% showing in 2016. To put it in perspective, however, that’s not a historic achievement. While Trump did improve upon his own showing four years ago and upon that of Mitt Romney and John McCain (who ran against an incredibly popular black man), he only matched Bob Dole in 1996 (12%) and he fell short of the black vote (as a percentage) won by Ronald Reagan (14% in 1980), Gerald Ford (17% in 1976), and Richard Nixon (15% in 1968). Hispanics have not been nearly as one-sided for Democrats as blacks, but Republicans still struggle to reach Latinos. Surely the “racist” wall-builder Trump, who “wants to keep out all the Mexicans,” wouldn’t gain among Hispanics, would he? Yes, he would. Heck, Trump even carried Zapata County, Texas, which is on the Mexican border and may be the most heavily Hispanic county in the nation. As it turns out, being Hispanic doesn’t mean automatically and unthinkingly demanding open borders, as Democrats now seem to think. It also doesn’t mean you’re automatically a ward of the state, as Democrats seem to think. Hispanics have families and want jobs to provide for them. The ones who went to the trouble of emigrating legally (or who have been here for generations) don’t want to compete for those jobs with low-wage illegals, regardless of their nation of origin. They have that in common with blacks. Our Louis DeBroux wrote in January, “By assuming Hispanics will always vote Democrat and are driven primarily by immigration, Democrats are making little effort to understand the other issues that are important to Hispanic voters. Those include good jobs, a decent education for their children, the rising cost of college, affordable housing for their families, etc.” A lot of Hispanics from nations like Cuba or Venezuela are terrified of Democrat socialism. They’ve seen it before, and it’s why they fled their home countries. You don’t board a makeshift raft and cross an ocean only to vote for the same policies you fled. Trump’s pitch was simple: He was far preferable to the alternative. “Joe Biden has spent 47 years betraying the Hispanic American community totally,” he said, “sending their jobs to China, raising taxes on their families and small businesses, making their communities less safe, attacking their values, and trapping their children in failing government schools.” Trump worked to do the opposite of every one of those things, and an increasing number of Hispanics rewarded him with their votes — 47% of Hispanics in Texas went for Trump, for example, and according to Bloomberg, “he took 61% of Miami-Dade’s 482 majority-Latino precincts, up from 26% of them in 2016.” Nationwide, Trump won 32% of the Latino vote, up from 28% in 2016. That’s not the best ever for a Republican, as Ronald Reagan won 37% and 34%, respectively, and George W. Bush netted 35% and 34%, respectively. But, again, Trump saw improvement over recent Republican presidential performance. Non-whites overall? Trump got 26% of their votes. Only George W. Bush outperformed that in 2004 with 28%. Interestingly, however, according to Breitbart, Trump lost ground with whites: “President Donald Trump won 64 percent of white people who did not graduate from college in the 2020 election — which is down from his 70 percent share of those voters in 2016.” And he lost “roughly 4.5 million votes” among the “white/college-grad” segment. Worst white supremacist president ever. Blue-collar workers of any race — the hourly workers at your local grocery store, the servers at your local restaurant, the factory workers who made your car — have traditionally voted Democrat. Beginning at least with FDR’s “New Deal,” it was Democrats who were perceived to be “for the little guy,” who pushed for higher wages and better benefits. Somewhere along the line, however, Democrats forgot that and began pushing for speech codes, race (bait) training, and gender confusion in the workplace, and then shut down the country, costing many of those workers their jobs. It was Barack Obama who called us “bitter clingers,” Hillary Clinton who dubbed us “deplorables,” and Joe Biden who derided the “chumps” voting for Trump. Leftist elitist contempt for the average American has only increased over the years, and, by golly, the average American noticed. As our Douglas Andrews aptly put it, “Democrats are now the elites, the paternalists, the Chardonnay-sippers, the theater-goers, the media darlings, the foundation favorites, the advanced-degree types, and the party preferred by Wall Street. Republicans, on the other hand, have welcomed in the workers, the grinders, the hog butchers, the middle-managers, the guys and gals in the field and on the shop floor. The Republican Party is diverse, but the common thread is Patriotism. We love our country, and we don’t apologize for it.” Lisa Lerer of The New York Times looked at blue-collar workers and found some “striking” results: “Of the 265 counties most dominated by blue-collar workers — areas where at least 40 percent of employed adults have jobs in construction, the service industry or other nonprofessional fields — Mr. Biden won just 15.” In other words, Scranton Joe underperformed among this cohort, and if he can’t win among these voters, what Democrat can? Indeed, Donald Trump, the blue-collar billionaire, set about to get government out of our way by lowering taxes and reducing regulation. He battled the media over its gross bias, effectively revealing their tarnished reputation forever with the “fake news” moniker. He challenged the condescension from coastal elites and put a stop to divisive swamp-think like Critical Race Theory training in federal agencies. He undid bathroom mandates and rejected speech codes. In other words, he fought the same culture battles your average, er, Joe is out there fighting in the heartland. As George Hawley and Richard Hanania write at National Review, “Cultural concerns, not economic interests or policy preferences, were the real dividing line in 2016, and remain so today.” To sum it all up, what Trump accomplished was to significantly broaden the base of the GOP. If other Republicans can learn the right lessons from that, even Trump’s loss will provide a template for future victories. Arkansas Ranked the Most Pro-Life State in America
Posted: 16 Dec 2020 07:42 PM PST ARRA News Service: On Wednesday Americans United for Life announced that Arkansas is the most pro-life state in America. The pro-life organization ranks each state based on state laws protecting the unborn, the elderly, the disabled, and the terminally ill. Family Council President Jerry Cox released a statement saying, “This is incredible news. Arkansans should be proud to live in a state that has the best laws in the nation when it comes to protecting innocent human life. That’s something to be proud of.” Cox said that making Arkansas the most pro-life state in America has taken years of work by many different people. “Ten years ago Family Council joined with others in setting out to make Arkansas the most pro-life state in America. By working together, we have done that. Becoming the most pro-life state in America didn’t happen overnight. This was the result of decades of hard work. Arkansas Right to Life has been fighting abortion for over forty years, and Family Council has been at it for more than thirty years. Arkansas’ General Assembly has passed more than thirty good, pro-life bills since 2011. Governor Hutchinson has signed into law every pro-life bill that came across his desk. Attorney General Rutledge has defended these good laws in court. Ministers, churches, everyday Arkansans, and many others all have worked very hard to make Arkansas a pro-life state.” Cox pointed out that abortion has declined significantly in Arkansas, and most Arkansans do not support abortion on demand. “Being number one is great, but it matters more that abortion is declining. Arkansas’ abortion rate has been cut in half since the year 2000. The total number of abortions performed in Arkansas has plummeted in the past thirty years. Teen abortion in Arkansas sits at record lows today. Public opinion polling shows the vast majority of Arkansans believe abortion ought to be either completely illegal or legal only in certain circumstances. More than thirty pregnancy resource centers around the state help women and girls with unplanned pregnancies. When it’s all said and done, Arkansans are incredibly pro-life.” Cox said being the most pro-life state in the country makes Arkansas a leader in the effort to end abortion. “As a pro-life leader, Arkansas can’t stand still. Our lawmakers have the opportunity to enact legislation that will let the federal courts dismantle Roe v. Wade and other pro-abortion decisions. Over the next year, Arkansans could play a major role in ending abortion in America.” Cox said even though Arkansas is the most pro-life state in the country, pro-life efforts are far from over. “Being the most pro-life state in America is something Arkansans can be proud of. It shows how far Arkansas has come. But there is still a lot of work to do. The ultimate goal is to end abortion and protect every unborn child. We look forward to continuing to defend the sanctity of human life and working to end abortion in Arkansas.” Tags: Arkansas, ranked, most pro-life, in America To share or post to your site, click on “Post Link”. Mitch, Mitt And Never-Trumpers Have It All Wrong: Trump Should Fight On, Not ‘Move On’
Posted: 16 Dec 2020 07:07 PM PST by I & I Editorial Board: Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell created a stir by calling Joe Biden “president-elect” following Monday’s Electoral College vote. Meanwhile, senator and former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney urged President Donald Trump to “move on.” Sorry, but there are still serious issues of fraud related to this election. To abandon the quest for the truth would be a disservice to the American people. Of course, it’s understandable that people are tired of arguing whether a national election was fraudulent or not. We’d only note that the modern use of voting machines and vote-by-mail that make election fraud far easier is largely a “progressive” project, created to make voting less secure and less transparent, not more. Even so, and apart from the crucial upcoming U.S. Senate runoff election in Georgia, there’s good reason not to listen to either McConnell or Romney or, for that matter, any of the many “Never-Trumpers” in the GOP who seem eager, anxious even, to get rid of Trump. They want him to fold his tent and walk away. We can only guess why. But what’s most important now is that we determine the scale and scope of the electoral fraud and whether it truly handed the election to Biden. If so, Trump becomes president. And, in truth, no matter what the Electoral College said on Monday, if massive fraud is in evidence in the states, the election results cannot stand. And there’s plenty of evidence of that tumbling out by the day. By now we’ve all heard the stories of vote counts being suspended in the middle of the night, with Trump having a massive lead, only to be continued in the early morning with a shocking and statistically near-impossible number of votes being dumped into the hopper for Biden. We’ve also heard of strange glitches in the Dominion voting computers that, mysteriously, changed Trump votes to Biden votes. We’ve all heard too of the back-room counting by local election officials, illegally excluding Republican poll observers from making sure the count was fair. And of the coincidence that Biden won suspiciously and improbably large majorities in major cities in four vital swing states — Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Georgia — that were key to a Trump electoral victory. But this week, even more evidence of fraud has come to light, calling the 2020 election further into question. The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled on Monday that the state’s absentee ballot distribution violated state law and that “Gov. Tony Evers and other state and municipal officers did not have the legal authority to expand the definition of ‘indefinitely confined’ citizens to permit absentee voting without showing a state ID.” A Michigan judge ordered the release of a “damning forensics report” on the Dominion Vote Tabulation System, which was used in Antrim County. The shocking report comes to a frightening determination: “We conclude that the Dominion Voting System is intentionally and purposefully designed with inherent errors to create systemic fraud and influence election results.” (Italics ours.) But, you say, it’s just one little county in one state. No. In fact, according to the Wikipedia entry on Dominion, “In total, 28 states used Dominion voting machines to tabulate their votes during the 2020 United States presidential election, including most of the swing states.” How many of those machines were reprogrammed or repurposed to “create systemic fraud and influence election results”? But if Monday was the official certification of the Electoral College vote, isn’t it all moot? Not at all. Trump adviser Stephen Miller told Fox News’ Fox & Friends Monday that contested states, including Michigan, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, and possibly Arizona and Nevada, will send “alternate” slates of Trump electors to Congress, which meets on Jan. 6 to count the electoral votes and declare a presidential winner. Should the Trump campaign and its attorneys prevail in their legal actions alleging election fraud in the contested states, Congress would have the ability if not the obligation to certify the Trump electors. “The only date in the Constitution is Jan. 20,” Miller told Fox. “We have more than enough time to right the wrong of this fraudulent election result and certify Donald Trump as the winner of the election.” If all this maneuvering seems futile, it isn’t. The Democrats have a long tradition of election shenanigans. They spent Trump’s four years illegally undermining his presidency through Deep State allies and even impeaching him earlier this year on entirely false charges. With the Durham investigation into possible misconduct still ongoing, we may yet see indictments for the illegal behavior, of which Biden as vice president was aware. And we may also find out the full scope of Hunter Biden’s profiteering in China, Russia and Ukraine from exploiting his father’s position in the Obama White House. Influence peddling is a crime, you know. Moreover, while Democrats have recently called for “unity,” that’s something they never offered Trump after his stunning upset of Hillary Clinton in 2016. Instead, Democrats right now are creating “enemies lists” of Trump supporters and aides for retribution after Biden takes office. In his speech Monday following the Electoral College vote, Biden had a chance to be magnanimous in his apparent victory. Instead, he excoriated and insulted both Trump and those who voted for him. Calls for “unity” ring hollow. So Mitch and Mitt are wrong: Trump and the GOP have no choice but to fight on. Either they challenge the increasing lawlessness of the far-left Democrats, who value their power over our freedom, or let the U.S. become a one-party progressive-socialist state with rigged presidential elections every four years. And the time to fight is now, not later. This isn’t just about fixed elections or even about Trump. It’s about the future of our republic. If we lose that, we’ve lost everything. Mainstream Disinformation
Posted: 16 Dec 2020 06:39 PM PST by Paul Jacob: “A historic crime and disgrace.” That is how left-leaning journalist Glenn Greenwald characterizes U.S. media coverage of the 2020 presidential race. Back in October, he resigned from The Intercept, a publication he co-founded with the aim of providing “fearless, adversarial journalism that holds the powerful accountable.” Its editors, you see, refused to publish his writing unless he removed “all sections critical of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.” When the New York Post, the nation’s fourth largest newspaper, reported on emails from a laptop belonging to his son, Hunter Biden, Facebook and Twitter quickly blocked folks from sharing the news. Arguing the story was “hacked,” Twitter shut down the Post’s account for the critical final weeks of the campaign.* “We will not waste our time,” declared National Public Radio, on “stories that are just pure distractions.” Now, with Hunter acknowledging the FBI criminal investigation of the family business, the state-media outlet’s Distraction Meter appears out of whack. But there’s more. “[A]s soon as these [Hunter Biden] documents became known,” Greenwald told Fox News’s Tucker Carlson, “the operatives in the intelligence community, the CIA, [former CIA Director] John Brennan, [former Director of National Intelligence] James Clapper, [former NSA Director] Michael Hayden — all of the standard professional liars — issued a letter claiming that this material was the hallmark of Russian disinformation, even though they had no basis for thinking that.”** This, he points out, “gave the media permission to lie to the public continuously” by enthusiastically repeating the baseless claim. Most ominously, there was again “domestic interference on the part of intelligence agencies in order to manipulate the outcome of our election,” Greenwald explains. The election is over. Our national nightmare is not. This is Common Sense. I’m Paul Jacob. * There were two huge problems with Twitter’s excuse: (a) the Post’s revelations were not from a hack, and (b) stories are continually written from information hacked and unlawfully leaked to the media — and then shared widely on Facebook and Twitter without any impediment. ** Greenwald is best known for breaking the story of Edward Snowden’s leak of classified information showing unconstitutional NSA spying on Americans, while working for the UK Guardian. Mr. Snowden claimed his “breaking point” in deciding to release the information “was seeing the Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, directly lie under oath to Congress.” Tags: Mainstream Disinformation, Paul Jacob, Common SenseTo share or post to your site, click on “Post Link”. Burned BLM Banners Outrages The Left
Posted: 16 Dec 2020 06:20 PM PST by Bill Donohue: The media and left-wing activists never expressed anger when Catholic churches and iconic Catholic statues were being vandalized and destroyed by Antifa and Black Lives Matter, but now—all of a sudden—they are up in arms over BLM banners being burned outside black churches in Washington D.C. Their selective outrage is stunning. On December 15, the Associated Press (AP) ran a big piece on the BLM banners. It claimed that black churches were vandalized. They were not. It was BLM banners displayed outside the churches that were burned: The churches themselves were not damaged in any way. By contrast, to cite one example, last spring BLM supporters spray-painted obscenities on the exterior wall of New York’s St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Yet there was no comparable outcry from those upset about BLM banners being burned. To its credit, AP proved to be the most fair of any media outlet. It not only covered the BLM banners that were vandalized, it covered the several instances this year when statues of St. Junípero Serra were toppled by left-wing activists. Unfortunately, it was an anomaly among the big media. The New York Times and the Washington Post covered the BLM incident but had no news story on the multiple Serra incidents. The burning of BLM banners was cited by CBS, CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and PBS. Only CBS mentioned the destruction of statues of St. Serra. Moreover, the attack on this heroic priest extended over several months in many cities; it was not just one weekend of violence. It is not just the smashing of statues of St. Serra that Catholics have endured this year. In June, the Catholic Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis was set on fire. Catholic churches near the University of Mississippi were vandalized. The Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Denver was trashed. Windows were smashed in Dallas at St. Jude Chapel and at the Cathedral of the Assumption in Louisville. Swastikas and anti-Catholic scribbling was found on the graves of several Dominican friars on the campus of Providence College. In July, a statue of Our Blessed Mother was set on fire in Boston and another statue of the Virgin Mary was vandalized in Queens. In Ocala, Florida, a man crashed his minivan into a Catholic church while parishioners gathered for Mass; he then poured gasoline in the church’s foyer and set the church ablaze. San Gabriel Mission Church in Los Angeles County was set on fire, destroying parts of the 249-year-old iconic structure. Vandals were charged with a hate crime after they partially disfigured Mission San Jose, a church in Fremont, California. Also in July, Sacred Heart Catholic school in Gallup, New Mexico was broken into and a statue of Jesus was vandalized. A statue of Jesus was beheaded at Good Shepherd Catholic church in South Florida. “Satanic” and “anarchist” symbols were found on the church door at St. Joseph’s Church in New Haven. In August, Bibles were burned in Portland. In a sane world, we could all agree that vandalism of any kind is morally wrong. But we don’t live in such a world. Nikole Hannah-Jones, the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist responsible for the New York Times’ historically flawed “1619 Project,” says, “Destroying property, which can be replaced, is not violence.” David Remnick of the New Yorker is a big fan of BLM. He quotes, with relish, a co-founder of the racist organization. “We don’t have time to finger-wag at protesters about property. That can be rebuilt.” So could his house if someone torched it. Two left-wing geniuses, Robin D.G. Kelley, an historian at UCLA, and R.H. Lossin, whose Ph.D. in Communications is from Columbia, both wrote lengthy defenses this past June about the violent Antifa and BLM mobs. Kelley wrote in the New York Times that because “we are in the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, looting should not surprise anyone.” But the looters stole toasters, not bread. They also helped themselves to pricey sneakers and jewelry, neither of which is edible. No matter, he chided the public for “obsessing over looting.” Lossin wrote her screed in the pages of the Nation, a Stalinist media outlet. “Property destruction is not synonymous with the violence that is being protested,” she opines. “Plateglass windows don’t bleed.” Neither does her laptop. But it’s a sure bet she would object if a sledgehammer were taken to it. She is also no fan of non-violence. “The notion that nonviolence is tactically more effective…has not only been proven wrong over the past week by sheer numbers; it cannot be historically supported.” It would be hard to find a single professor of a conservative bent (thanks to the “tolerant-minded” professoriate, there aren’t too many of them) who would belittle property crimes and denounce peaceful protests. Such sages are only found on the Left. Forgive me if I can’t get too exercised about BLM banners being set on fire. Antifa and BLM burn the American flag, churches, Catholic schools, and cop cars. The media and left-wing activists have no moral ground to stand on when they bash those of us who object to the latter while they go bonkers over the former. Facebook Bans Boost to Trump Christmas Card! Humbug!
Posted: 16 Dec 2020 05:53 PM PST by Robert Romano: Facebook should definitely get a lump of coal in their stockings this year. The social media giant, still enforcing its nonsensical restrictions on political advertising in the post-election environment, won’t even let Americans for Limited Government boost a post telling Americans to wish President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump a Merry Christmas. Humbug! We even tried to boost a post sending one to Joe Biden as an experiment, stating nothing more than urging readers to “Wish former Vice President Joe Biden a Merry Christmas,” but still nothing. It was rejected, too. Here, Facebook is still deciding to lose tens of millions of dollars by not running political ads, but it won’t even let organizations during Christmas tell folks to send holiday greetings to public figures like Trump or Biden. Within a minute, the ads were rejected by the faceless Facebook algorithm. Here’s what the apparently offensive post said: “Spread some Christmas cheer! Please wish the First Family a very Merry Christmas! ✨🎄 As we reflect on 2020, we are grateful for President Trump’s phenomenal leadership of our nation, which brought peace to places that never dreamed it possible and hope to Americans who had been left behind. Let them know how you feel now!” Here’s what the apparently offensive post said: “Spread some Christmas cheer! Please wish the First Family a very Merry Christmas! ✨ As we reflect on 2020, we are grateful for President Trump’s phenomenal leadership of our nation, which brought peace to places that never dreamed it possible and hope to Americans who had been left behind. Let them know how you feel now!” Spread some Christmas cheer! Please wish the First Family a very Merry Christmas! Let them know how you feel now! Posted by Americans for Limited Government on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 In other words, peace unto this Earth and good will toward man. That’s just a nice note to the First Family that at this time of year makes everyone involved feel good. But not Facebook, where even the mundane is political and must have doubt cast upon it. Apparently even non-political things that are kind gestures during the Christmas season are simply the American, right thing to do, are now necessarily “political” if they involve public officials. But it is not direct advocacy of the election or defeat of any candidate, or even specific support for public policy other than world peace. Not that they’re stopping us from wishing the President Merry Christmas, but taken to its extreme, these social media companies are regulating what amounts to religious sentiment, in the context of political discourse. And that is definitely not in the Christmas spirit. In the meantime, Google lifted its own ban on post-election political ads a week ago as investors began asking questions about the Georgia runoffs for the two remaining seats in the U.S. Senate in January and why the premiere ad companies in the country are leaving so much money on the table when each party combined might spending more than $1 billion. We’ve also bought many ads on Parler, the new alternative to Facebook and Twitter, where Americans for Limited Government has already found more than 50,000 new subscribers in a very short amount of time. If Facebook wants to cede the ad market to their competitors, they are by all means welcome to abandon their market share. But it’s not in their interest, and it’s certainly not in the public interest, and these rules that apparently even ban even Christmas well wishes to Trump and Biden on the grounds they are somehow political are nothing more than a humbug. AOC, Omar, and Squad Want to Free 500,000 Fat Criminals
Posted: 16 Dec 2020 04:01 PM PST by Daniel Greenfield: Obese rapists, insane serial killers, and child molesters over 55 years old could be on the loose in your neighbrohood if the Squad’s latest social justice bill becomes law. The bill to free all the fat criminals, sponsored by Rep. Tlaib, Rep. Lee, and Rep. Pressley, and co-sponsored by Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Omar, and eight other Democrats, and endorsed by Black Lives Matter, calls for a mass jailbreak to protect criminals from the coronavirus. The existing wave of coronavirus criminal releases already helped boost crime rates in major cities with double digit increases in homicides. Robberies have shot up like a rocket with criminals stealing cars and looting businesses while knowing they won’t be jailed. But that’s not enough for the Squad. They want to free all the criminals. Especially the fat ones. The Dismantle Mass Incarceration for Public Health Act, introduced by Rep Tlaib, would “require States and units of local government to certify a commitment to release certain individuals from jails and prisons” and their list includes anyone who’s over 55 years old, unhealthy, or obese. Or as the bill puts it, has been “diagnosed with obesity”. According to the Department of Health and Human Services, anyone with a body mass index (BMI) of 30.0 qualifies as obese. That means a 5’6 rapist who weighs 187 pounds, a 5’8 mugger who clocks in at 200 pounds, or one of those fabled 6’0 and 225 pound gentle giants specializing in home invasions would all be considered obese and in need of immediate release. The official obese ranking doesn’t actually mean fat. The criminals that Tlaib, AOC, Omar, Lee, and Pressley want to unleash on communities already swimming in a wave of horrifying crimes are above a recommended healthy height to weight ratio. But maybe a good exercise regimen of muggings, carjackings, and sexual assaults will get them back to their fighting weight. How many criminals would this actually set loose? DOJ statistics show that about half of federal and state inmates have some sort of chronic condition: 15% have asthma, 10% have heart problems, and 9% have diabetes. All of these conditions are on the Squad’s jailbreak bill’s release list. With over 2 million prison inmates, if these statistics hold up, between 200,000 to 680,000 criminals could be set loose. But wait. The majority of prisoners, 74%, were overweight, obese, or morbidly obese. Over a quarter hit the obese BMI numbers. That would mean freeing at least half a million fat criminals. In addition to freeing fat criminals, Squad members also want to free “seniors”. And by “seniors” they mean any criminal who has at least reached the tender age of 55 years old. The unabomber, the BTK killer, and the Son of Sam, all of whom are still in prison today, and over the age of 55, would qualify. Sadly Charles Manson, Ted Bundy, and Jeffrey Dahmer are no longer alive to take advantage of Tlaib, AOC, and Pressley’s generous offer to free them all. Even those serial killers who aren’t over 55 could take advantage of the mentally ill clause. Fat rapists and pedophiles in their fifties are supposedly more at risk from the virus, but why are depressed muggers, anxious con artists, and schizophrenic serial killers more at risk? This isn’t about saving criminals from an imaginary threat. Socialists like freeing criminals. Stealing private property and terrorizing the public is just socialism by another name. In addition to freeing all fat criminals, any criminal over the age of 55, and crazy criminals, the Tlaib, Pressley, and Lee bill would also free any criminals who have moderate asthma or diabetes, or can be considered diabled. Since the disabled category covers everything from back injuries to depression to irritable bowel syndrome to dermatitis, that’s a free pass. Some 30% of criminals in federal and state prisons reported hypertension. That alone would release 600,000 criminals from prison. At this rate a criminal would have to work not to be freed. The Squad bill also provides for freeing any criminal whom a review board determines is “unlikely to pose a substantial risk of causing bodily injury or using violent force against another individual”. That would cover any inmates who weren’t convicted of physical assault. And that would free all the thieves, robbers, drug dealers, and looters. Countless criminals have already been freed under this category to protect them from the virus leading to plenty of violent assaults even though the criminals were said to be low risk. Not to mention massive amounts of robberies, car thefts, and the wave of Black Lives Matter looting. Even the most modest estimates of the criminal population released would be a million. The Dismantle Mass Incarceration for Public Health Act would also free all illegal aliens being held on an ICE detainer because not all criminals can be considered free until the violent illegal aliens being held for deportation are also released to rob, beat, and kill Americans. How long would AOC, Omar, and Tlaib like the country’s criminals to be roaming the street? The bill would apply until the President declares the “end of the COVID-19 national emergency”. Americans get two national emergencies for the price of one. If the coronavirus doesn’t get you, the criminals freed by AOC, Omar, Tlaib, Lee, Pressley, and other House Democrats will. Democrats and their media have spent the duration of the pandemic shouting that prison inmates were most at risk of catching the virus and had to be freed immediately. If they had dedicated a fraction of the same effort to protecting another vulnerable institutionalized population, nursing home residents, the pandemic death toll would be a fraction of what it is. Instead, New York, California, and other states freed massive numbers of criminals to protect them from the virus, while forcing nursing homes to take in infected patients resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands of nursing home residents. The Democrats who claimed that keeping inmates locked up would be a death sentence, delivered an actual death sentence. And the Democrats are still shouting we have to save the criminals before they all die. “This pandemic should not be a death sentence for anyone,” Rep. Tlaib clamored. “This virus should not be, and doesn’t have to be, a death sentence for incarcerated individuals,” Rep. Lee whined. So far 149 federal inmates, out of 124,538 total, have died from the virus. Or as CBS News called the 100th federal prison death back in July, a “grim milestone”. The Los Angeles Times breathlessly reported last month that the 79th prison inmate had died of the virus in California. As of now, the number appears to be up to 88. Another “grim milestone”. The Chicago Sun Times agonized last month that an 8th inmate had died in the Cook County jail from the virus. That’s a weekend’s worth of shootings in Chiraq by the same cast of criminals that Illinois and Cook County had dumped back on the streets to rob, rape, and kill. More people get shot in Chicago by criminals in one weekend than the total number of criminals who have died of the virus in custody. Since many of the victims are also criminals, if the Democrats were really concerned about keeping them safe, they would keep them locked up. Criminals are much less likely to die of coronavirus than of a bullet. Keep them safe behind bars. The entire prison coronavirus hoax has led to countless people being killed, raped, and robbed by a rampaging population of criminals who were set loose to keep them safe from the virus. AOC, Tlaib, Omar, and the rest of the gang want to multiply that by ten thousand times. Murder rates are already doubling in some places. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, Rep. Omar, Rep. Tlaib, and other Democrats want to see them increase a thousandfold. Even as some Democrats claim that they want to back away from pro-crime policies like police defunding, plenty of Democrats, not just the Squad, are happy to propose freeing a million criminals. And that’s not going to change until Republicans actually tell the public what’s at stake. Vaccine Documentation Will Be Important But A Hodgepodge
Posted: 16 Dec 2020 03:45 PM PST by John J. Cohrssen and Henry I. Miller: Few could have imagined a year ago that by now our world would be so profoundly changed by a pandemic that has killed more than 300,000 Americans; been confirmed in over 16 million; gone undiagnosed in scores of millions more; and caused debilitating, persisting symptoms in many who have “recovered.” Certainly, no credible drug manufacturer would have claimed that a new vaccine for this emerging infectious disease could go through all phases of drug development and reach marketing approval within the space of 11 months. Even with the first COVID-19 vaccine having been approved for emergency use by the Food and Drug Administration and being administered, challenges remain to keep track of those who have been vaccinated, and for vaccinees to verify their immunization. With the growth of individuals’ immunity to COVID-19 through vaccination, persons who have gotten the shots could receive opportunities unavailable to those who have not. A recent Sky News poll in the United Kingdom found that 54% of the population believe that it would be acceptable to limit air travel only to people who have been vaccinated; that 36% believe that public transport should be similarly limited; access to restaurants, 39%, and to cinemas, 44%. Vaccination will become mandatory under certain circumstances. Various employers could require their employees or customers to be vaccinated, and schools could require staff and students to. Qantas Airlines intends next year to require proof of vaccination for Australians traveling internationally. The airline industry more broadly is finalizing a requirement that passengers present documentation of COVID-19 vaccination. The International Air Transport Association recently announced that it is in the final stages of developing the IATA Travel Pass, a digital document to confirm vaccination or a negative coronavirus test result, in order both to make air travel safer and to encourage the public to fly. Ideally, each vaccinated person would receive a secure, unique COVID-19 “immunity passport” of some kind, but in the real world, with vaccinations about to rev up rapidly, there is no secure national, state, or other identity card available to reflect immunization status. A recent Wall Street Journal article discussed the legal issues involved in such documentation, noting that some experts “see pitfalls in creating a distinction between vaccinated and non-vaccinated individuals, as well as issues around data protection, privacy rights and forgery.” It brought up another, practical complication – “some groups who might make use of greater freedoms the most, such as young people, aren’t scheduled to be vaccinated for months.” There is no single database that could easily be adapted to reflect the immunization status of all U.S. citizens or residents. Vaccination programs are run by state governments that will be responsible for COVID-19 vaccinations in ways similar to their oversight of other immunizations. States have their own systems for tracking vaccine administration information. For COVID-19 vaccinations, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has a list of information it wants states to provide to the CDC for monitoring the program. In addition to the immunization information, it requests the recipient’s name, address, and date of birth. Some states are objecting to this identifiable information, fearing that it might be inappropriately used for immigration enforcement or other purposes. Moreover, the collection of personally identifiable information could discourage undocumented persons from seeking vaccination. Without some sort of government-authorized immunization passport or an accessible national database, the documentation of immunization will necessarily rely on what is available, which isn’t much. In the United States, by default it likely will be the vaccine record that will be given to every vaccinated person and will contain details of the vaccine received and a reminder of the date for the second dose. The United Kingdom has created a similar COVID vaccine card that includes the name of the vaccine, date(s) administered, and batch number. However, the U.K. government has said that it is not an “immunity passport,” nor are there plans for such a document. For airlines that require vaccine confirmation, reliance on the vaccine record may be relatively secure, inasmuch as a falsified record could trigger penalties for document fraud. Similar criminal charges might arise if a forged or improper vaccine record were presented for immigration purposes, while the use of a vaccine record for purposes not subject to government authority might be more susceptible to abuse. It is reasonable to expect that the need for proof of vaccination will diminish as we reach the roughly 70% vaccination penetration needed to achieve so-called “herd immunity” – the point at which the coronavirus has difficulty finding new susceptible hosts and the pandemic subsides. Meanwhile, documentation of vaccination will have to rely on the available, rather than the ideal; the honesty of those using it; and the possible penalties for those who abuse it. Tags: John J. Eulogy for My Dad, Walter Williams
Posted: 16 Dec 2020 02:59 PM PST by Devon Williams: In the late 1980s, when telemarketing was at it is peak, a company called our home during dinner. I picked up the phone and handed it to my dad. This is what we heard him say: “I’m not interested.” “No. No, thank you.” “Well … I’m not ever going to die.” And then he hung up. My mom and I looked at each other, and then him, with looks of incredulity. He explained that it was a company selling life insurance. For a long time, I believed just that—that he was not going to die. That he would be here dropping knowledge on me, my family, and the rest of the world forever. I have always understood my father to be a teacher, a college professor. And, at the core of it, that’s what he was: a teacher. And he loved being one. So, why, in the days that followed my father’s death have things felt surreal? I’ve spoken about my dad to reporters from The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal. I’ve spoken to one of the greatest minds and prolific writers this country has to offer: Thomas Sowell. I’ve heard from Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, real estate developer Harlan Crow, and businessman Charles Koch. I’ve read hundreds of tweets, posts, and emails from his students, politicians, educators, philanthropists, authors, and reporters. You might intuit that hearing from all these people demonstrates that maybe Dr. Walter E. Williams wasn’t just a professor. That maybe, because of his profound effect on so many people, he was something more. I would argue that the essence of my father was that of an educator. In fact, many years ago, my dad told Sowell, “On the day I die, I’d like to have taught a class.” Teaching was his passion. It was his gift. It was, second only to his family, his greatest love. Some of the obituaries I have read have called my dad a giant. He was. Literally. He stood at 6 foot, 5 inches tall. My mom and I used to joke that it was always easy to find Dad in a crowd: We just needed to look up. An athlete well into his 70s, he took advantage of his stature and long limbs and played tennis and basketball, but his favorite activity was cycling. My mom would pack him snacks the night before, and he would set out for a 30- to 50-mile ride around 5 a.m. (when she and I were still sound asleep). I think that he enjoyed the time alone with his thoughts and his bike. Often, after a ride, he would shower and get straight to work on his syndicated column or his classwork for the week—clearheaded and ready to go. Not only, however, was he physically a giant but he was an intellectual giant. In his lifetime, he wrote 10 books, hundreds of articles, book reviews, scholarly journal articles, and more than a thousand weekly columns. And, while proud of his accomplishments, with every book, he’d tell me, “I still don’t think I’ll catch up to Tom [Sowell] … he writes with both hands.” He also gave hundreds of lectures around the world—Johannesburg, Cambridge, London, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and many more nationally. Additionally, you could find him on TV and radio. He called these venues his “big classroom.” Economics is a challenging and abstract discipline that includes sophisticated analysis and calculus. But my dad had a supernatural ability to break down complex ideas and make them digestible for everyone. As a father, he was also a teacher. My dad taught me that hard work eclipses talent or natural gifts every day of the week and twice on Sunday. He taught me how to drive like a Philadelphia cabbie and how to parallel park in a space equal to the length of my vehicle. He taught me that the best time to look for a job is when you already have one and that opportunities are often masked as disappointments. He taught me that play is necessary, but that it’s more fun when your work is finished. He taught me to love my life and the people in it. He taught me to drink the wine and not to save it for a special occasion. And he taught me that family is always my safe place to land. When my dad was in Philadelphia and not with us in D.C., he would call me and ask, “How’s my baby?” I would tell him, “I’m just fine, Dad,” knowing full well that he was asking about my son. They shared a special bond, and it pains me greatly to know that they only shared six years together. We will all miss Dr. Walter Edward Williams. But I’d like to think that through his dedication to his teaching, the reach of his students, and profound effect he had on so many that, maybe, his statement to the life insurance salesman was true. Why These Senators Want John Lott Fired, Now
Posted: 16 Dec 2020 02:40 PM PST
by Frank Miniter: So, earlier this fall, John Lott accepted a position at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). Specifically, he went to work as a senior adviser for research and statistics at the Office of Justice Programs—this is a DOJ division that quietly gives out $5 billion in grants annually. Sounds like a boring job for a statistician and researcher, right? Not exactly. This DOJ division has given millions of dollars to academics—some who have a clear bias against your right to keep and bear arms. In his new role as an adviser, it is unclear whether Lott has yet been able to bring some balance to these massive grant allocations—DOJ-funded studies that, when they come out, often feed the mainstream news with “research” arguing that good, old-fashioned American freedom is not such a good thing after all. If Lott, who is well-known for digging deep into the details about gun ownership and crime rates, is able to influence how this money is allocated, he could affect the left’s ideological quest to ban and confiscate the citizenry’s guns. (If you don’t know Lott, go to the Crime Prevention Research Center’s website, a group Lott founded, and check out some of the research papers Lott has written and co-written, or take a look at his many books on the subject—the left hates Lott, as he not only tells the truth about guns in America, but he also backs his words up with data.) So, when word got out that Lott is working at the DOJ, the left demanded his job. First came the gun-control groups, which all came out with this news on the same day (November 24), all demanding Lott be fired. Then came petitions on social media that Lott be fired—these were led by the gun-control groups. Now nine U.S. Senators—including Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), Richard Durbin (D-Ill.), and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.)—have sent a letter to Attorney General William Barr demanding information on Lott’s hiring. The letter calls Lott “a pro-gun advocate who claims that widespread gun ownership can reduce crime.” This is nothing more than an ideologically motivated slur. Lott is a researcher and an academic who has taught at many universities. His peer-reviewed research has clearly shown that gun ownership tends to reduce crime. These senators want to know if Lott is a political appointee or if he is serving in a “career civil service position.” The intent of this is clear: They want to know how easy it will be to fire him, so they can thereby protect money going to anti-Second Amendment research, if Joe Biden is sworn in as president on January 20. They also want Barr to give them a list of “all individuals who held positions as political appointees since January 20, 2017, and are now employed in permanent competitive positions, non-political excepted service positions, or career Senior Executive Service (SES) positions at the Department and its components.” These senators clearly want a list from the DOJ so they can target and remove people who came in during the Trump administration. As with Lott, they want to cancel these people, too. This is nothing new for Lott. In 2017, left-wing groups publicly tried (and succeeded) to get The Hill to stop publishing Lott’s opinion articles. They also petitioned many other publications that dared to publish Lott’s research and have had considerable success in getting him shunned. Gun-control groups find Lott’s well-researched studies to be inconvenient to their desire for more gun control—inconvenient because, as the facts continually show, freedom does work. These gun-control groups can’t win debates about the data, so they are doing everything in their power to cancel Lott. As we have reported before, this has included bans by Twitter. These senators, and the anti-gun groups that support them, are not interested in a robust, First Amendment-style debate about what really makes America safer. They want control. To get control, as they can’t win fact-based discussions, they’re opting to attempt to cancel Lott, to cancel the NRA and, yes, they’ll try to cancel you too, if, that is, you get in their way. Let US all be “UNITED” Again?
Posted: 16 Dec 2020 02:11 PM PST by Norman Beznoska: Unlike your Black Lies Matter and antifart terrorist friends, WE do not believe in rioting, looting, and burning America’s cities. BUT we do refuse to “unite” with people who believe it’s fine to KILL newborns on the day they are born; who put other countries and the UN before America; and LIE-CHEAT and STEAL the Presidential Election like “China Joe” Biden, Twitter, Facebook, the News Media, and the democrats! So Caitlin and Yahoo, here is my little issue with the call, let’s all be “United” again, by China Joe Biden: For the last 4+ years, the Democrats have gone scorched earth on President Trump, the First Lady, his family and us, his “deplorable” supporters. You democrats and electronic and print national and local News media, have salted the fields and now you want to grow crops? Your problem is we have memories longer than a hamster. We remember your hate filled protests the day of/after inauguration threatening to, in Madonna’s despicable words: “I’d like to burn the White House down!” We remember 4 years of personal attacks on the President, the First Lady, his VP and cabinet……and US! We remember “not our president” and the “Resistance…” We remember being called racist and evil, homophobes, islamaphobes, etc. We remember Maxine Walters telling followers to harass and get in the face of Trump supporters in department stores and gas stations. We remember the President’s press secretary and cabinet members being chased out of restaurants. We remember hundreds of Trump supporters being physically attacked for wearing a red hat, and the several who were murdered in Milwaukee, Portland, Seattle, LA . We remember Trump supporters getting Doxed, and fired from jobs. We remember black LIES matter and antifat riots, looting, and burning our cities with impunity. We remember a deranged liberal “comedian” Kathy Griffin holding up the President’s severed head. We remember a play in Central park paid with public funding, showing the killing of President Trump. We remember has been Robert de Niro yelling “Fuck Trump” at the Tony’s and getting a standing ovation. We remember Trump being accused of being a Russian spy and the media going with it. We remember Nancy Pelosi tearing up the State of the Union Address and bragging about her $24,000 freezer filled with a hundred $14 a pint gourmet ice cream while millions of Americans stand in food bank lines…..to this day. We remember how totally in the tank the Fake News mainstream media was with the democrats in opposition and the non-stop and live fact checking on our President and his supporters. We remember non-stop in your face lies and open cover-ups from the national Fake news media. We remember the baseless, phony partisan impeachment of President Trump. We remember the President and his staff being spied on by Obama and Biden, seditionists in the FBI, CIA, and NSA. We remember Republican congressmen shot on a Virginia ball field in 2017 by a deranged democrat Sanders supporter. We remember every so-called comedy show turn into nothing but a Trump hate fest. We remember 95% negative coverage of President Trump in the news. We remember the state governors asking for and getting everything they wanted to address Covid then blaming Trump for the Red China pandemic. We remember leftists threatening prominent Republicans and their families outside their homes of prominent Republicans. We remember the attempted destruction of Brett Kavanaugh by hate filled democrat liars and lawyers. We remember democrats baying at the moon and pounding on the Supreme Court doors. We remember that we were called every filthy, vile, obscene name in the book by democrat congressmen and women, (lets impeach the MFer from the filthy mouth of one Rashida Talib), the Fake News media, and Harlotwood celebrities for supporting President Trump. We remember Twitter and Facebook censuring and blocking President Trump’s, the NY Post, and our tweets and posts like a Nazi propaganda machine. This list is endless, but even you intellectual pygmies on the left get the idea. My friends will be my friends, but the party that has been attacking President Trump, the First Lady, and us for 4 long years does not get a free pass with me. So instead, China Joe Biden, Fake News media, and Harlotwood take your “let’s be united”, and kiss our Red, White, and Blue Veterans asses for the next four years! 46.) NBC MORNING RUNDOWN
Thursday, December 17, 2020
|
Good morning, NBC News readers.
The U.S. experienced the deadliest day of the coronavirus pandemic yet on Wednesday as Congressional leaders and the White House inch closer to a deal on a relief package before the holidays. And today will be a snow day for much of the Northeast as the region faces its first big winter storm this year.
Here’s what we’re watching this Thursday morning.

France’s President Macron tests positive for Covid-19, U.S. sees deadliest day yet
French President Emmanuel Macron became the latest world leader to contract coronavirus Thursday, as countries across Europe struggle to suppress a spike in infections in the run-up to Christmas.
The news comes as the United States is battling its own surge. On Wednesday, the U.S. set new records for both the number of new Covid-19 cases and deaths.
Across the country, 232,086 new Covid-19 cases were reported, along with 3,293 deaths, according to NBC News’ count. The previous single-day records for both reported cases and reported deaths was just last week on Dec. 10.
As the pandemic rages on, Congressional leaders and the White House are getting closer to an agreement on a roughly $900 billion coronavirus relief deal that will likely include a new round of direct payments, three sources familiar with the negotiations said Wednesday.
A deal would break months of stalemate and partisan sniping, and bring fresh hope for a relief package ahead of the holidays.
Leaders of both parties sounded more hopeful Wednesday than they have in months.
“It’s not a done deal yet. But we are very close,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said.
Meantime, Vice President Mike Pence will publicly receive a Covid-19 vaccine on Friday while President-elect Joe Biden is expected to get a shot as soon as next week.
Both leaders said they are taking it publicly in order to bolster confidence in the safety and efficacy of the vaccine among the American people.
They have an uphill battle in some quarters as anti-vaccination voices grow louder.
NBC News’ Brandy Zadrozny takes a closer look at one aspect of public life that has helped amplify the anti-vaccine message: Local news.
From California to Maine, local news stations have been covering their protests and giving anti-vaccination activists a microphone to spread misinformation.

Storm blasts East Coast, dumping more snow than some saw all last winter
Large parts of the East Coast will wake up to snow from a major winter storm that dumped more than a foot in parts of Pennsylvania, led to hundreds of car crashes and is suspected in the deaths of at least three people.
More than 6 inches of snow and sleet covered New York’s Central Park at midnight, surpassing the 4.8 inches that fell all last winter, the National Weather Service said.

Black-owned small businesses have been especially hard hit during the pandemic, closing at twice the rate of white-owned businesses.
But this week on our Into America podcast, Trymaine Lee reports on a collective of small businesses in Milwaukee, called Sherman Phoenix, that’s defying the odds and not only surviving these tough times – but thriving.

Quote of the day
“This is the problem of information laundering. If you make a harmful position sound reasonable, then more people who would otherwise not be inclined to believe it, might be willing to look at it as an issue with two sides.”
— Whitney Phillips, an assistant professor of communication studies at Syracuse University, on local media giving anti-vaccination groups excessive air time.

One fun thing
When his Washington, D.C. school went remote, science teacher Jonte Lee brought his lessons to life in a unique way.
He turned his kitchen into a lab and bought supplies for his 35 students to follow along. Now his online lessons have gone viral and are reaching thousands of students across the country.
Lee, known as the “Kitchen Chemist,” is thrilled his lessons have brought some joy in the midst of the pandemic.
“That’s what teachers do. We find a way. We can make something out of nothing,” he said.

47.) NBC FIRST READ
|
From NBC’s Chuck Todd, Mark Murray, Carrie Dann and Melissa Holzberg
FIRST READ: After 9/11, a major commission studied what went wrong. It’s time to do the same for the Covid response.
After terrorists hijacked airliners, slammed them into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon and killed nearly 3,000 Americans, Congress created an independent bipartisan 9/11 Commission to definitively answer what happened – and how to prevent it from ever happening again.
Our question this morning: Is Congress going to create a 9/11-like commission to study what went wrong with the United States’ handling of the coronavirus – after more than 300,000 and counting deaths, an erosion in trust in our government and allegations of political interference and manipulation?
Nathan Congleton/NBC/NBCU Photo Bank)
The latest development here: A pair of CDC political appointees told the New York Times about how the Trump administration exerted ever-increasing influence over the agency’s message and data.
That comes after a whistleblower alleged that CDC director Robert Redfield directed staff to delete an email from a Trump political appointee that sought changes to scientific reports, as well as after the CDC and FDA bungled the United States’ initial coronavirus testing plan.
And we learned yesterday that a former Trump appointee advocated for herd immunity to respond to the coronavirus: “We want them infected.”
All of this hasn’t been lost on the American people. New numbers from Gallup show that just 31 percent of Americans give the CDC good marks on communicating a clear plan to deal with Covid – an even poorer level of confidence than the 33 percent who say the same of President Trump.
These revelations confirm what we thought all along: That a Trump administration, with a vested interest in deemphasizing the pandemic, interfered with government entities that are supposed to be free of political meddling.
But there’s surely more – and not all will be uncovered by investigative journalists and whistleblowers without a concerted effort to investigate using the full power of an official commission.
So why aren’t we hearing more about an investigation of what went wrong?
We can picture, say, a Jeb Bush and a Jeh Johnson leading a bipartisan commission to look into the failures of this era — and how we can be prepared to keep the next health crisis freer of political interference.

Hack and neglect
Speaking of government failures, be sure to read the op-ed by former Trump homeland security adviser Tom Bossert, who writes that the Russian cyberattack into our government is potentially more widespread and problematic than you can imagine.
“The Russians have had access to a considerable number of important and sensitive networks for six to nine months. The Russian S.V.R. will surely have used its access to further exploit and gain administrative control over the networks it considered priority targets. For those targets, the hackers will have long ago moved past their entry point, covered their tracks and gained what experts call “persistent access,” meaning the ability to infiltrate and control networks in a way that is hard to detect or remove.”
This cyberattack happened on Trump’s watch – and right before a new administration is about to take over the federal government.
And the president of the United States isn’t saying or doing anything about it…
