13.) AXIOS
Axios AM
🏐 Good Wednesday morning. It’s 100 days until the opening of the Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
- Smart Brevity™ count: 971 words … < 4 minutes.
🖥️ Please join Axios’ Russ Contreras tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. ET for an Axios Latino virtual event on immigration, featuring Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Texas) and The LIBRE Initiative president Daniel Garza. Sign up here.
The FDA’s decision to pause the J&J vaccine has set off a chain reaction of fear — about the safety of the vaccine, and about whether the FDA is overreacting, Axios health care editor Sam Baker writes.
- Of 20 social-media stories about J&J that drew the most engagement, just two headlines included the context that blood clots were rare occurrences, Axios’ Neal Rothschild notes from NewsWhip data.
The number of reported blood clots is low — just six patients out of the roughly 7 million who have gotten a J&J shot.
- Several other common medications, including birth control, carry a higher risk of blood clots than that. And the coronavirus causes a far higher incidence of blood clots than any of them.
That’s part of the reason critics say the FDA overreacted, allowing a very small number of adverse events to potentially undermine confidence in the vaccines.
- But the number of incidents will likely grow, now that doctors and regulators are looking for them more closely.
- All six patients who experienced blood clots in the U.S. were adult women.
The bottom line: The federal government has purchased enough of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines to vaccinate the vast majority of American adults.
President Biden announces at 2:15 p.m. ET today that the U.S. will withdraw the roughly 2,500 U.S. troops remaining in Afghanistan by Sept. 11 — the 20th anniversary of 9/11. That will end a war that killed 2,200+ American troops, wounded 20,000, and cost as much as $1 trillion.
- Biden is “starkly signaling his belief that the United States needs to shift its focus to other parts of the globe, especially Asia,” the WashPost’s Anne Gearan writes:
Biden sees the war against the Taliban as a drag on the need to deal with bigger threats like China, climate change … and even a terrorism menace that has mutated significantly … He is also focused on threats from Russia.
🗞️ How it’s playing …
On her 100th day as speaker of the 117th Congress, Speaker Pelosi told USA Today’s Susan Page (out today with “Madam Speaker“) and Ledyard King that the Capitol mob was “setting out” to kill her:
Asked if that frightened her, she replied, “Well, I’m pretty tough. I’m a street fighter. They would have had a battle on their hands.”
Besides, she said with a laugh, lifting a foot clad in her classic 4-inch-high stilettos, “I would have had these.”
Capitol Police officer William Evans lies in honor in the Capitol rotunda, after dying in the line of duty during the April 2 attack.
A sheriff’s officer sprayed tear gas through a fence near the police station in Brooklyn Center, Minn., last night as demonstrators protested the death of Daunte Wright for a third night.

Frustrated parents in San Francisco call it “Zoom in a Room,” AP reports:
- Kira Gaber was told to send her kindergartner back to his classroom with a laptop and headphones. His teacher will be working online from home, while an adult monitor watches the kids.
What’s happening: Educators were among the first groups eligible for vaccines, but some districts let them keep working from home if they — or someone they live with — is at high COVID risk.
- California ranks last in the country for in-person K-12 instruction, according to Burbio, which tracks some 1,200 school districts.

New York’s governor “seems determined to prove that the instincts that have gotten him into trouble can get him out of it,” Matt Flegenheimer writes in the N.Y. Times Magazine:
Once liable to be spotted about town, flashing a thumbs-up from a 1968 Pontiac GTO with a “1” license plate, Cuomo has ventured out recently under only the most prescribed of circumstances. …
He has said he wore his dad’s shoes on especially trying days. “Shakespeare, Oedipus, Freud,” Liz Krueger, a Manhattan state senator, who has known the family for decades, told me. “They all need to be in the room.”

Coinbase, the country’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, goes public today at a valuation that could top $100 billion, Axios Pro Rata maestro Dan Primack and Pro Rata Weekend creator Kia Kokalitcheva write.
- Why it matters: This gives crypto a Wall Street seal of legitimacy, after an early existence marred by ties to illicit goods.
Coinbase is going public via a direct listing, rather than through an initial public offering (IPO) or special purpose acquisition company (SPAC). This means that early investors and employees will sell shares directly, with Coinbase itself not receiving any proceeds.
- “It’s exactly in the spirit and ethos of crypto,” Coinbase president and COO Emile Choi tells the Axios Re:Cap podcast, in an episode posting later this morning. “Let the market determine what the price should be without intermediaries.”
The big picture: Coinbase is going public in the midst of a Bitcoin price boom that’s lasted for more than a year.
- A bear case is that Bitcoin prices plummet, creating what industry insiders call a “Bitcoin winter.”
Courtenay Brown noted in Axios Closer that this is basically a Mad Libs for our times.

Airbus won “Visionary Concepts” for a mock-up (above) with individual seats that swivel to change direction, “so families or groups traveling together can form smaller pods,” per CNBC:

Good morning from Warsaw. President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 vaccination campaign hit a snag when regulators recommended a “pause” in administering Johnson & Johnson shots. But the White House says it shows that safety is being put first. Prosecutors expect to decide whether to charge the white former police officer who fatally shot a Black man during a traffic stop in a Minneapolis suburb. Meanwhile, Biden is to lay out his vision for a way forward in Afghanistan after officials said troops would be withdrawn by Sept. 11. And an AP investigation shows that an aggressive Israeli settlement spree during the Trump era pushed deeper into the occupied West Bank, creating difficulties for Biden.

Yes, I still believe in bipartisanship. No, I don’t believe in unicorns
OPINION — The bipartisanship that pushed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 over the finish line and that produced last year’s COVID-19 relief packages is still possible today. It simply takes enough lawmakers and a president willing to understand that both parties have a role to play in finding solutions to the nation’s problems. Read more…

25.) POLITICO PLAYBOOK
POLITICO Playbook: ‘A gaslighting chamber of insanity’: Moderate Republicans seethe at Biden
Presented by Facebook
DRIVING THE DAY
“It’s a f—ing nightmare.”
That was the lament of a staffer working for one of the members of the so-called G-10, the group of 10 Republican senators who insist they’re itching to negotiate deals with the White House.
In the span of a few months, the G-10 has gone from the center of politics in DONALD TRUMP’S Washington to the policy sidelines in President JOE BIDEN’S.
While these senators mostly despised Trump, they were the engine of policymaking for his final Covid relief bill. While they mostly respect Biden, they have so far been irrelevant to his legislative push despite his inaugural promise of “unity.”
It’s been a bewildering change for them. And if you want to understand both why Biden is winning and why his so-far successful formula could be in jeopardy, it’s worth listening closely to the voices within this frustrated and marginalized group of self-proclaimed dealmakers.
Back to the nightmare. It starts with what they see as some hardwired media narratives they can’t shake: that Biden is a reasonable, deal-making moderate and that Republicans talk about compromise but really just want to obstruct. It’s a perception that has given the White House all the leverage.
“Biden is a horrible villain for us,” said the G-10 staffer, meaning not that he was an actual villain but that he was difficult to villainize. “There are deeply entrenched narratives that have some truth but are no longer totally true. Reporters believe them despite all evidence to the contrary.”
They see a White House “constantly rubbing dirt in the face of Republicans” over the party’s lack of interest in bipartisanship while “passing as many partisan bills as they possibly can through reconciliation before they lose the House in 2022.”
Two episodes stand out to them. The first was when they were invited to the White House to discuss the Covid relief bill in February. It was intoxicating. They finally had both a normal president, one who understood the Senate better than any president since LBJ, and one who recognized the G-10 as the center of power in Congress. The staffer joked that they were so giddy about the meeting that they had to be told to “calm down” and “play it cool.”
But the next day, Senate Majority Leader CHUCK SCHUMER announced the outlines of a plan to pass the bill with just 50 votes. “You do one meeting and 24 hours later they prepare the reconciliation process,” another G-10 staffer complained.
The second episode came last week, when Biden said the 10 senators “didn’t move an inch” off of their initial proposal during the Covid talks. On the eve of fresh negotiations over infrastructure, the president, in their view, was attacking them disingenuously. In a flurry of phone calls among the senators, they vented their outrage and plotted a response.
It can take days for a group of senators to agree on anything, but the 10 of them put out a statement a few hours later respectfully but firmly correcting Biden. “The Administration roundly dismissed our effort as wholly inadequate in order to justify its go-it-alone strategy,” it said in part. It didn’t receive much coverage.
THE NEXT DILEMMA — They are now debating internally how to approach the Biden jobs bill. Their big fear is being used as “props” or “window dressing” at the next White House meeting.
“If you get an invitation to the White House, you go to the White House. But regardless, you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t,” said another G-10 staffer. “When you go to the White House meeting you risk being used in a feigned attempt at bipartisanship. If you don’t go then it’s, ‘Oh, Republicans won’t even meet with me.’ It all pivots on whether it’s a genuine offer from the White House or just part of their messaging strategy.”
Another staffer for one of the group of 10 senators was resigned to a replay of the Covid bill: “You would be hard pressed to find anyone on our side of the aisle that thinks this will end up any differently than last time.”
The staffer who lamented the nightmare of it all had a grudging respect for how effectively Biden had played things so far.
“Everything they support is defined as either Covid relief or infrastructure, and everything they oppose is like … Jim Crow voter suppression and evil,” this G-10 aide said. “And you constantly just feel like you’re in this gaslighting chamber of insanity. But it’s working.”
The “G-10” senators are: SHELLEY MOORE CAPITO of West Virginia, BILL CASSIDY of Louisiana, SUSAN COLLINS of Maine, JERRY MORAN of Kansas, LISA MURKOWSKI of Alaska, ROB PORTMAN of Ohio, MITT ROMNEY of Utah, MIKE ROUNDS of South Dakota, THOM TILLIS of North Carolina and TODD YOUNG of Indiana.
WHY IT’S WORKING — Our latest POLITICO/Morning Consult poll suggests that Biden continues to hit the sweet spot in terms of highlighting popular measures, even on fraught issues like gun control. No wonder Republicans are frustrated. Some toplines:
- Sixty-four percent of voters support stricter gun control laws in the United States.
- Sixty-three percent of voters support Biden’s executive order to limit the spread of “ghost guns.”
- A plurality of American voters somewhat or strongly support (46%; 28% oppose) Biden’s executive order to increase regulation of stabilizing braces, which can turn a pistol into a kind of rifle that ordinarily would require stricter government controls.
- Seventy-three percent of voters support employees’ right to bargain collectively for workplace conditions.
- Biden’s overall job approval is 60%. Toplines … Crosstabs
Good Wednesday morning. Thanks for reading Playbook. For everyone not in the G-10, what’s your main takeaway about how Biden has changed Washington so far? Drop us a line: Rachael Bade, Eugene Daniels, Ryan Lizza, Tara Palmeri.

PLAYBOOK READS
THE WHITE HOUSE
WHILE PUBLICLY DISMISSING LARRY SUMMERS — “The Biden Administration Is Quietly Keeping Tabs on Inflation,” NYT: “Armed with their internal data and conclusions, administration officials have begun to push back on warnings that a stimulus-fueled surge in consumer spending could revive a 1970s-style escalation in wages and prices that could cripple the economy in the years to come.
“Yet they remain wary of the inflation threat and have devised the next wave of Mr. Biden’s spending plans, a $2.3 trillion infrastructure package, to dispense money gradually enough not to stoke further price increases right away. Administration officials also continue to check on real-time measures of prices across the economy, multiple times a day.”
CONGRESS
MARK YOUR CALENDARS: PELOSI INVITES BIDEN TO ADDRESS CONGRESS — Speaker NANCY PELOSI formally invited Biden to address a joint session of Congress on April 28. It’ll be like a State of the Union address, but much smaller and socially distanced. An official involved in the planning said there would be a limit on the number of lawmakers allowed to attend to comply with coronavirus protocols. (Another person told us they believed that number could be as low as 200 rather than the typical 535 members of Congress, but those details are still being worked out.)
Lawmakers will also be barred from bringing guests. And the entire event will be designated as a “national special security event,” meaning extra protection for everyone present.
WOKE SENATE REPUBLICANS? NOT SO MUCH — Many Senate watchers were certain Republicans would mount their first legislative filibuster of the year this week by blocking Sen. MAZIE HIRONO’S (D-Hawaii) bill targeting anti-Asian hate crimes. Instead, GOP senators announced they’ll vote to advance it today — possibly seeking some minor tweaks before passage.
“As a proud husband of an Asian American woman, I think this discrimination against Asian Americans is a real problem,” Senate Minority Leader MITCH MCCONNELL said Tuesday. Nicholas Wu, the latest addition to POLITICO’s Congress team, has more.
Historically, Republicans generally haven’t supported hate crimes legislation. So what changed? Public pressure after the recent surge of violence against Asian Americans? More likely: Knowing that a showdown over the filibuster is likely looming, Republicans are loath to hand Democrats ammunition by blocking a bill that’s tough to oppose on its face. Better to hold off for a bill they really want to stop.
SPORTS BLINK — NBC: “Sens. Cruz, Hawley, Lee seek to strip Major League Baseball of antitrust exemption”
REPARATIONS ON THE TABLE — “House panel to vote on slavery reparations bill for first time, supporters are calling it an important milestone,” WaPo: “The debate over whether to pay reparations to the descendants of enslaved people will take a step forward Wednesday when a House committee votes on legislation to create a commission to study the issue, which has been fiercely debated over the past year on the campaign trail and in several communities across the country. …
“The bill would establish a 13-person commission that would study the effects of slavery and racial discrimination in the United States from before the country’s founding to today. The commission would then submit to Congress its findings and ‘appropriate remedies’ on how best to compensate Black Americans.”
GAETZ-GATE
JOEL GREENBERG LATEST — “Indicted Gaetz Associate Is Said to Be Cooperating With Justice Dept.,” NYT: “A former local official in Florida indicted in the Justice Department investigation that is also focused on Representative Matt Gaetz has been providing investigators with information since last year about an array of topics, including Mr. Gaetz’s activities, according to two people briefed on the matter.
“Joel Greenberg, a onetime county tax collector, disclosed to investigators that he and Mr. Gaetz had encounters with women who were given cash or gifts in exchange for sex, the people said.”
NO CONSEQUENCES … YET — “Gaetz’s glare stings House GOP — but his future’s safe for now,” by Melanie Zanona and Olivia Beavers: “While top Republicans acknowledged the serious nature of the allegations surrounding Gaetz, just one sitting GOP lawmaker has so far publicly called on him to resign: Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois. Instead, Republican leaders on Tuesday were quick to defer to the ongoing Justice Department probe, noting that the Florida Republican would automatically lose his committee assignments if he were indicted.
“The restraint from GOP leadership … suggests it’s unlikely that Gaetz will suffer any intra-party consequences until the investigation is complete.”
ABOUT THAT TRIP — “New details shed light on Gaetz’s Bahamas trip,” by Marc Caputo and Matt Dixon
THE J&J PAUSE
THE FALLOUT — “Biden officials bracing for possibility of weekslong disruption to J&J vaccine supply,” by Erin Banco: “[T]wo senior administration officials told POLITICO that the Biden administration is preparing for a potentially lengthy disruption in use of the J&J vaccine, particularly for certain groups — such as women ages 18-48 … The CDC is waiting for its independent vaccine advisory panel to make a determination on Wednesday about whether and how to restrict eligibility for the J&J shot …
“The administration’s preparations for a potentially lengthy stoppage highlight the level of concern among senior government scientists — especially after reports of similar rare but serious reports of blood clots among recipients of AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 shot, which uses the same technology as the J&J vaccine. The situation also presents a major political challenge for the Biden administration as it tries to balance the best scientific advice with concerns that the pause could dent public confidence in vaccines or lead to further infections or deaths.”
THE TICK-TOCK ON THE DECISION — “Why Biden health officials decided to pause J&J’s coronavirus vaccine,” WaPo: “When top Biden administration health officials gathered on a Zoom call Monday night, they knew they faced a difficult decision. … Initially, some suggested the government could just issue a warning to consumers and doctors. They didn’t want to undermine confidence in vaccines given the danger of covid-19. But as they talked, two big worries emerged. They feared there might be additional cases of brain blood clots they didn’t know about. And what if the government didn’t act quickly, and as a result more people got the wrong diagnosis and treatment and were hurt or died?
“Their unanimous agreement to recommend a pause in using the J&J single-shot vaccine early Tuesday morning set off a fierce debate. … The federal officials who made the decision said their goal was to be open and transparent with the public — and to ensure health-care providers know about a rare side effect that should be treated differently than ordinary blood clots.”
THE AFGHANISTAN PULLOUT
TOP-EDS … “History will cast a shadow over Biden’s decision to withdraw from Afghanistan,” by WaPo’s David Ignatius: “Biden sometimes comes across as a genial gaffer, pliable in the way of a career politician. But Tuesday’s announcement shows that he is also a stubborn and resolute man. Friends say he was bruised by the Afghanistan battles of a decade ago and took away some grudges. When convinced he’s right, he’s prepared to take big risks — as he has this week. …
“Can the CIA maintain a clandestine force in Afghanistan that’s strong enough to operate against al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups? Will drones be effective, if they must now be based in the Persian Gulf, with long flight times to Afghanistan and much shorter periods over potential target areas? We don’t know the answers. Biden is rolling the dice.”
— “Biden’s Afghanistan withdrawal could be the first step to a Taliban takeover,” by WaPo’s Max Boot
— “Biden Can Redeem His Mistake,” by The Atlantic’s George Packer: “In April 1975, as a first-term senator, he was an outspoken opponent of using American money and risking Americans’ safety to rescue the tens of thousands of South Vietnamese who had bet their lives on American promises. …
“[T]he Biden administration has given itself almost five months [to leave]. That’s enough time to save [17,000] Afghans who risked everything to help the United States in their country. But there isn’t enough time to save them just by speeding up the review of visa applications. These Afghans have to be extricated from the country and taken to an overseas U.S. military base, where their cases can be heard in safety, beyond the reach of the Taliban.”
JAN. 6 AND ITS AFTERMATH
YIKES — “Capitol Police Told to Hold Back on Riot Response on Jan. 6, Report Finds,” NYT: “The Capitol Police had clearer advance warnings about the Jan. 6 attack than were previously known, including the potential for violence in which ‘Congress itself is the target.’ But officers were instructed by their leaders not to use their most aggressive tactics to hold off the mob, according to a scathing new report by the agency’s internal investigator.”
A disturbing nugget from the story: “Three days before the siege, a Capitol Police intelligence assessment warned of violence from supporters of President Donald J. Trump who believed his false claims that the election had been stolen. Some had even posted a map of the Capitol complex’s tunnel system on pro-Trump message boards.”
BEYOND THE BELTWAY
APRIL FOOLS’? — “‘NY Touch’ prank results in Corning Tower crackdown to prevent repeat,” Times Union: “Days after someone pulled off a prank apparently directed at Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo — changing the ‘NY TOUGH’ light display on the Corning Tower to ‘NY TOUCH’ — state maintenance workers used zip ties to secure window blinds in the building, including ones that were lowered last Friday to execute the caper.
“State government officials have declined to explain how or why the building light display — which faces Cuomo’s Capitol office on the north side of the tower — was briefly changed on Friday evening. The incognito change in wording drew wide attention and took place two days after the Times Union published a story detailing a female aide’s account of allegedly being groped by the governor at the Executive Mansion in November.”
SIGNATURE POLITICS — “DeSantis wants voters’ signatures to match. Would his pass the test?” Tampa Bay Times: “If the Florida governor gets his way, mail-in ballot signatures would have to match the most recent signature on file with the state. His own signature history shows how autographs evolve.”
WHOA … “Gov.’s campaign settles with ex-spokesman,” Albuquerque Journal: “Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s gubernatorial campaign has paid at least $62,500 as part of a settlement with a former staff member who had accused her of sexual mistreatment during a staff meeting …
“[James Hallinan] accused Lujan Grisham in late 2019 — about a year after he left the campaign — of pouring a bottle of water on his crotch and then grabbing his crotch through his clothes as she laughed, an incident he said took place in front of other campaign staffers. … Lujan Grisham, [Dominic] Gabello and the campaign organization itself ‘strenuously deny that there is any merit or truth to Mr. Hallinan’s claims, including his claims about difficulty finding or keeping work after the campaign,’ [a campaign spokesman] said.”

The Morning Briefing: Project Veritas Confirms CNN Is a Cesspool of Biased Lies
Top O’ the Briefing
Can We Arrest Everyone At CNN?
Happy Wednesday, dear Kruiser Morning Briefing friends. “Crab cakes” are something completely different at an outdoor music festival.
In a world of constant turmoil and change, constants can be welcome. Good constants, that is. It would be nice to have some of those right about now.
That’s a big ask here on March 410, 2020.
Unfortunately, one of the most enduring constants here in the waning days of the American Experiment is the thorough rot at the core of the American mainstream media. We discuss it a lot here because, well, it’s everywhere. All the time. Hard to shake.
These people just won’t go away.
CNN’s one accomplishment in recent years is that it emerged as the most egregiously biased, pathetic cable news network in America. That had been an MSNBC thing before the Trump years. At some point in 2017, CNN must have realized, “Hey, we have Jim Acosta, we should be the most awful.”
Bless their little hearts, they pulled it off.
James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas has released some new videos that reveal that CNN is worse than many of us thought.
We all knew they were actively working to remove President Trump from office. Tyler covered what Project Veritas found out about that:
In the latest Project Veritas sting video, CNN Technical Director Charlie Chester admits that his network used “propaganda” in an effort to ensure that President Donald Trump lost the 2020 election. Chester takes credit for Trump’s loss and confesses that the network created at least one story that was “all speculation” in order to defeat the president. He also says that as soon as the COVID-19 pandemic tapers off, CNN plans to “milk” climate alarmism for all it’s worth.
“Look what we did, we [CNN] got Trump out. I am 100% going to say it, and I 100% believe that if it wasn’t for CNN, I don’t know that Trump would have got voted out,” Chester tells the Project Veritas undercover journalist in the sting video. “I came to CNN because I wanted to be a part of that.”
The director discusses at least one situation where CNN intentionally crafted a story questioning Trump’s health, a story that amounted to “propaganda.”
The president’s “hand was shaking or whatever, I think. We brought in so many medical people to tell a story that was all speculation — that he was neurologically damaged, and he was losing it,” Chester recalls. “He’s unfit to — you know, whatever.”
For the millionth time: one of President Trump’s greatest accomplishments was forcing the execrable hacks in the media to abandon all pretense to being unbiased. They’re now eager to show us what First Amendment-abusing scum they are. Six years ago, anyone at CNN would have been careful to not admit they were just making stuff up. It’s not that they weren’t doing it back then too, it’s just that they tried to keep it covered up.
CNN’s lying about Trump being mentally and physically unfit to be in office led to the United States now having a president who is mentally and physically unfit to be in office.
But don’t call them “the enemy of the people” because their feelings will get hurt.
The second Project Veritas vid gave us some insight about what CNN is up to at the moment. Matt’s got that:
In the previous video, Chester admitted that his network used “propaganda” to help defeat President Donald Trump in the 2020 election. The latest video released by Project Veritas explains how they’re doing the exact same thing right now with Matt Gaetz.
“If the agenda, say, is to like get, like Matt Gaetz right now—he’s like this Republican. He’s a problem for the Democratic Party because he’s so conservative and he can cause a lot of hiccups in the passing of laws and whatnot,” Chester says in the undercover video. “So, it would be great for the Democratic Party to get him out. So we’re [CNN] going to keep running those stories to keep hurting him. and make it so that it can’t be buried, and like just settled outside of court and just like, you know, if we keep pushing that, it’s helping us [CNN].”
“He’s a problem for the Democratic Party because he’s so conservative…” — there ya go.
When the press is doing the bidding of a political party it isn’t a free press, it’s a beholden propaganda machine. This CNN idiot is celebrating being a media serf for the Democratic National Committee. This is beyond the pale even for a journalism class that very few people respect.
What’s going to be fun is watching the media cover for this by trotting out its favorite pushback to anything that O’Keefe does: saying that the videos were selectively edited. They never are. In fact, the only selective editing we’ve actually seen was done by 60 Minutes in their hit piece on Ron DeSantis a couple of weeks ago. Everything with the Left is projection.
As the late, great Andrew Breitbart used to say, the Democratic media complex needs to be destroyed.
Now more than ever.

31.) THE DISPATCH
The Morning Dispatch: Johnson & Johnson Vaccine Hits a Snag
Plus: As the economy recovers, the specter of inflation.
The Dispatch Staff | 5 min ago | 2 |
Happy Wednesday! What will come first: President Joe Biden’s first address to a joint session of Congress set for April 28, or the Chicago Cubs’ offense managing to score more than three runs?
Quick Hits: Today’s Top Stories
- The Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) issued a joint statement yesterday recommending a nationwide pause in the administration of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine due to six reported cases of vaccine recipients (out of 6.8 million doses administered) developing a rare and severe type of blood clot. The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices will meet today to review the data and determine a path forward.
- President Biden will announce a complete, conditions-free troop withdrawal from Afghanistan by September 11 of this year, a senior administration official told reporters yesterday. The drawdown will begin prior to the May 1 deadline the Trump administration negotiated with the Taliban last year, but won’t be completed by then.
- Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, meanwhile, announced yesterday the United States will reverse the Trump administration’s planned troop reduction in Germany and actually boost America’s presence in the country by 500 troops.
- Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tuesday that the country will—in response to the attack on one of its nuclear facilities over the weekend—begin enriching some of its uranium to 60 percent. Tehran will, however, continue participating in Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action negotiations in Vienna.
- The Brooklyn Center police officer who fatally shot Daunte Wright in Minnesota over the weekend announced her resignation from the force yesterday. The city’s police chief is stepping down as well.
- The United States confirmed 75,762 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday per the Johns Hopkins University COVID-19 Dashboard, with 7.1 percent of the 1,074,262 tests reported coming back positive. An additional 893 deaths were attributed to the virus on Tuesday, bringing the pandemic’s American death toll to 563,426. According to the CDC, 35,762 Americans are currently hospitalized with COVID-19. Meanwhile, 2,590,736 COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered yesterday, with 122,295,530 Americans having now received at least one dose.
From Our Partners At Reason
In a media environment cluttered with voices that play to the crowd, Reason magazine stands out as a clear and unapologetic voice for free minds and free markets. In a political moment in which leaders of both political parties seem comfortable growing the power of the government, Reason offers a welcome contrarian view, with reporting and commentary that provides daily reminders of the threat to freedom posed by the power of the state.
Public Health Officials Press Pause On J&J Vaccine
We probably don’t spend enough time talking about this: The United States’ COVID-19 vaccination effort is the envy of most of the world. Nearly 30 percent of our population is fully vaccinated, and 62.5 percent of our senior citizens are. On a rate basis, our 0.97 daily doses administered per 100 residents is higher than all but a few countries—and more than twice the European Union’s 0.47. But across the country, we’re starting to hit that inflection point where our quest for herd immunity will have more to do with vaccine demand than vaccine supply. And a development yesterday has the potential to dramatically affect uptake among the vaccine hesitant.
In a statement released early Tuesday morning, Dr. Peter Marks of the Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research and Dr. Anne Schuchat of the CDC announced their agencies were recommending a nationwide pause on the administration of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine due to six reported cases of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis—a rare and severe type of blood clot—among the 6.8 million vaccine recipients thus far. Of those six vaccine recipients, each of whom were women under 50, one died, and another remains in critical condition.
“I’d like to stress these events appear to be extremely rare,” acting FDA commissioner Dr. Janet Woodcock told reporters yesterday. “However, COVID-19 vaccine safety is a top priority for the federal government, and we take all reports of adverse events following vaccination very seriously.”
The move was met with bipartisan criticism for its potential to increase vaccine hesitancy over what appears at first glance to be a series of one in a million events. Former President Donald Trump called it a “terrible disservice to people throughout the world,” noting the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is “extraordinary” but that its reputation will now be “permanently challenged.” Democratic Sen. Brian Schatz of Hawaii made a similar case. “I respect the independence of the FDA and their need to evaluate risk,” he said. “But 6 out of 6.8 million is not a lot, and if they are going to land on ‘we reviewed the data and everything is fine,’ they need to be clear and quick and unequivocal.”
A Predictable Uptick in Inflation
U.S. consumer prices rose 2.6 percent year-over-year, the Labor Department reported Tuesday, and 0.6 percent in March alone—the largest one-month consumer price index (CPI) bump the U.S. economy has seen since August 2012. With economic activity beginning to trend closer to pre-pandemic levels—and trillions of dollars in federal spending coming down the pike—the data have some starting to worry about excess inflation.
The most striking CPI increases came in the energy sector, where prices for the average urban consumer rose 13.2 percent over the past year—the gasoline index shot up 9.1 percent in March 2021 alone. But if you exclude energy and food—the food index jumped 3.5 percent year-over-year—the overall CPI came in at only 1.6 percent. Some sectors even saw negative cost pressures: Consumer prices for apparel fell 2.5 percent over the past year, and 2.4 percent for medical care commodities.
Why the disparate trends among different sectors? “Since inflationary pressures are based around supply and demand, areas that have negative year-over-year inflationary pressures are areas where demand has not caught up to pre-pandemic levels,” Luke Lloyd, an investment analyst with Strategic Wealth Partners, told The Dispatch. “The areas that have positive year-over-year inflationary pressures [are] where demand exceeds pre-pandemic levels or those businesses were forced to raise prices to survive.”
Take the transportation industry: Demand for buses, trains, and airplanes plummeted during the pandemic as travelers sought what they perceived to be more COVID-safe alternatives. As a result, consumer prices for transportation services fell1.6 percent, but increased1.5 percent for new vehicles and 9.4 percent for used cars and trucks.
Worth Your Time
- President Biden has been compared to FDR and LBJ early in his presidency—and he’s reportedly welcomed those comparisons. But on policy, the 46th president may be more similar to his immediate predecessor than partisans on either side of the aisle would care to admit. “We should regard Bidenism, in its current outline, as an attempt to build on Donald Trump’s half-formed, never-finished policy agenda, in the way that elements of Jimmy Carter’s program found their fullest expression in Ronald Reagan’s presidency,” Ross Douthat argues in his latest column.
- Republicans have been sharply critical of congressional Democrats’ H.R. 1 election reform package since it was introduced, but it’s starting to face some criticism from the left as well. “The bill is actually too sprawling to summarize fairly at column length, which is in some ways the key thing to know about it,” Matt Yglesias writes in his latest Substack newsletter. “It represents a grab bag of ideas, some of which are populist messaging points, some of which are individual members’ pet ideas, and really only one of which—the anti-gerrymandering provisions—actually tries to tackle what I think of as a genuinely very serious problem in the country. Unfortunately, while the bill taken as a whole is ‘big’ and ‘sweeping,’ the actual anti-gerrymandering provisions are kind of weak and vague. And the bill also doesn’t really do anything to address concerns that have emerged since the 2020 election and the January 6 mob that Republicans may try to steal elections. Instead, it’s actually much more focused on campaign finance and government ethics stuff that is much lower-stakes, and some of which has drawn serious criticism from the ACLU and others.”
Presented Without Comment
“Can I tell you my favorite thing about the governor?” Biden said of Cuomo in 2015. “He’s got tremendous balls. Absolutely enormous balls.” He cupped his hands as if cradling melons. (WH: “This does not sound like something President Biden would say.”)
Toeing the Company Line
- Congress is back from recess, and so is Haley’s Uphill newsletter! In yesterday’s edition, Haley touches on lawmakers’ efforts to boost U.S. competitiveness with China, the Matt Gaetz situation, and President Biden’s failure thus far to follow through on his pledge to raise the refugee cap. She highlights one of the most tangible ways the United States can help Uyghurs and other oppressed minorities from Xinjiang: granting them priority refugee status. “If the U.S. government is serious about supporting Uyghurs, members of Congress should support this legislation,” senior program officer for the Uyghur Human Rights Project Peter Irwin told Haley.
- In this week’s edition of The Sweep, Sarah illustrates just how much of a grip former President Trump still has on the Republican Party, and how that could hurt the GOP’s chances for control of the Senate in 2022. She also takes a look at why candidates launch campaigns when they do, and Chris Stirewalt drops by to provide his $0.02 on the increasingly strained relationship between Republicans and big business. “Until the party can understand that it takes both affluent and working-class voters to win, they’re in for plenty more unhappy days,” he writes.
- Not to ruin your morning, but David’s French Press last night focused on the small—but increasing—likelihood that a Third World War is brewing while America continues to look inward. “I hope I’m being alarmist,” he writes. “It’s infinitely preferable to engage in Twitter wars over Dr. Seuss and diversity training than it is to be shocked at the news that an American carrier is in flames off the coast of Taiwan. But it’s a simple fact that America is turning inward while our geopolitical rivals have closed the military gap and remain laser-focused on their own national interests.”
- Andy Smarick of the Manhattan Institute dropped by The Remnant yesterday to chat with Jonah about the folly of never-ending school closures, the pandemic culture wars, and divisions among conservatives.

BLM worships known abusers of women while attacking those who defend women daily
Posted: 14 Apr 2021 05:07 AM PDT The #MeToo movement highlighted men who abused women, and the vast majority of progressives supported the movement. But when it comes to Black Lives Matter, there’s a distinct willingness to set aside the #MeToo tenets in order to elevate men who abuse women to martyr status. After all, their victims’ concerns are secondary to progressives when the narrative can be built around hating cops and stirring up race wars. The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh noticed a trend in the men who generate so much support, people are willing to loot local beauty supply and liquor stores on their behalf.
“Daunte Wright choked a woman and robbed her at gun point. George Floyd forced his way into a woman’s home and robbed her at gunpoint. Jacob Blake broke into a woman’s home and raped her in her bedroom,” he Tweeted. “Every BLM martyr turns out to be a brutally violent woman-abuser.” The current sainted beacon upon which to rally the BLM and Antifa troops is Daunte Wright. His tragic death at the hands of a police officer who accidentally pulled her firearm instead of her taser when he was evading capture has sparked three straight nights of riots in various cities across the nation, including his home town of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. The narrative surrounding him is that he was killed over an air freshener. As it turns out, that’s not true at all.
According to The Daily Mail: Daunte Wright choked a woman and threatened to shoot her if she did not hand over $820 she had stuffed in her bra, court papers obtained by DailyMail.com allege. That is the case that led to a warrant for his arrest at the time he was shot and killed by police officer Kimberly Potter in Minnesota on Sunday, leading to days of unrest. And online speculation that he did not know there was a warrant out for his arrest is false, DailyMail.com has learned. A letter returned to the court for having a wrong address was giving notice of a court date in August and had nothing to do with the warrant. … Wright was allegedly pulled over for having expired license plate tags, although he called his mother and told her it was for having an air freshener hanging on his rear-view mirror. While checking his details, Potter and other officers learned of the warrant. When they tried to handcuff him, Wright got back into his car and at that point Potter shot him in the chest after warning fellow officers to get out of the way by shouting, ‘Taser, taser, taser.’ Wright was due to face trial on a charge of attempted aggravated robbery – with a possible maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. George Floyd and Jacob Blake were two men whose altercations with law enforcement prompted the two biggest series of riots last summer. Floyd was killed while under the knee of police officer Derek Chauvin. Blake survived being shot while holding a knife. Both men have criminal histories of abuse against women, including sexual assault charges against Blake. What is it about Black Lives Matter that the heroes upon which they build their organization are abusive criminals and predators of women? The narrative that is often repeated by so-called activists is that it isn’t safe for a Black man to walk down the street or he may get shot randomly by a white supremacist police officer. If that’s really happening, why does BLM focus so acutely on people like Floyd, Blake, and Wright? There’s another side to the coin. The primary target of BLM “activism” is the law enforcement arena. For every BLM martyr used to attack police, there are thousands of women who are saved from violent men by the police. There are also thousands of abusers and rapists who are caught by the very police officers that BLM wants to take down on behalf of people like Daunte Wright. BLM makes “martyrs” of people like Daunte Wright, George Floyd, and Jacob Blake, all of whom are known to abuse women. Meanwhile, they attack cops who protect women daily. Conclusion: BLM hates women. ‘The Purge’ by Big Tech targets conservatives, including usJust when we thought the Covid-19 lockdowns were ending and our ability to stay afloat was improving, censorship reared its ugly head. For the last few months, NOQ Report has appealed to our readers for assistance in staying afloat through Covid-19 lockdowns. The downturn in the economy has limited our ability to generate proper ad revenue just as our traffic was skyrocketing. We had our first sustained stretch of three months with over a million visitors in November, December, and January, but February saw a dip. It wasn’t just the shortened month. We expected that. We also expected the continuation of dropping traffic from “woke” Big Tech companies like Google, Facebook, and Twitter, but it has actually been much worse than anticipated. Our Twitter account was banned. One of our YouTube accounts was banned and another has been suspended. Facebook “fact-checks” everything we post. Spotify canceled us. Why? Because we believe in the truth prevailing, and that means we will continue to discuss “taboo” topics. The 2020 presidential election was stolen. You can’t say that on Big Tech platforms without risking cancelation, but we’d rather get cancelled for telling the truth rather than staying around to repeat mainstream media’s lies. They have been covering it up since before the election and they’ve convinced the vast majority of conservative news outlets that they will be harmed if they continue to discuss voter fraud. We refuse to back down. The truth is the truth. COVID-19 dress rehearsals and proof of the plan
Posted: 14 Apr 2021 03:34 AM PDT STORY AT-A-GLANCE
In the featured video, German attorney and cofounder of the German Corona Extra-Parliamentary Inquiry Committee1,2,3 Dr. Reiner Fuellmich,4 interviews holocaust survivor Vera Sharav, a human rights advocate and founder of the Alliance for Human Research Protection (AHRP). In light of the rise of medical fascism guised as pandemic response, Sharav’s warning to the world is extremely pertinent. She draws direct parallels between the global response to COVID-19 and the tactics employed in Nazi Germany to segregate Jews and other undesirables, with the intent to commit mass genocide. Indeed, when you look at history, pandemic exercises through the years and planning reports by globalist nongovernmental organizations, you get the distinct impression that the pandemic measures rolled out for COVID-19 are the culmination of decades of careful planning to radically and permanently alter the governance and social structures of the world. Disturbingly, significant reductions in population through various means feature heavily in such plans. What’s more, it’s clear that the medical system has been used in the past to drive forward this New World Order/Great Reset agenda, and is now being used to implement the final stages of this plan. As noted by EnergyTherapy.biz, which provides a transcript of the first seven minutes of Sharav’s interview:5 “Whether people see the genocidal plans or not is largely down to their level of awareness, and whether they buy into mainstream propaganda …” “As a child survivor of the Nazi reign of terror, I learned indelible lessons about the nature of evil,” Sharav says. “I know the consequences of being stigmatized and demonized as being a ‘spreader’ of disease. My perspective is informed by my experience, by the historical record, and by the empirical evidence.” Where Are We Headed? As a Jew, Sharav was required to wear the yellow Star of David on her clothing at all times, so that she could be identified, segregated and discriminated against. By law, Jews were not allowed to engage in society like other Germans. They were barred from ordinary activities, including educational, religious and cultural gatherings. Their private property was impounded and they were forbidden to travel. “These painful memories from my childhood sensitized me to the threat posed by current restrictive government dictates,” she says. “In 1776, Benjamin Rush, a doctor and a signer of the Declaration of Independence, foresaw the danger of medicine organizing as what he called ‘an undercover dictatorship.’ Under the Nazi Regime, moral norms were systematically obliterated. The medical profession and institutions were radically transformed, academic science, the military, industry and clinical medicine were tightly interwoven — as they are now. The Nazi system destroyed a social conscience in the name of ‘public health.’ Violations against individuals and classes of human beings were institutionalized. Eugenics driven public health policies replaced the physician’s focus on the good of the individual. [The] German medical profession and institutions were perverted. Coercive public health policies violated individual civil and human rights. Criminal methods were used to enforce policy. Nazi propaganda used fear of infectious epidemics to demonize Jews as spreaders of disease; as a menace to public health. This is a hallmark of anti-Semitism, [to] blame the Jewish people for existential threats … Fear and propaganda were the psychological weapons the Nazis used to impose a genocidal regime. And today, some are beginning to understand why the German people didn’t rise up. Fear kept them from doing the right thing. Medical mandates, today, are a major step backwards toward a fascist dictatorship and genocide. Government dictates, medical intervention — these undermine our dignity as well as our freedom. First it was vaccination mandates for children. Now it’s for adults. The stark lesson of the Holocaust is that whenever doctors join forces with government and deviate from their personal, professional, clinical commitment to do no harm to the individual, medicine can then be perverted from a healing, humanitarian profession to a murderous apparatus … What sets the Holocaust apart from all other mass genocides is the pivotal role played by the entire medical establishment. Every step of the murderous process was endorsed by the academic, professional medical establishment. Medical doctors and prestigious medical societies and institutions lent the veneer of legitimacy to infanticide [and] mass murder of civilians. T4 was the first industrialized medical murder project in history. The first victims were disabled German infants and children under 3. They were identified by midwives, who reported their existence to the state. The next victims were the mentally ill, followed by the elderly in nursing homes. The murderous operations were methodical, and followed protocol very, very carefully.” Disturbingly, and as mentioned earlier, the medical profession is again being enlisted to carry out dubious directives that will benefit the global elite while harming the people. The only difference, really, is that today, the agenda is being implemented worldwide. Sharav warns: “The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed eugenics-driven public health policies in Western Europe and the United States. This is a chilling replay of T4. Government directives to hospitalize [the sick] in nursing homes essentially condemned the elderly to death. In Europe and the U.S., hospitals were ordered NOT to treat, not to provide medical treatment, including oxygen, to elderly people in nursing homes … Before he issued the executive order that sent more than 15,000 human beings to death, Governor Cuomo of New York state predicted that the virus would be like ‘fire through dry grass’ in nursing homes.” Hitler’s T4 Program“T4” refers to Hitler’s Aktion T4 involuntary euthanasia campaign,6 where the incurably sick, physically and mentally handicapped, psychologically ill and elderly — all so-called “worthless eaters” — were murdered by the medical establishment. An estimated 300,000 disabled people alone were killed under the T4 program,7 which was initiated in 1939.8 The organization in charge of the euthanasia program was the Reich Work Group of Sanatoriums and Nursing Homes, and the code name “T4” stands for Tiergarten 4, the street in Berlin where the headquarter of this organization was housed. To prisoners in Nazi work camps, the program was colloquially known as “Operation Invalid.” Its official designation on paperwork was “Operation 14f13,” or “Special Treatment 14f13.” During the Holocaust, prisoners selected for this special treatment were simply told they were being sent to a “rest home.” Some actually volunteered for the treatment, until rumors of what was really happening started leaking out. After the T4 program was officially ended in 1941,9 German doctors continued to be encouraged, and sometimes directed by the Nazi regime, to act on their own when it came to making life and death determinations. This became known as “wild euthanasia,”10 and continued until 1945.11 A psychiatrist offered the following testimony after the war:12 “In conversation with other participants in the program I learned that there would be no fuss if some physician or other in an institution stood ready to kill a patient by injection or overdose, if he was convinced that the patient’s extinction was desirable.” As explained by Sharav, T4 ended up being a testing grounds for lethal injections and pharmaceuticals. Not surprisingly, the corporate elite — including Standard Oil, IBM, Kodak, Ford, Coca-Cola, Nestle, IG Farben and Bayer — were the primary financial beneficiaries of the Nazi terror regime, which they all supported. In “IBM Colluded With Hitler, Now Makes Vaccine Passports,” I review the crucially central role IBM, specifically, played. Without IBM’s technology, the Nazis would have been unable to efficiently identify, track, imprison and exterminate Jews. Today, the technology to identify and track down anyone or any group of individuals has exponentially improved. The Avian Flu PandemicIn 2006, there was another dress rehearsal for the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, the avian flu emerged as a global pandemic, and public health officials advised the Bush Administration to implement quarantines, closures and measured lockdowns. Dr. Donald Henderson was the primary author of a report13 that in no uncertain terms dismissed the justifications for these, what he called “unscientific measures.” He warned that using these kinds of measures could turn a manageable epidemic into a “catastrophe.” At that time, these warnings did not fall on deaf ears, and quarantines, business closures and lockdowns were not implemented. During the COVID-19 pandemic, however, doctors and scientists who spoke out against COVID-19 pandemic measures and government dictates were simply censored, vilified and threatened with loss of livelihood. They’ve been roundly ignored by government leaders, and the virus has been continuously “exploited to maintain a state of fear,” Sharav says. We can now see that lockdowns are a “very effective means for social control” and the transfer of wealth, she adds. Indeed, the corporate elite have profited immensely from the shutting down of small, private businesses, so, it would be naïve to ignore the financial incentives behind this tactic. In the case of Big Tech, the companies profiting from these draconian measures are also the ones censoring objections. Lockdowns have done nothing, however, to alter the course of the pandemic, just as Henderson warned. Instead, “people are being conditioned to submit passively to government dictates,” Sharav says, and children, robbed of an education, are being “conditioned to distrust people.” This, I believe, has been the true intention all along. “Mandatory masks are an insidious psychological weapon. They demean our dignity as free human beings. They do not work in this or any other epidemic. And, they are the symbolic equivalent of the yellow star.” The SPARS Pandemic of 2025In a November 2020 article14 posted on The Last American Vagabond, Derrick Broze reviews a 2017 coronavirus pandemic simulation (the SPARS pandemic scenario) held by the Johns Hopkins Center of Health Security. There have been many such exercises. Most recently, there was Event 201, organized by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in collaboration with Johns Hopkins and the World Economic Forum. That exercise took place in October 2019, just a few months before the COVID-19 pandemic broke out. One of the many striking foreshadowings in that exercise was the radical crackdown on and censoring of “misinformation.” As reported by Broze: “Event 201 simulated how the world would respond to a fictional coronavirus pandemic known as CAPS, which swept around the planet. The simulation imagined 65 million people dying, mass lock downs, quarantines, censorship of alternative viewpoints under the guise of fighting ‘disinformation,’ and even floated the idea of arresting people who question the pandemic narrative.” Just two months earlier, in October 2019, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), headed by Alex Azar, along with several national, state and local organizations, held a pandemic exercise known as Crimson Contagion. It simulated an outbreak of a novel avian influenza virus originating in China. A simulation called Clade X was held in May 2018. Here, the virus in question was a biological weapon released by a terrorist group. Requirements, should the President issue a federal quarantine order, were discussed. The federal government also ended up nationalizing the health care system in this exercise. Of these, the SPARS pandemic exercise held in 2017 is among the lesser-known, but like Event 201, it bears striking similarities to our current situation. Broze writes:15 “In October 2017, the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security released their report,16,17 SPARS Pandemic, 2025-2028: A Futuristic Scenario for Public Health Risk Communicators. The report is written from the perspective of someone in 2030 who is looking back on a pandemic which swept around the world between 2025 and 2028. The document states that the creators identified major socioeconomic, demographic, technological, and environmental trends which they believe are likely to emerge during this period. The two trends they said are likely to influence public health emergencies are ‘varying degrees of access to information technology’ and increased ‘fragmentation among populations along social, political, religious, ideological, and cultural lines’ … Interestingly, the report notes that ‘early case fatality estimates were inflated’ with the CDC estimating SPARS case fatality rate of 4.7%, and the WHO saying 14-15% and over 50% for people over the age of 64. Later studies would provide a more accurate estimate of only 0.6%. This simulated scenario mimics what we have seen with COVID-19. The CDC and WHO both initially claimed the fatality rate was much higher before later admitting that the rate was below 1% … By time Thanksgiving and Black Friday arrived the transmission of SPARS accelerated due to asymptomatic individuals traveling … Much like in real life, the simulation states that the Department of Health and Human Services agreed to provide liability protection to the vaccine manufacturer … The simulation makes it clear that health officials have planned for potential vaccine injuries and the objection to vaccine mandates. In one section the report asks, ‘How might federal health authorities respond to critics who propose that liability protection for SPARS vaccine manufacturers jeopardizes individual freedom and wellbeing?’” It would seem government officials and health authorities are simply ignoring that question by censoring it, and labeling anyone who raises questions about vaccine safety and the legality of vaccine passports as an enemy of the state. We’re repeatedly told to simply “trust the experts,” but as noted by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., in his foreword to my new book, “The Truth About COVID-19”: “Such advice is both anti-democratic and anti-science. Science is dynamic. ‘Experts’ frequently differ on scientific questions and their opinions can vary in accordance with the demands of politics, power and financial self-interest. Nearly every lawsuit I have ever brought pitted highly credentialed experts from opposite sides against each other, with all of them swearing under oath to diametrically antithetical positions based on the same set of facts. Science is disagreement; the notion of scientific consensus is oxymoronic.” How We Bought the Big LieWith hindsight being 20/20, we can now see just how the narrative around COVID-19 led us to where we are today, and it all began with a double dose of fearmongering. As noted by Jordan Schachtel in a recent article in The Dossier,18 the worldwide panic was set off with a series of “breathtaking, horrifying photos and videos coming out of Wuhan,” of what appeared to be “an Ebola-like plague.” He points to videos showing “citizens in business attire, out and about, seemingly going about their day, when suddenly, they were captured on film dropping like flies.” Not long after that, Chinese authorities announced widespread lockdowns to stop the virus. “A few months later, Beijing announced that it had successfully stopped the virus dead in its tracks, but only through brutal suppression measures taken,” Schachtel writes. “The message from the Chinese Communist Party was crystal-clear: countries around the world must lock down immediately, and indefinitely, in an attempt to stop this supposedly deadly plague from infecting your nation’s population. The scare tactic worked. In a state of total panic, the overwhelming majority of the world followed the CCP’s ‘advice’ on handling the virus.” There’s just one major problem. Nowhere — except for in those conveniently anonymous viral videos from Wuhan — were people dropping dead in the street. The illness simply doesn’t work like that, and looking back, none of the initial footage makes any sense whatsoever, and couldn’t possibly have had anything to do with COVID-19. “There is only one reasonable explanation for this — we got hoaxed by the Chinese government, and its disinformation operation continues to this day,” Schachtel writes. “COVID-19 should be understood as a classic Soviet-style disinformation operation. In employing previous disinformation campaigns, the Chinese Communist Party has long reflected the Soviet playbook to perform its own deceptive practices. This graphic from The New York Times accurately summarizes the key ingredients within the Soviet-style playbook that makes for a successful disinformation campaign:” In his article, Schachtel goes through each of these seven tactics, and how they’ve been implemented during this pandemic. If you’re still unfamiliar with the Great Reset, you’re probably wondering why anyone would ever go through all the trouble of faking a global pandemic. It seems too horrifically inhumane to even consider. Disturbingly, that’s where the evidence takes you, and when you start to become more familiar with the contents of global plans and agendas, agreed to by most countries around the globe, you start to see how this pandemic is being used as a cover story to foist unpopular restrictions upon the global population. The end game, it would appear, is nothing short of a global takeover by technocratic globalists who seek to gain ownership of the world’s assets, while stripping ownership rights and other basic freedoms from the rest of the people, who are looked upon as “excessive eaters” (to modify the term “useless eaters” used by the Nazis to describe undesirables that were to be killed to preserve resources for those actually “worthy” of life). COVID-19 — Cover for UN Agenda 2030In a February 2021 blog post,19 Henry Makow distills the message gleaned from a 2016 article by Alex Newman, titled “UN Agenda 2030: A Recipe for Global Socialism.” In that article, Newman pointed out that, in 2015, “virtually every national government/dictatorship on the planet met at the 70th annual General Assembly at UN headquarters in New York to adopt a draconian 15-year master plan for the planet.” The summit unanimously approved the plan, officially dubbed Agenda 2030, referring to it as a “Great Leap Forward,” which just so happens to be an old campaign slogan of the Chinese Communist Party. The plan is composed of 17 sustainable development goals with 169 specific targets to be imposed across the globe. While “sustainable development” sounds like a perfectly reasonable goal, this noble sounding verbiage hides a hideous truth. These plans are not what they claim to be. As noted by Patrick Wood in “The Pressing Dangers of Technocracy,” “sustainable development” is part and parcel of the technocratic plan for a Great Reset of the economic system: “Their vision for the future of society is this sustainable future where they will control all the resources and all the consumption. In other words, they will tell businesses what they’re allowed to build and they will tell consumers what they’re allowed to consume. Period, end of subject. You don’t need to be involved in this. They figure this all out for you in advance. This is the science of social engineering. They have the science, you just have to follow and do what they tell you to do. It’s very insidious. Of course, they have nice platitudes like we’re going to eliminate poverty, we’re going to have education for all, we’re going to have jobs with dignity. That’s all wonderful stuff, but when you get down to the bottom of their so-called sustainable development [and green deal] goals, you see [that] all you have to do to get those things is let us have all the control over the resources and the management of those resources on a global basis.” Newman, in looking through the goals of Agenda 2030, had the same warning back in 2016. He wrote:20 “Perhaps the single most striking feature of Agenda 2030 is the practically undisguised roadmap to global socialism and corporatism/fascism. To begin with, consider the agenda’s Goal 10, which calls on the UN, national governments, and every person on Earth to ‘reduce inequality within and among countries.’ To do that, the agreement continues, will ‘only be possible if wealth is shared and income inequality is addressed’ … Governments must also seize control of the means of production — either directly or through fascist-style mandates … In plain English, the Agenda 2030 document is claiming that today’s ‘consumption and production’ patterns are unsustainable, so we’ll need to get by with less.” The Middle Class Are Now the ‘Excessive Eaters’It’s important to realize that the “unsustainable consumption” they’re talking about is not the lavish, over-the-top consumption by the rich, but rather the everyday consumption of the middle-class. This includes:
In short, Agenda 2030 is aimed at reducing the middle-class’ consumption of basic goods and energy, which includes limiting, with an eye toward eliminating, property rights and private ownership for future generations. If you were to draw yet another parallel to Hitler’s T4 program, you could say the middle class of today has become “excessive eaters” slated for mass-reduction, as alluded to earlier. Agenda 2030 also details how the younger generation is to be indoctrinated into promoting the fulfillment of these goals. According to the agreement: “Children and young women and men are critical agents of change and will find in the new Goals a platform to channel their infinite capacities for activism into the creation of a better world … By 2030, ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including, among others, through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development.” As noted by Newman: “Considering what the UN means by ‘sustainable development’ — population control, central planning, global governance, and more — the agenda for your children takes on an even more sinister tone … Throughout the agreement, the UN openly advocates the use of schools to indoctrinate all of humanity into a new set of values, attitudes, and beliefs in preparation for the new ‘green’ and ‘sustainable’ world order.” Can You See the Plan Yet?Like mask wearing, lockdowns, and the yellow star before that, vaccine passports are the next step in the plan to identify undesirables so that they can be easily segregated and discriminated against. Ultimately, if the plan is allowed to unfurl in its totality, we may well live to see a time in which there will be a call for the incarceration and elimination of the unvaccinated altogether. This is the global genocide Sharav warns us about. We’re on that path. The justification will be that unvaccinated individuals are too “unclean,” too “unsafe” to freely participate in public society and must therefore be identified and shut out. In reality, it’s really about identifying the noncompliant. The vaccine passport will readily identify those who are willing to go along with the technocratic takeover, and who aren’t. Those unwilling to enter the new world of technocratic rule without a fuss are the ones that will need to be eliminated, and willingness to be a test subject for an unproven experimental treatment appears to be the litmus test. There will be other tests, however. Of this you can be sure. The requirement to obey, “or else,” will only expand and get more restrictive. Absolute slavery is our future, if we allow it.
The lies associated with Covid-19 are only slightly more prevalent than the suppression of valid scientific information that runs counter to the prescribed narrative. We should be allowed to ask questions about the vaccines, for example, as there is ample evidence for concern. The ersatz society: America gone wrong
Posted: 14 Apr 2021 03:11 AM PDT DEFINING OUR TERMSErsatz refers to a substitute, typically an inferior one, for something else. The ersatz version is not real or genuine. Perhaps in this day of artificial intelligence with computer generated images and voices, sometimes we’re really not sure if we’re talking to a human being or not. I literally asked a phone representative of a credit card company not long ago whether he was a real human being or a computer because his enunciation and diction were just more perfect than anyone I’ve ever heard. He assured me that he was perfectly human and that his wife was happy that he was. So I suppose, he really was human. Unless he was a perfectly programmed AI. Think about what I just said that sometimes that which is not real appears to be more perfect than what is real. People are human and we make mistakes. Computers sometimes also err and the results are exponentially worse. But sometimes the voices and images which they generate are better than what we mortals can come up with. So we live in a society where reality and pretense are sometimes indistinguishable to the naked eye or ear. This is compounded by deliberate attempts by our enemies to mislead us like lemmings over a cliff. IT WASN’T ALWAYS THIS WAYOur lives are very much a product of our times. If you or I had existed with exactly identical DNA, intellect and talents at the time our country was founded, the environment would very much have determined how we manifested these innate gifts from God. We are not even the greatest generation that won World War II and preserved our liberties. I’m only one generation removed from that era, whereas many of you are two or three. If you haven’t already read my previous article about The Federalist Papers, you can view it here:
Let’s review some of the most significant articulations from that first installment, then we will turn to subsequent writings. FEDERALIST NUMBER 15“Why has government been instituted at all? Because the passions of men will not conform to the dictates of reason and justice, without constraint.” Alexander Hamilton [Comment: Our Founders were under no illusions about how human nature will negatively impact any government, both by those who govern and those who are governed, no matter how assiduously we attempt to achieve perfection, which they fully understood to be unattainable.] FEDERALIST NUMBER 22“One of the weak sides of republics, among their numerous advantages, is that they afford too easy an inlet to foreign corruption.” Alexander Hamilton [Comment: Foreign intrusion in our national affairs was something they fully anticipated and is not unique to the 21st Century.] FEDERALIST NUMBER 25“For it is a truth, which the experience of ages has attested, that the people are always most in danger when the means of injuring their rights are in the possession of those of whom they entertain the least suspicion.” Alexander Hamilton [Comment: Madison, Hamilton and Jay warned their contemporaries about what we would call wolves in sheep’s clothing.] FEDERALIST NUMBER 26“The citizens of America have too much discernment to be argued into anarchy.” “It is impossible that the people could be long deceived….” Alexander Hamilton [Comment: This is where we should begin to consider how we have gone wrong. Why did these patriots of long-ago consider all their countrymen to be so perceptive and unable to be deceived? What has happened to that discernment over the course of well over two centuries?] FEDERALIST NUMBER 37“It is impossible for any man of candor to reflect on this circumstance without partaking of the astonishment. It is impossible for the man of pious reflection not to perceive in it a finger of that Almighty hand which has been so frequently and signally extended to our relief in the critical stages of the revolution.” James Madison [Comment: The man who was the chief architect of the United States Constitution and our 4th President understood Divine Providence in a way that our present society has forsaken. I would conclude that candor and piety are the elements which we now lack that he so inherently recognized.] FEDERALIST NUMBER 40“The prudent inquiry, in all cases, ought surely to be, not so much FROM WHOM the advice comes, as whether the advice be GOOD.” James Madison [Comment: Contrast these words to the tendency today to attack the messenger as a diversion or decoy to avoid addressing the substance of an issue. How many times does that happen in social media? How often do they just say a website is not credible without even once trying to refute that which was reported? That is the ultimate cop out of our age which our Founders would not have tolerated in their opponents.] FEDERALIST NUMBER 41“The choice must always be made, if not of the lesser evil, at least of the GREATER, not the PERFECT, good.” James Madison [Comment: We are often confronted these days with what we refer to as the lesser of two evils. But, the problem is not only when one person or one side of an argument is inherently evil. Unless we do that which is the most we can under the circumstances, claiming that we will settle for nothing less than perfection, by default, we let our enemies impose something exponentially worse.] FEDERALIST NUMBER 48“The conclusion which I am warranted in drawing from these observations is, that a mere demarcation on parchment of the constitutional limits of the several departments, is not a sufficient guard against those encroachments which lead to a tyrannical concentration of all the powers of government in the same hands.” [Comment: Our Founders understood that putting something into writing does no good unless those in power abide by the Constitution. What we saw in our recent national American elections was that the Constitution did not fail, but those who had sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution failed in their duties. That applied to all three branches of our federal government: executive, legislative and judicial. We are a nation of laws, but laws mean nothing if they are ignored. We must respect them, abide by them and prosecute to the fullest extent those who disobey them and who dishonor all those who sacrificed their fortunes and even their lives to pass them down to us.] James Madison FEDERALIST NUMBER 49“But a nation of philosophers is as little to be expected as the philosophical race of kings wished for by Plato.” James Madison [Comment: Those to whom we owe our freedom and our liberties had no delusions. They did think that Americans were intelligent and discerning. But they understood there were limits. I’m not sure they anticipated the atrophy of our national moral fabric however.] FEDERALIST NUMBER 51“But what is government itself, but the greatest of all reflections on human nature?” [Comment: Government is not just an abstract concept. It exists only as it is applied by mortals of flesh and blood.] “If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary.” [Comment: The first thing I notice here is that the recognition of Divine Power and Authority beyond this mortal sphere of human existence was so natural to our Founders, that they assumed it to be Universal. They didn’t argue for the existence of angels. They expected their readers to stipulate that. So very different today as mankind has tried to elevate itself in blasphemy against our Creator. How can you inspire anyone to aspire to righteous governance, when they accept no higher authority than their own mind?] “It is of great importance in a republic not only to guard the society against the oppression of its rulers, but to guard one part of the society against the injustice of the other part.” [Comment: The concept of guarding society against the oppression of its rulers, whether explicit or implicit, pervades all the writings of those who gave us this Republic, which, as Benjamin Franklin expressed so cogently, they hoped we could keep.] Alexander Hamilton FEDERALIST NUMBER 55“The present genius of the people of America….” [Comment: Taking time to read and absorb The Federalist Papers, one is struck with a recurring thread of respect for Americans to know and to do the right thing and not to be misled. So, how did we reach this point of the dumbing-down and functional illiteracy of so much of our society? I would submit that so much of it is due to being spoon-fed in snippets of information, some of which have to fit into 280 characters. Genius may be hereditary but it is nurtured by erudition. It is killed by hedonism, laziness and complacency.] “What change of circumstances, time, and a fuller population of our country may produce, requires a prophetic spirit to declare, which makes no part of my pretensions.” [Comment: Yes, they were contrite enough to realize that they could not possibly look into the future and know what America would be like centuries later. But they gave us an exquisite system of governance and it is up to us to maintain it.] Alexander Hamilton FEDERALIST NUMBER 57“Ingratitude is a common topic of declamation against human nature; and it must be confessed that instances of it are but too frequent and flagrant, both in public and in private life. But the universal and extreme indignation which it inspires is itself a proof of the energy and prevalence of the contrary sentiment.” [Comment: One element of human nature that does not change with the seasons or the centuries is ingratitude. That, in my estimation, is the number one reason for today’s ersatz society which is not even a vague shadow of that which was bestowed upon us by patriots who thought very deeply and who cared very deeply, not only for their contemporaries, but also for posterity. If we have never had to fight or defend our way of life, we simply do not place upon it the value which it deserves. We are easily led astray.] Alexander Hamilton SO, WHAT HAS GONE WRONG?Nothing could ever have destroyed America when we were of one accord, but, our enemies today have mastered the technique of divide and conquer. America is crumbling from within. Patriotism is considered passé. Our country has lost the awareness of our unique role in human history and become just another nation as Barack Obama predicted. To him, that is a desirable state of affairs. Whether this degeneration and disintegration of the United States of America is inevitable, or whether it is reversible, only you and I can determine. Madison and Hamilton were born for their times. We were born for ours. What went wrong and led to this ersatz society today, is that we have forgotten who we are, history has been deliberately erased. I have always believed that the USA has a unique and vital role in human history. Our liberties, until recently, have been totally unprecedented. We must not let a plan-demic undermine the continuity that has sustained us. We do not have to all agree on everything. That is not possible. It wasn’t even possible back in the 18th century. But, then, unlike now, they understood cause and effect. So many of us now simply exist without thinking about why we do what we do.
You may fail to recognize a piece of art as a counterfeit or phony unless you view it alongside the real thing. Unless we have an understanding of that which is real, we will always fall for an inferior ersatz substitute. The way to dispel the darkness is by turning on the light. Knowledge is the antidote to deception. IS THERE HOPE FOR AMERICA?Yes. You alone can replace despair with unbounded hope. Together, we are the future of the United States of America. Big Tech: What little privacy you have is going away
Posted: 14 Apr 2021 02:43 AM PDT
I don’t normally post press releases but when I do, its because I am gravely concerned. What follows is a February 22, 2021 press release posted on Microsoft’s website. I will embolden the bits that worry me and should worry you as well. Hat Tip to Dan Bongino who rang the alarm bell on this one. Technology and media entities join forces to create standards group aimed at building trust in online contentAdobe, Arm, BBC, Intel, Microsoft and Truepic form coalition to develop end-to-end, open standard for tracing the origin and evolution of digital content SAN JOSE, Calif., and REDMOND, Wash. — Feb. 22, 2021 — A group of influential technology and media companies has partnered to form the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA), a Joint Development Foundation project established to address the prevalence of disinformation, misinformation and online content fraud through developing technical standards for certifying the source and history or provenance of media content. Founding members Adobe, Arm, BBC, Intel, Microsoft and Truepic seek to establish a standardized provenance solution with the goal of combating misleading content. C2PA member organizations will work together to develop content provenance specifications for common asset types and formats to enable publishers, creators and consumers to trace the origin and evolution of a piece of media, including images, videos, audio and documents. These technical specifications will include defining what information is associated with each type of asset, how that information is presented and stored, and how evidence of tampering can be identified. The C2PA’s open standard will give platforms a method to preserve and read provenance-based digital content. Because an open standard can be adopted by any online platform, it is critical to scaling trust across the internet. In addition to the inclusion of varied media types at scale, C2PA is driving an end-to-end provenance experience from the capturing device to the information consumer. Collaboration with chipmakers, news organizations, and software and platform companies is critical to facilitate a comprehensive provenance standard and drive broad adoption across the content ecosystem. The formation of the C2PA brings together founding members of the Adobe-led Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI) and the Microsoft- and BBC-led Project Origin, unifying technical specifications under a single entity. The CAI is building a system to provide provenance and history for digital media, giving creators a tool to claim authorship and empowering consumers to evaluate whether what they are seeing is trustworthy. Project Origin has its roots in the production and distribution of news. The effort has focused on tackling disinformation in the digital news ecosystem by attaching signals to a piece of content to demonstrate its integrity and making this information available to those using it. With the foundation of the C2PA, technical standards will be unified while these two entities continue to pursue adoption, prototyping and education within their respective communities. Today’s C2PA announcement builds on several recent advances in content provenance, including Project Origin’s efforts to develop a pipeline for signaling, certification and tracking the history of news content; the CAI’s first-ever end-to-end demonstration of provenance for captured media online; and Truepic’s development of the first native integration of hardware-secured photo capture smartphone technology. Designing standards and technologies that can certify the source and provenance of online content is an important step forward in addressing rising concerns with the manipulation and manufacture of news and information. Companies interested in joining the C2PA can apply through membership@c2pa.org. ### END PRESS RELEASE ### So, what’s so scary about that?Allum Bokhari did a GREAT analysis of what C2PA stands for over at BreitBart. Here is rather long quote but, please do read the original article here. Put simply, the purpose of this organization is to devise a system whereby all content on the internet can be traced back to its author. The press release states that it will develop these specifications for “common asset types and formats,” meaning videos, documents, audio, and images. Whether it’s a meme, an audio remix, or a written article, the goal is to ensure that when content reaches the internet, it will come attached with a set of signals allowing its provenance — meaning authorship — can be detected. Consider the companies that have signed on to this initiative. Leading the pack is Microsoft, which operates Word, Paint, Notepad, Edge, and the Office Suite. If you create a .doc or a .jpg, a Microsoft service is probably involved in some capacity. Then there’s Adobe, the company behind Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and Premiere Pro, as well as several other market-leading applications for publishing photos, videos, and documents. There’s also Truepic, a company that has developed technology to track the provenance of photos from the very moment they are captured on a smartphone. Finally, there’s Intel, which dominates the market in laptop and desktop central processing units (CPUs). The CPU is responsible for processing virtually all information on computers. Whether you’re typing a sentence or taking a screenshot, it’s the CPU that is processing that data. Accessing the CPU is the ultimate form of digital surveillance. Even if you’re disconnected from the internet, the CPU still sees what your computer is doing. The combination of these forces creates the potential to track and de-anonymize information from the moment it is created on a computer. Signals could be attached to information to ensure it is censored and suppressed wherever it travels online. Even if someone else is sharing the information, it could be suppressed simply because of its point of origin. And, of course, the signals could be used to identify the creators of dissident content. Okay, let me give you a few scenarios on what I think could happen:
In other words, this is a BIG deal. A very big deal. So, what should you do about it? I have a few ideas.
Take action now!It is far better to stop a tech tyranny nightmare before it starts than to challenge an entrenched monster later. … Wow! That was a long rant. I hope it makes a difference. Your actions will tell the tale. In the interim, here is more interesting reading in case I didn’t give you enough.

All roads lead to racism: A Pete Buttigieg story
Posted: 14 Apr 2021 12:09 AM PDT Are you a racist? Newly elevated to Cabinet-level status, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg can answer that question for all. Yes, you are, because even the roadways across the nation have been built upon systemic racism – white folks have no shot at wriggling out of this accusation. The former small-town Indiana mayor recently told reporter April Ryan that racism is built into the country’s highway system, and “that’s why the jobs plan has specifically committed to reconnect some of the communities that were divided by these dollars.” Article by Sarah Cowgill from Liberty Nation. What does that even mean? Perhaps Buttigieg is adopting his enigmatic leader’s cryptic style of communication. Pete went on to explain, still encrypted: “There are stories, and I think Philadelphia and Pittsburgh [and] in New York, Robert Moses famously saw through the construction of a lot of highways.” One can assume Buttigieg is calling out the famous white urban planner who built roughly 700 miles of road in and around New York City and upstate, 20,000 acres of parkland and public beaches, 658 playgrounds. The man also built seven new bridges, the Central Park Zoo, and the Lincoln Center arts complex. How bad could he be? Buttigieg Reading Obama’s Book ClubIt would appear Mayor Pete came up with this racist roadway theory by reading the writings of Lewis Mumford – another city planner critical of Moses’s success – who spoke out against congestion. Lewis wrote: “In the 20th century, the influence of Robert Moses on the cities of America was greater than that of any other person.” How disappointing to progress. And through the pages of The Powerbroker, a book written by Robert Caro published in 1974 that Mr. Obama said “mesmerized” him. The tome discusses the people directly affected by urban planning, claiming 500,000 people were evicted from their homes so Moses could realize his dream. Others claim Moses dragged New York into the modern age, and critics dismiss progress insisting he subjugated humans to the mercy of the automobile. New York is a congested mess – not because of racist roadways but because people live on top of each other like Legos. The takeaway here is that Buttigieg is citing Moses as plowing through the black communities across the nation to build the highway system. Yes, Seriously, eminent domain is racist. Progress is racist, Eisenhower’s interstate system? Racist! Heck, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), not satisfied with publicity from a pandemic, has declared “racism” a threat to public health. Is it contagious, and do we wear a mask and socially distance when in the company of pasty white folks? Public health specialist and physician Dr. Camara Phyllis Jones explains: “Race doesn’t put you at higher risk. Racism puts you at higher risk.” Okay, Pete. I’m A RacistHow far are the Biden-Harris progressives willing to go in dividing the nation further, seeking obscure opportunities to decry racism? Buttigieg repeated his desire to equalize infrastructure to include communities of color – apparently, they don’t have roads – and inciting anger towards a dead guy, saying it “wasn’t just an act of neglect” but rather a “conscious choice.” Of course, laird Biden was around in the 1970s and 1980s and didn’t see any issues avoiding “racial jungles.” But he’s woke now and will fix the infrastructure with a $2 trillion plan to save the day. It’s a plan that tickles the likes of Secretary Buttigieg, who dug deep to find the racial roads we use every day can be washed clean of the racists’ who made our lives easier by planning highways and city landscapes. Perhaps it is time to just agree with the liberal left that any pale face is a racist and let them all find a new word to overuse and render invalid. Okay, just like the street I live on, I’m racist. Now what? ~ Read more from Sarah Cowgill. Could MORE police funding—and thus better training—have saved Daunte Wright?
Posted: 13 Apr 2021 11:09 PM PDT When Danielle Neuschwanger got her degree in criminal justice, she knew she would end up working in some capacity with law enforcement. Her career path led her through the system where she learned that law enforcement organizations in America are underfunded, not overfunded as Black Lives Matter and other radical leftist groups claim.
Now that she’s running for Governor of Colorado, she’s speaking out and offering common sense solutions to reduce crime while increasing prosperity across the board. We need police reform, she said, but defunding law enforcement is not the right answer. “I know there are opportunities within our system because I have personally dealt with them,” she said. “And so right now we have this whole culture of ‘we have to defund the police.’ But I’m here to tell you that the police have never actually been funded appropriately.” It isn’t just the Black Lives Matter and Neo-Marxist groups pushing the “Defund the Police” agenda. Many politicians across the nation have been vocal about taking down law enforcement as it is today and replacing it with a kinder, gentler, ineffective alternative. “We have politicians who will bend over backwards to not support the police because they’re afraid to have difficult conversations,” Neuschwanger continued. Are police receiving too much funding? By no means. Budgets were stretched thin long before the “Defund the Police” movement reared its ugly head. Departments across the nation were feeling the heat in the past. Now, things are getting worse. “We have historically only given our law enforcement the bare minimum to get the job done,” she said. “Most of them are paid under what you can make at McDonald’s in a year, and these are the same guys that strap on a badge and gun to come protect the city.” It really comes down to training and keeping the best people, then equipping them with the resources and knowledge to keep us safe. Suspects have rights which BLM and others claim to defend, but the easiest way to make sure there rights are protected is to improve, not weaken law enforcement. “We don’t pay them to have additional training, we barely get them through state-mandated training, and a lot of times these departments are so poorly funded that they can’t even get rid of the police officers they want to who have those problems, who are not the greatest officers and not the greatest role models, because they can’t afford to rehire new deputies and police officers and train them,” she said. She brought up Daunte Wright, the Black man shot by a White female police officer in Brooklyn Center, Minneapolis. The officer who shot him has resigned, admitting that she thought she had pulled her taser when in fact she pulled her gun. “We just saw an officer-involved shooting this weekend in Minneapolis,” she said. “The excuse we were given was she accidentally reached for her taser instead of her gun. That’s a training issue.” For law enforcement, training must be ongoing. It’s such a challenging profession that it needs to be constantly honed with new skills taught and old skills sharpened. That is happening less and less today as police are being stretched even thinner than they were in the recent past. “I would want to ask the question of what was your training like prior to this?” she said. “Did you have enough funding? Could that life have been saved if we would have properly funded and trained that officer and implemented remedial training throughout the year?” We will never know what could have prevented Wright’s death, but more training couldn’t have hurt. For an officer to pull her gun instead of her taser seems like something that repetition and proper training could have alleviated. “A lot of these situations that we’re running into with police brutality and Black deaths by police officers and just officer-involved shootings, it comes down to a lack of training and a lack of funding,” Neuschwanger said. As Governor, Neuschwanger would help law enforcement in Colorado receive the funding they need to better protect the people, both law-abiding and criminal. “Part of my platform, especially in Colorado, let’s refund our police but let’s do so that makes sense for the community so that we have community partnerships and we’re implementing verbal de-escalation training and safe body positioning training and we’re not going to lethal options right away,” she said. Neuschwanger also discussed her personal history with the pro-life movement, how Hispanics are being weaponized in Colorado for political purposes and how the rising Colorado drug problems can be solved properly. You can find her stances and donate to her campaign on her website. The way to fix many of the issues we have today in law enforcement is to properly fund the departments and train the officers. This will make them better at their jobs and likely stop many tragedies like what happened in Brooklyn Center.

Our intention is to elevate that to higher levels this year by focusing on a strategy that relies on free speech rather than being beholden to progressive Big Tech companies. During that four-month stretch, Twitter and Facebook accounted for about 20% of our traffic. We are actively working on operating as if that traffic is zero, replacing it with platforms that operate more freely such as Gab, Parler, and others. While we were never as dependent on Big Tech as most conservative sites, we’d like to be completely free from them. That doesn’t mean we will block them, but we refuse to be beholden to companies that absolutely despise us simply because of our political ideology. We’re heading in the right direction and we believe we’re ready talk to patriotic investors who want to not only “get in on the action” but more importantly who want to help America hear the truth. Interested investors should contact me directly with the contact button above. As the world spirals towards radical progressivism, the need for truthful journalism has never been greater. Matt Couch: Faith and Freedom is the path back to the America we are supposed to be
Posted: 13 Apr 2021 11:08 PM PDT
Matt Couch is one of those guys who is giving his all for America. After Joe Biden was allegedly declared the President of the United States of America, many Conservatives who had been fighting to expose Election Fraud simply gave up, becoming deflated and losing so much momentum. Immediately, everyone’s sights became set for 2022 and 2024. This has been a huge mistake. This is typical behavior by conservatives and the GOP for the past few decades. While the Left is always looking at 50 years down the road and refuse to give up, the right can’t seem to understand that this is a marathon. We are great at short sprints, and the extended fight after the 2020 Election to expose voter fraud simply seemed to drain them of all their energy. For many of you who know JD Rucker and I, you’ll know that we work around the clock. JD runs NOQ Report, while I’m running The GateKeepers, and then we work together building Freedom First Network, American Conservative Movement and Freedom First Coffee… plus a few more projects we’ve got up our sleeves. For us, we see our country crumbling before our eyes and we are doing everything that we can to wake up American Patriots to fight the good fight as we take back our nation from the Globalist, Socialist Lefties. Our mission is bigger than just ourselves… it’s about the future of America. Matt Couch is another fellow Patriot who works around the clock for our country. He runs thedcpatriot.com, which is a conservative news site. On top of that, he’s traveling across the country hosting and speaking at rallies and doing whatever he can to expose the corruption that led to the stealing of the 2020 Election from President Trump to Alleged President Joe Biden. He’s also hosting an upcoming conference, called the Faith N Freedoms Conference in Ft Worth, TX, that will be taking place May 13-16. I’m honored to be invited to speak at this event, alongside speakers like Pastor Greg Locke, Juanita Broderick, Chad Prather, Mindy Robinson and many other patriots. You can get your tickets here. If we are going to save America, it’s going to be by bringing back our faith and freedom, which is what the Conservative Movement is supposed to be all about. Unfortunately today, the Republican Party has been becoming very secularized and libertarian, leaving God out of the equation. Matt and I had a great discussion about why it’s so important to make our faith such a priority and the example that Christ set for us in political involvement and exposing the corrupt elite rulers for all to see. Many wrongly think that Jesus didn’t care about politics and only focused on what was going on within the realm of faith. That could not be further from the truth. While it is clear that the first and foremost focus on Christ was on the salvation of the lost, he also worked to expose the “Deep State” of His day… namely, the Scribes and Pharisees, who were both the religious and governmental leaders of Israel at that time. Just like Donald Trump who confronted the Deep State and Fake News Media, Jesus went straight to the everyday people, pointed back at the Swamp and called them what they were… liars and hypocrites. Whitewashed tombs. A brood of vipers. The name calling was severe, but necessary. We should take a cue from Christ, as we are going to have to wake up the American people to understand that they’ve been hoodwinked by the Left, completely brainwashed and manipulated for the elitists own gain. As we engage in this fight for the soul of our nation, let’s make sure that we are in this for the long haul. This isn’t a short sprint, but a long marathon. This is going to take years of engaging in this battle. Now is not the time to letup. Now is the time to get more fired up and more engaged than ever before. The lies associated with Covid-19 are only slightly more prevalent than the suppression of valid scientific information that runs counter to the prescribed narrative. We should be allowed to ask questions about the vaccines, for example, as there is ample evidence for concern. One does not have to be an “anti-vaxxer” in order to want answers about vaccines that are still considered experimental and that have a track record in a short period of time of having side-effects. These questions are not allowed on Big Tech which is just another reason we are getting cancelled. There are more topics that they refuse to allow. In turn, we refuse to stop discussing them. This is why we desperately need your help. The best way NOQ Report readers can help is to donate. Our Giving Fuel page makes it easy to donate one-time or monthly. Alternatively, you can donate through PayPal as well. We are on track to be short by about $5300 per month in order to maintain operations. The second way to help is to become a partner. Critics claim Bitcoin is a threat to the environment. They’re wrong.
Posted: 13 Apr 2021 08:58 PM PDT One popular critique of bitcoin is energy cost per transaction. This doesn’t begin to capture bitcoin’s massive energy savings compared to fiat currency. Article by Peter St. Onge from Mises. Bitcoin’s cost per transaction is well known, and often critiqued; one article in Wired magazine called bitcoin “[a] big middle finger to earth’s climate.” This is because bitcoin’s security, redundancy, and architecture are more energy intensive than traditional payments relying on a single point of failure. Comparing the energy of a single transaction barely scrapes the surface of the dollar’s carbon footprint, which includes the entire financial infrastructure supporting fiat—8.4 percent of GDP in the US alone, slightly behind manufacturing. This includes 80,000 bank branches, 470,000 ATMs in the US alone, and forests of skyscrapers towering over most cities on earth. Alas, that’s still only the beginning. Because paper money allows governments to print unlimited amounts of debt, that causes various collateral damage including inflation, recessions, and trillions in wasteful spending or endless wars whose costs are hidden by debt financing. These all, of course, carry catastrophic human costs that can only be imperfectly expressed in a carbon footprint. Still, we can take a stab at addressing that disconnect by estimating the carbon footprint of just one element of fiat collateral damage: the modern recession. First, how does fiat money cause recession? This was well known in economics for centuries before the Keynesian dogma turned mainstream economists into court jesters. The key element is that central banks push interest rates below the market rate, flooding easy money into the economy. This boom gradually sparks price inflation, at which point central banks slam on the brakes and jack up rates, tightening money. That whipsaw leads to a mass extinction of low-quality projects funded by easy money. The end result is a boom-bust cycle that, like a tissue fire, burns too bright and too short, leaving behind ashes. How does bitcoin fix this? Bitcoin takes purchasing power out of central banks’ manipulation space, dulling their ability to cause cycles. If enough dollars are sold for bitcoin, this drains that space until central bank manipulation no longer sends the entire economy into recession. How to translate that into carbon cost? We have a very elegant instrument connecting the two: the energy cost of a dollar of GDP. Because every watt that humans use is to achieve some goal—to seek “a more satisfactory state of affairs”—it means we can estimate the carbon footprint of a dollar of lost wealth, specifically how much energy it would take to rebuild that wealth were it destroyed. Tally up the dollars lost in a recession and we can estimate the carbon footprint. So let’s plug in the numbers and compare bitcoin to the dollar. First, what’s the carbon footprint of bitcoin today? This is trickier than it looks, because a large share of bitcoin mining is powered by green energy. Smart Energy says 39 percent of bitcoin energy is renewable, while the Global Cryptoasset Benchmarking Study estimates that three-quarters of cryptocurrency mining uses some renewables in its energy mix. Either way, bitcoin is far greener than the rest of the economy, which averages 11 percent renewable use. A big reason why bitcoin loves green energy is that bitcoin mining can be located almost anywhere on earth, while renewables are often located in strange places like the Himalayas, the Sahara, or the Quebec tundra. This means that bitcoin can use otherwise useless energy, and it also means bitcoin miners actually “bootstrap” new renewables, paying the operating costs until regular customers can relocate. As even a hostile article from Vox admits, “Many renewable power generators are so poorly located and underused that mining Bitcoin has become the only viable use for that electricity.” Without bitcoin mining, that energy may have just been flushed. Still, for now we’ll ignore bitcoin’s green preference and just take the total, because, as we’ll see, it’s not even close. As of March 22, 2021, the widely cited Digiconomist estimates a total energy use for bitcoin of 86.1 terawatt hours (TWh) per year, comparable to Switzerland’s 8.5 million people, for the perhaps 100 million people worldwide who use bitcoin. In terms of nationality, given that 19 percent of bitcoin nodes are located in the US, Americans might account for roughly 19 percent, or 16 TWh, of that usage. So that’s the cost: 86 TWh per year, of which perhaps 16 TWh is Americans. Now, it’s central banks’ turn: What is the energy cost of a recession? It’s fitting that our most recent recession, in 2008, is the very event that drove “Satoshi Nakamoto” to create bitcoin. There are a variety of estimates of how much wealth the 2008 crisis destroyed, depending on what’s counted and on the time period. According to the Federal Reserve itself, from peak to trough the 2008 financial crisis destroyed $11 trillion in household wealth in the US, going from $70.9 trillion in Q3 2007 to just $59.9 trillion in Q1 2009. Outside the US, many countries in Europe suffered even larger drops in GDP, while other countries, such as China, suffered little. To get a rough sense, Credit Suisse estimates that 31 percent of global wealth is held by Americans, so one might multiply America’s $11 trillion by about three to get worldwide losses. Next, we can put an energy cost on those trillions. According to the US Energy Information Administration, in 2018 it took about 5,000 British thermal units (Btu) to produce a dollar of GDP. The World Bank gives similar estimates for the rest of the world, at 5,200 Btu per 2017 dollar. There are 3.4 Btu in a watt hour, so that converts to 1,500 watt hours, or 1.5 kilowatt hours (kWh), per dollar. Now, multiply the trillions lost by 1.5 kWh and you get 16,500 TWh in the US alone. Scale by 3 and you get perhaps 50,000 TWh worldwide in lost wealth. Between 500 and 1,000 times bitcoin’s annual use, all from a single recession. Put differently, it would take between 500 and 1,000 years of mining just for bitcoin to match the carbon cost of the 2008 recession alone. Add in the other 17 recessions the Fed has created in the past century alone—one every 5 years—and that’s an awful lot of carbon. Indeed, divide that 2008 recession footprint by a recession every 5 years and you get an annual recession carbon footprint about 100 to 200 times higher than bitcoin. Several fun implications follow. First, that central banks are vastly more polluting than bitcoin, indeed more polluting than the worst industrial offender you could imagine. Second, this estimate implies that if bitcoin makes it harder for central banks to cause recessions, it could pay back every watt many times over. For example, if bitcoin reduced the odds or magnitude of central bank recessions by just 2 percent, bitcoin would actually save us far more energy than it uses. Of course, considering recessions destroy millions of lives in addition to the evaporated wealth, it sounds like a fantastic bargain. Throw in the possibility that, by reducing central bank manipulation, bitcoin could help limit inflation, prevent Wall Street bailouts, and reduce unnecessary wars with carbon footprints all their own, it’s pretty unbeatable. Now, there is a second, more sophisticated, line of attack which admits that fiat is polluting but argues for other cryptocurrencies that use less energy. These alternatives might be “proof of work” altcoins with smaller rewards, or they could be “proof of stake” coins that replace energy with capital deposits. While these alternatives could well use less energy, at the moment we simply don’t know if either is secure enough. After all, if bitcoin is already 100 times greener than fiat, trying to eke out another 1 percent in savings while putting the entire project at risk would be picking up carbon pennies in front of a fiat steamroller. Given we live in a world of irresponsible bankers and still immature altcoins, for now bitcoin remains the safest bet for reducing the enormous energy wasted rebuilding our economy every 5 years. So, if you really do prioritize the environment, stop obsessing about altcoin deck chairs and come help us steer around the fiat money iceberg. Ben & Jerry’s Woke Cream calls for complete dismantling of police over Daunte Wright killing
Posted: 13 Apr 2021 07:49 PM PDT For years, Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream has been known as a far-left progressive company. Their founders have been very outspoken about leftist hot topics ranging from LGBTQ supremacy to climate change hysteria. Now, they’re going further than even many in the Black Lives Matter community by calling for the complete dismantling of America’s law enforcement system. “The murder of #DaunteWright is rooted in white supremacy and results from the intentional criminalization of Black and Brown communities,” they Tweeted. “This system can’t be reformed. It must be dismantled and a real system of public safety rebuilt from the ground up. #DefundThePolice”
Their idiotic Tweet has been liked nearly 15,000 times and retweeted nearly 4,500 times. According to The Right Scoop: Boy the radical socialists are coming out of the woodwork on Daunte Wright’s killing just like they did a year ago with George Floyd, making absolutely absurd claims in order to abolish police and rebuild it with “wellness counselors and tow trucks”. And the sad thing is that there are too many people who’ve bought into this garbage and are applauding Ben & Jerry’s for this asinine statement. You know, we may not recognize this country in another decade. It’s already harder to recognize now than it was just over a decade ago. The killing of Daunte Wright is being reported as an accident that happened when former-officer Kim Potter thought she was pulling out her taser when she was actually pulling out her firearm. She shot Wright, who was fleeing from police who were about to enforce an arrest warrant against him. Brooklyn Center, Minneapolis, and other cities across the nation have exploded since the killing. Riots and looting have been reported in multiple areas as Black Lives Matter and Antifa domestic terrorists exact their revenge on innocent store owners. Meanwhile, police in mostly Democratic-run cities have done little to stop the anarchy. It seems to be a repeat of the events a year ago following the release of bodycam footage showing the death of George Floyd, also in the Minneapolis area. The parallels are striking with a Black man being arrested, resisting, and then being accidentally killed by a White police officer. Things may start getting much worse with the verdict from the Derek Chauvin trial coming soon. What Ben & Jerry’s fails to understand is the necessity for law and order to be maintained by sound enforcement processes. There are always going to be tragic mistakes, often with fatal consequences, that are made by police officers who are constantly faced with difficult situations as they try to preserve the peace. But the notion that this is an issue of systemic racism, which the radical left has been pushing as the narrative for a long time, is simply not true. Racism in law enforcement has been steadily declining over the decades. Today, we have the least amount of documented racism in law enforcement than any time in history. Some on Twitter ridiculed them. Audrey Huff said, “You murder countless thousands a year @benandjerrys with diabetes, & heart disease.”
Rob Schmitt said, “Stick to ice cream you idiots.”
Benny Johnson thanked them sarcastically, Tweeting, “Thanks, corporate ice cream.”
Damani Felder promoted Blue Bell, saying, “Reason #6,329,731 why Blue Bell ice cream will always be better. Ben & Jerry’s is run by virtue signaling, low energy, self-hating, social justice warrior cucks.”
This isn’t about Daunte Wright, George Floyd, or even the police themselves. This is about pressing a Neo-Marxist ideology to become the driving tenets of the land. If radical extremists like Ben & Jerry’s get their way, law enforcement would be replaced with legal counselors who act more like unarmed social workers to try to diffuse situations rather than stop crimes. It’s a ludicrous notion prima facie, but if we’ve learned anything in recent years, it’s that the radical left seek solutions that have no backing in reality or common sense. Ben & Jerry’s should have already been on every patriotic American’s boycott list. If it wasn’t before, it must be now. They want to tear down the nation and every cone of theirs that we eat contributes to our own destruction. Women’s sports are dead
Posted: 13 Apr 2021 07:18 PM PDT All you parents who had dreams of your little girl being the next Olympic gold winner in any sport, forget about it. If you dreamed your daughter would be like American gymnast Simon Biles with the gold medal draped around her neck, forget about it. If you thought your little darling might be standing on the top of the podium when the Olympic band played the Star-Spangled Banner at the conclusion of women’s gymnastics, women’s swimming, women’s track and field, in fact any women’s support, forget about it… and don’t you dare think otherwise, because if you do, the ACLU will sue you faster than you can say treble damages. All the above is sad but true. The all-powerful NCAA, the National Collegiate Athletic Association, is the ruling body of all college sports. The NCAA’s leadership, most of whom have not engaged in any competition more athletic than Bridge or Mah-Jongg in the last 45 years, just decreed that so-called “transgendered athletes” may compete in all women’s sports. If any state dares to not bow down to the NCAA’s demands, all college championship games of any kind will be banned in that state. Why does this kill women’s sports? What parent is going to dedicate every weekend to helping their daughter exceed in a sport when the winner is always some guy in a dress with a lisp and a name like Fredina? Who is going to pay for tickets to fill stadiums or advertising for telecasts of women’s soccer games when the players use the halftime break to clean up any 5 o’clock shadow? Who is going to watch women’s Olympics when even after a hard night out, 60-year-old commentator Nadia Comaneci still looks better than any of the so-called women competing? It is hard enough to get money to support women’s sports now. The rumbling sound you hear in women’s locker rooms tonight is their prior sponsors rushing to get out the door, checkbooks in hand. Certainly this will not be a problem in California. The California rules probably allow any person of any sex, gender, age, marital status, political leanings, steroid use or preference in ice cream flavors to participate in any sport they wish. Actually, I would not be surprised if in California, students who represent “disadvantaged” schools only have to run 85 yards of 100-yard dash. After all, in California, who does not think all those rich kids should allow economically disadvantaged runners to start 15 yards further down the track? So the bottom line to this is; California will not lose the Rose Bowl. But what about Florida or other states where most of the people believe boys wearing cute little pink shorts and mascara should not compete in girl sports. Now I realize for some people who live within 100 miles of the Empire State building or the Washington Monument that may be a radical thought. But here in the Sunshine State, the general feeling is that when classifying the genders, students should “go with what the good God gave you.” So, bowing down to the almighty NCAA, perhaps next year what had been Miami’s Orange Bowl and Orlando’s Citrus Bowl will be played somewhere near San Francisco. Regarding the ACLU, the spittle left by the NCAA spokesman on the microphone after announcing this decree had hardly dried before the ACLU warned the states that dare to object to this NCAA ruling will soon be sued. Bottom line to all of this? Every night when we watch the evening news, we try to reassure ourselves by saying, “well, it certainly cannot get any worse.” Guess what sports fans. We are wrong about that every time….. and they are just getting started! We’ve strongly considered seeking angel investors in the past but because we were paying the bills, it didn’t seem necessary. Now, we’re struggling to pay the bills. We had 5,657,724 sessions on our website from November, 2020, through February, 2021. But in these times, we need as many conservative media voices as possible. Please help keep NOQ Report going. Bitcoin: 32SeW2Ajn86g4dATWtWreABhEkiqxsKUGn

48.) NBC MORNING RUNDOWN
Wednesday, April 14, 2021
Good morning, NBC News readers.
We have the latest from Minnesota in the aftermath of the killing of Daunte Wright, why the Johnson & Johnson vaccine pause comes at a bad time, and questions over the safety of grocery workers during the pandemic.
Here is what we’re watching this Wednesday morning.
Police say the officer who killed Daunte Wright mistook a Glock for a Taser. Wright’s family want answers. Kim Potter, the veteran officer who fatally shot Daunte Wright on Sunday during a traffic stop, mistakenly thought she was firing her Taser instead of her Glock handgun, police say.
Potter and Brooklyn Center’s police chief both resigned Tuesday.
But Wright family attorney Jeff Storms told the media: “An accident is knocking over a glass of milk. It’s not an accident to take your gun out of the holster.”
Gun and policing experts said that while a Glock and a Taser “feel differently in your hands,” psychological factors including stress could have played a significant role.
Policing expert Maria Haberfeld said, “There is no indication that the officer intended to use deadly force. That said, it goes nowhere near excusing this mistake.”
For Wright’s family the nights since his death have been long and painful. “I can’t sleep. Every time I close my eyes, I think he’s going to hit my phone,” his brother Dallas Bryant told NBC News’ Deon J Hampton in Minnesota.
“I wish I had more time.”

49.) NBC FIRST READ
|
From NBC’s Chuck Todd, Mark Murray and Carrie Dann
FIRST READ: Without his Twitter account, Trump’s conspiracy theories find little traction
In the middle of breaking news about federal health officials recommending a pause for the Johnson & Johnson Covid vaccine, the former president of the United States offered one of his wild conspiracy theories.
The Johnson & Johnson pause was announced “for politics,” Donald Trump said in a statement released late Tuesday morning. Or maybe it was done to benefit a rival vaccine manufacturer like Pfizer, he added.
Photo by Jaap Arriens/NurPhoto via Getty Images
Then, in the same statement, he complained that Pfizer didn’t announce its Phase 3 study results until after the 2020 presidential election was decided. “They didn’t like me very much because I pushed them extremely hard.”
And guess what: Few heard Trump’s baseless conspiracy theories.
They didn’t lead the evening news broadcasts. They didn’t generate big headlines in the New York Times or Washington Post.
And while some news outlets did cover his statement, it was more background noise to the breaking news – rather than the main event.
So when the political, tech and legal worlds debate Trump’s social-media ban from Twitter and Facebook after his conspiracy theories and false claims after the election, the result is pretty telling.
Without Twitter, Trump no longer drives the news, even on the most explosive and delicate of topics.

TWEET OF THE DAY: J&J decision will take days/weeks, not weeks/months
|
Biden to announce full Afghanistan withdrawal by Sept. 11
At 2:15 pm ET, President Biden will deliver remarks on Afghanistan, in which he’s expected to announce that the United States will completely withdraw its troops from that country by Sept. 11.
“The troop drawdown will begin before May 1, the deadline for complete withdrawal as outlined in a deal the Trump administration reached with the Taliban, a senior administration official said. The U.S. says there are roughly 2,500 troops serving in Afghanistan,” NBC’s Carol E. Lee and Kristen Welker report.
“‘We went to Afghanistan to deliver justice to those who attacked us on Sept. 11, and to disrupt terrorists seeking to use Afghanistan as a safe haven to attack the United States,’ the official said. ‘We believe we achieved that objective some years ago.’”
On the one hand, you hear arguments that the U.S. announcing its full withdrawal takes away any leverage it has in finding peace between the Afghan government and the Taliban.
On the other hand, there’s the argument that – after 20 years of U.S. involvement – the Afghan government couldn’t still fight the Taliban to a stalemate without U.S. help.

62.) 1440 DAILY DIGEST
No images? Click here Good morning. It’s Wednesday, April 14, and we’re covering a pause in the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, a possible end to America’s longest war, and more. Have feedback? Let us know at hello@join1440.com. First time reading? Sign up here. NEED TO KNOWJohnson & Johnson PauseFederal health officials in the US recommended yesterday that states temporarily pause the use of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine, while agencies review reports of blood clotting incidents. The recommendation falls short of an actual order to stop—though all 50 states followed suit—and agency scientists meet today to review case data. To date, six cases of a rare blood clotting disorder known as cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (clots in the brain’s sinus veins) have been observed, out of more than 6.8 million doses administered of the single-shot vaccine. The natural occurrence of CVST is about five in 1 million adults per year. The incidents are similar to what has been observed in Europe’s use of the AstraZeneca vaccine, and all six cases have occurred in women aged 18 to 48 and arose in the second week post-vaccination. Federal distribution sites, including mass vaccination operations, will pause use of the drug. To date, the vast majority of vaccines delivered have been from Pfizer/BioNTech (119 million doses) and Moderna (103 million doses), compared to 16 million doses from Johnson & Johnson. However, the logistical convenience of the one-dose regimen has been viewed as key to accelerating distribution. The US is averaging around 750 daily COVID-19 deaths, down 6% over the past week—despite new cases rising by 7% over the same timeframe (see data). The US has vaccinated almost 80% of those aged 65 and over, the most vulnerable age group, and experts say the next two weeks will show whether the death toll has begun to decouple from case rates. Chauvin Defense Begins The prosecution in the murder trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin rested its case yesterday, turning the floor over to the defense on the 12th day of the proceedings. Chauvin faces three charges—second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter—in the May killing of George Floyd. Read what is required to prove each charge here. The trial has broadly focused on two lines of questioning. First, whether Chauvin’s restraint—a technique known as prone restraint, which Chauvin applied for more than nine minutes—followed proper training. Second, whether drugs in Floyd’s system, along with his general health, were the primary cause of death. The prosecution called more than three dozen witnesses; see an overview of each witness and their testimony here. The defense called a number of witnesses on its first day, including an ex-girlfriend of Floyd and an officer involved in a 2019 drug-related arrest of Floyd (see overview). Separately, Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, police officer Kim Potter, who shot and killed 20-year-old Daunte Wright Sunday just 10 miles from where Chauvin’s trial is being held, resigned yesterday. Potter, a 26-year police veteran, has said she mistakenly grabbed her gun instead of her Taser. The suburb’s chief of police resigned as well—a charging decision is expected today. Iran Ramps EnrichmentIran announced yesterday that it will begin enriching uranium up to 60% purity at its Natanz nuclear facility after an apparent attack on the facility earlier this week, which Iran has blamed on Israel. It would mark an unprecedented level of enrichment for the country, though still short of weapons-grade uranium, which requires 90% purity to produce a nuclear weapon. Under the 2015 nuclear deal, Iran was to keep levels under 3.67%—suitable for commercial nuclear power—until at least 2030, but resumed 20% enrichment after the US pulled out of the deal in 2018. The attack and subsequent news came as the US, Iran, and other world powers attempt to restart talks around the nuclear agreement. Separately, President Biden announced the US will withdraw all troops from Afghanistan by Sept. 11—the 20th anniversary of the World Trade Center attack—delaying the current May 1 deadline. Japan Decides To Dump One Million Tons Of Radioactive Fukushima Water Into The Pacific; IAEA Approves
Posted: 12 Apr 2021 09:00 PM PDT We live in a bizarre world: one where the the Keystone XL pipeline must be shut in case of a hypothetical (and extremely unlikely) leak, but where Japan is allowed to dump over one million tons of radioactive water into the Pacific Ocean. Actually, it’s either bizarre or simply exposing just how profoundly hypocritical, self-serving and corrupt the ESG/Green/Greta Thunberg theater truly is. |

Sweden Axes Gates Mad Global Warming Scheme
Posted: 12 Apr 2021 09:00 PM PDT For more than a decade Bill Gates has funneled millions of dollars into a scientifically mad scheme allegedly to study the possibility of “manmade global cooling.” The project, led by a Harvard physicist, proposes to send satellites into the atmosphere in order to drop tons of chemicals in an attempt to block the sun. Now a strong resistance within Sweden has forced Gates & co. to abandon the planned Swedish satellite launch. This latest adventure in geoengineering by Gates shows what an unscientific enterprise the global warming charade is. As Gates no doubt well knows, in fact the Earth has slowly been cooling as we enter what some astrophysicists estimate could be several decades of global cooling caused by a Grand Solar Minimum cycle we entered in 2020 . |

But government contractors have a lot of leeway to hide things, as shown by a recent records request filed by MIT Technology Review. |

BREAK THE INTERNET
The biggest TV show in the world turns 10
Ten years ago this Saturday, Jaime Lannister pushed the future king of Westeros out of a tower and changed the television landscape forever.
Granted, back in April 2011, we wouldn’t know just how much of a global phenomenon Game of Thrones would become. I didn’t watch the show the night it premiered—I wasn’t even in the U.S. when it debuted—but when I finally hit play on HBO Go (RIP) about two months later, I was hooked. But that potential was always in Thrones’ DNA. Fast-forward to 2021 and my relationship with Game of Thrones is vastly different.
2021 marks another big moment for Thrones. HBO announced a month-long “Marathrone” to celebrate the show’s 10th anniversary (or, as it’s been referred to, the “Iron Anniversary”) that includes marathons on TV that’ll raise money for charity, a newly launched spotlight page on HBO Max with playlists that somehow doesn’t include some characters’ standout episodes, collectibles to purchase, and more. When I first heard that HBO was going all-out to celebrate Game of Thrones’ 10th anniversary, I let out a tired sigh. Not because I think the show doesn’t deserve to laud the anniversary (it absolutely does) or because I think that nobody talks about Game of Thrones anymore (that’s not true, no matter how often people will claim otherwise).
The celebration comes as HBO and WarnerMedia plan for the next decade of Thrones, and well, it’s a lot of Thrones. House of the Dragon, the House Targaryen-centric project, is set to begin filming this year. But at least five more shows are reportedly in the works that are centered around Dunk and Egg, the Flea Bottom region of King’s Landing, a House of the Dragon spinoff with the Sea Snake, and an animated show. Game of Thrones will even take over Broadway in 2023 with a prequel play about the famed Tourney at Harrenhal. But HBO may be oversaturating the market with too much Thrones content, and perhaps underestimating how much goodwill the show lost with many of its fans by the end.
Personally, I tend not to think about Game of Thrones too much unless news about one of the successor shows breaks—the last season really burnt me out. But it’s also a show that gripped me with enriching characters, a fantastical plot, and some incredible twists and turns. Those earlier seasons are a master class in a book to screen adaptation. It introduced me to so many great people, some of whom I still talk to daily. So yes, Game of Thrones also ended up being about “the friends we’ve made along the way.” Despite my ultimate misgivings, I’d still recommend it if you’re looking for one more excuse to start watching. Just temper your expectations a bit on how the game all plays out.

Join the #MaskUp movement and be a part of the solution
Wearing a mask in your everyday life may seem like a new and unwelcome intrusion, but they’ve been around for a long time. Face coverings have been recommended for protection during respiratory pandemics since the 14th-century. Mask wearers were onto something way back then—and they didn’t even have Twitter to start a #MaskUp movement! In honor of those pioneers of safe health practices, we’ve built a comprehensive, science-driven database that’s just as easy to understand as it is to share.

HBO doesn’t want you to know that Joss Whedon created ‘The Nevers’
As I explained in my review of the first four episodes, HBO announced The Nevers in 2018—after Joss Whedon’s wife accused him of emotional abuse, but before most of the abuse allegations from former Buffy, Angel, and Justice League actors came to light. Whedon left The Nevers in November 2020, after season 1 had already wrapped filming. He didn’t participate in the show’s publicity tour, and his name is absent from many of the trailers and advertising materials, aggressively downplaying his role as creator.
There are a few different ways of looking at this. HBO obviously wants to promote the show, hoping for more seasons under the new showrunner Philippa Goslett. This is also an unpleasant situation for members of the cast and crew who were blindsided by Whedon’s abuse scandals. For many of the lead actors and staff writers, The Nevers was their big break. If HBO had canceled or buried The Nevers prior to release, this would effectively punish those workers for Whedon’s actions.
The fallout
Is it melodramatic to say HBO tricked viewers into watching a show by an alleged Hollywood abuser? After all, people do have access to Google. Whedon’s involvement isn’t exactly a secret. In fact, if you’re familiar with his work then you might recognize some of his familiar foibles just by watching episode 1. The two leads are Whedonverse stock characters: a pair of young white women who are, respectively, a self-destructive action hero and a perky science nerd. With The Nevers, it’s impossible to separate the artist from the art. This isn’t just a matter of people wanting to avoid projects by a toxic creator. They also want to avoid the toxic themes Whedon brought to his work. And those themes are very obvious in The Nevers. By erasing his central role in season 1’s creative process, HBO discourages people from making an informed choice about watching the show.

CULTURAL OBSESSIONS
Bucky’s detachable vibranium arm kicks off a debate about autonomy and racism
The last episode of Falcon and the Winter Soldier saw a confrontation between Ayo of the Dora Milaje (Florence Kasumba) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) during which she triggered a failsafe built into his vibranium arm, causing it to shut down and detach from his body. The existence of the failsafe has triggered a debate among fans, and while most seem firmly on the side of the Wakandans and the failsafe feature, not everyone agrees.
The debate went viral thanks to actor-director Stephen Ford, who tweeted that the installation of the failsafe was “really messed up,” undermining Bucky’s recovered autonomy and revealing that the Wakandans had never trusted him in the first place. While some people focused on Bucky’s past as a brainwashed super-soldier, and the validity of having some kind of failsafe in case the deprogramming hadn’t been entirely successful, others wanted to talk about a more systemic issue. Namely colonization and the fact that the Wakandans have a long history of distrusting anyone from outside of Wakanda, white people in particular.
Why it matters
In fiction, just like in real life, Black people are expected to accommodate the needs and emotions of white people before they see to themselves. The idea that Bucky’s feelings should outweigh the safety of Wakanda and that they should have left themselves open to a potentially serious threat because of that is just another example in a long line of many.

READ THE BOOK FIRST
The Shadow and Bone trilogy and Six of Crows duology
With Netflix releasing Shadow and Bone—an adaptation of two separate series by author Leigh Bardugo—on April 23, I was inspired to do something I haven’t done in quite some time: Read the source material before diving into the show. While I hadn’t heard of Shadow and Bone, which was released in 2012, or Bardugo’s Grishaverse (the collective name of all the stories she tells within her fictional universe) prior to Netflix announcing the project, I quickly dove into the books. It only took me about 50 pages into the first of the five books that I read to see just why they caught on so quickly with readers, and Crooked Kingdom (book 2 in the Six of Crows duology) was the kind of book I stayed up until 4am to finish reading. If you want to know (some) of what’s happening ahead of time or familiarize yourself with the Grishaverse before diving into the show, I wholeheartedly recommend doing the same. —M.J.

99.) MARK LEVIN
April 13, 2021
On Tuesday’s Mark Levin Show, Few in the media are condemning the looting, arson, and riots in Brooklyn Center, MN. When facts don’t matter people will believe whatever they want to believe when they reject the facts. Despite the facts, BLM, Benjamin Crump, and the Mayor are adding fuel to the fire irrespective of the facts that are evident on the police body cam. The City manager has been fired for asking for due process, the Police Chief and the Officer involved in the shooting have both resigned. Interestingly, 81% of Black Americans do not want the police defunded and want more police according to a June Gallup Poll. However, some feel that the media enflames these situations by misrepresenting them and egging them on. Then, Democrats don’t believe in infrastructure, they believe in empowering the Democrat Party and increasing the size of government. Also, former House Speaker John Boehner defends his sell-out tactics in Washington by taking shots at Mark Levin and Sean Hannity saying that their styles weren’t conducive to his governing. Later, James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas has caught CNN on hidden camera admitting to creating “propaganda” just to stop President Trump from being re-elected. CNN staff say that the directive comes from the top to “paint Biden” as healthy by showing clips of him jogging with his aviator glasses on during the campaign. The undercover video also reveals that activists have taken jobs at CNN just to get Trump out of office. O’Keefe suggests that CNN be honest and admit that they are the media arm of the Democrat Party.
